Sorry but I can't blame the Gopher players for diving. I don't like it, but seriously, WCHA officials don't know what diving is unless it can be accompanied by an offsetting penalty. If a team wants desperately to win and knows that the officials won't call diving unless it is the world's most obvious dive (meaning he falls to the ice with no opposing player even near him and the official knows it) they're going to dive. To be fair, I've seen Sioux players do it. They don't do it often, but they've done it in the past. With the state of officiating, I think they should do it more. Sad that I'm advocating cheap play but if we're always goign to be penalized because of it, we might as well "get in on the action."

That may be the weakest goal of the year, but let's recap the Gopher goaltender weekend: Briggs: 5 periods, 9 goals Frazee: 1 period, 3 goals. As you can plainly see, Briggs is the bigger sieve so let Frazee have the benefit of the doubt.

We've now had a side by side test of old vs. new, black vs. green jersies. I like the green jersies better. Both cause our team to give up 3 goals a game. But the green jersies allowed us to score 2 more goals than the other jersey. Hence, by the goal scored/goals allowed comparison, the Green is superior to the black and the old is superior to the new.

I don't care what happens to tDon. All I care about is what happen's to tDon's team...on the scoreboard.

That's one of the reasons for sure. I also think they simplified their defensive strategies and that has paid dividends.

WOW! What a sweep in convincing style! During the second period TH said The Sioux were ahead 4-0 if you took out the time out of the box. Well, we did REALLY good tonight. I believe Ryan Duncan will get WCHA POTW honors again. Toews and Oshie were great! Fabian did a good job and Zajac had his moments. Still don't know about that dumb penalty he took in the first. WAY too many penalties still. And I'll say it again, the penalties the Sioux got called on them during the first period were legit IMO. Don't know about the 2nd and 3rd.

Sorry, but I don't see a whole lot of penalties against UND that weren't penalties. We simply lost our cool and sent nearly half the team to the box. I was saying "Let them rough you up! You might get an extra PP out of it!" Seriously, if UND retaliates for every little poke and jab to our players all night long we're going to be rotating 4 PK lines all night. Let's face it. After our first two goals, we looked flat out bad. Can anyone explain why Darcy had to slash the goaltender? I mean, that was the capper in terms of dumb penalties. Porter's penalty, in my opinion, was the only penalty the Sioux had to take in the first period. The rest were just bad judgement. I'm glad we were able to take a few Gophers to the box with us, but seriously. It was BAD.

What a wild period! Sioux come out flying and score 2 quick goals. Then the Sioux decide to play idiot hockey and the Gophers were all too happy to comply and score 3 straight. Then Bina scores a goal that has to be a finalist for the "Weak Goal of the Year" Award. We're lucky we're in this game thus far. And, despite our recent success in the 2nd period, our worst period is coming up next. The Gophers are playing better than last night. They're not unbeatable but the Sioux are hitting patches of really stupid hockey as well.

I'd normally agree with you... however, I feel that Trent is a step up from Rex. The only way Rex will change my mind is if Rex plays a significant role in a Bears victory. Sorry Sioux-cia, I'm a Bears fan, sure, but I can't in good consicous root for Grossman. He is one of the worst QBs I've ever seen maintain his starting role.

You know, I wasn't really a huge CK supporter. I thought he's done some good things (the name issue) and some bad things but it is true, we could have done much worse. I'll be intrigued to see what happens. I don't expect the pro name changers will sit idle and wait.

I hope so. I hope whoever takes over for Kupchella stays the course that was plot and fights for the name until UND either wins the case or loses the case. Anyways, I predict it to get ugly.

Though I agree with where Triouxper is coming from on this, I really think we should be "policing" those a-holes that come over here from GPL and USCHO that act like that rather than cujo2. I mean, when is the last time other than Greyeagle and sagard that we've had Gopher posters come over here where you actually had to dissect their posts and analyze them carefully in order to find cheapshots or slights to the Sioux? cujo2 posts classy here even though he doesn't really have to. He "plays by the rules" on this site, even the unspoken ones. Pick on State of Hockey, Happy, or TC_Transplant if you wish, more often than not they deserve it. But leave what few classy opposing fans that come and post here to post in peace for however long they do so with respect to UND, its fans, and its athletes.

It's so up and down though. Was it last season or two years ago where they tried the black jersies out East and lost or tied in them and decided not to use them again? On the flip side, I really don't think it matters what the 3rd jersies look like. It makes little difference.

I agree with this As to how last night's game was officiated, I don't know. I didn't get to listen to too much of the game. TH wasn't saying anything about the officiating job and he's usually good for a few comments for what little I did hear (and what I did hear was basically UND on the PK). Campion is by FAR not the worst official in the WCHA and something tells me that, if Adam were officiating Minnesota wouldn't have gotten called on a few of the ones they did get called on and there would have been talk of at least two checking from behind penalties that went uncalled. Remember, 2 of the penalties (even if they were good calls) were made by the ARs. And there is no rule that it must even up in penalties. From what I read in these threads here and on USCHO, UND made it more difficult to play 5 on 5. Hard for me to admit such a thing because I'm so anti-WCHA official, but it is true. We have to play smarter tonight or I'll guarantee you UMN won't let those bounces slide by.

You just can't handle the fact that one of my predictions actually came true! And Sioux-cia gets a cookie for actually being NICE to me.

I always get confused with PWR, RPI and how certain series affects the Sioux. This is one of them. We want DU to be swept correct? Or what do we need that would benefit the Sioux in the SCSU/DU tilt? Or does this series have nothing to do with the Sioux?

Sad. I thought that was the one redeeming value of Minnesota fans... that they weren't UW fans...

Not so surprising. Northeastern has been playing well as of late. They took a few points from BC as well. MSUM beating UW is a bigger shock to me than Northeastern.

They'll need it. For as lackluster as the Gophers have been playing on Fridays as of late, they've come back with a vengence on Saturday. I doubt we'll have as much latitude tommorrow. I'm just happy that we won. MSUM beat UW! CC tied MTU. SCSU v. DU I didn't recollect the score.

To be honest, I had expected Kaip to be more Prpich-esque. At times he is, but he could be moreso...

I agree about cujo's post. Very classy. I talked to a coworker who went to Minnesota today and he said that, despite UMN's record, they have not played well on Fridays recently. That trend continues.

I heard Pohl and Kaufman was out. Don't know if they will be back tommorrow. Gordan will be.

You are a prophet! All Hail Sicatoka! Maybe PCM should interview Sicatoka on perhaps the path and goals necessary for the Sioux to do well the remainder of the season! So far, Sicatoka's been scary accurate! And PCM- You're right! I left the game when UMN was enjoying 5-2 PP advantage.
