What? Didn't know the two were tied together. This is a fan message board. The hockey team can do whatever they want and use whatever slogans they want for motivation. I, and many others, are confused as to how easily accepting the fans are of season ending losses now. There was no reason UND should not have beaten BU. They had just as good of team coming in but somehow, some way, they lose again to a similarily skilled team. I have a theory as to why and it has to do with the student fan base that becomes 'alumni'. The past 10 graduating classes at UND haven't seen a championship, only regular season wins. Winning Penrose championships seem pretty cool.

You know the bar has been lowered by the fan base when hours after another season ending loss you hear "Can't wait til next year!!". UND is quickly becoming 'paper tigers'.

How many years are they going to keep trying to "finish" their business? Hopefully they are not using that line in the locker room. It doesnt work.

What? I think you are off a bit on this one. The new name will drive merchandise sales from the supporters. The old name supporters will not buy new merchandise, but will be in the vast minority.

He is trying to come up with ways to get the assistants more money so they stop leaving. Isn't that what they need? This program is a frickin disaster, only rivaled by the softball team on campus. I wouldn't say they are above any suggestions at this point. My first would be to get the kids going to class. My second would be to try and recruit some kids who will actually care about UND Basketball while they are here and after they leave.

A brand new coach cleaning house. Not players leaving the program on their own cause of the state of the program.

You need more to do in your life if a nickname is that important to you. Wish I had your kind of time to sit around all day and wax nostalgic about a frickin nickname of a college. I will choose to support the University itself, the one inscribed on my diploma.

I think the timing is great and can't wait for a new nickname. Win the NC and move into a new era of UND athletics on a high note. Moveon.org.

We know that UND understands how picking up transfers works, unfortunately. Not going to argue there. I said they need to finish out the semester in school, which means they have not "left" yet. They may have left the team but not school. Until UND announces it or the kid does, there is no way to know. Also, at UND's level it is not as publicized as say the kids at Louisville leaving. There are no draft implications, for instance.

Nobody will officially know until they say something, twitter says something, or UND announces it, which would not happen until the end of the semester (or even next fall). They need to finish out the semester to be eligible somewhere else. But you already know that.

You're comparing Nagy's D2 record to Jones'? Interesting choice. Nagy had a pretty big leash after all he did during his D2 days. Jones hasn't ever done anything of significance.

I also am confused by that. One would think that a move to D1 would be for the better, meaning they intend for the program to play at a higher level, etc. Now they certainly do not pay him like a D1 coach, nor should they. But, why would expectations drop so drastically after making an upward transition? If I read the timeline right, Buning (the worst AD ever) nudged Rich out to make the move to Jones. Jones did worse than Rich in D2 and has done worse than most every UND coach, ever. But he keeps his job for nine seasons. Hmmm. Did Buning hire any good coaches?

I hope UND didn't use up their "puck luck" and lucky bounces last weekend. Two of those goals aren't happening again.
