NORTH DAKOTA vs. ST. CLOUD STATE - Fri @ 4:08
UND1983 replied to The Exiled One's topic in Men's Hockey
Winning the conference tournament, yippee. We saw last night how much those tourneys mean. Nothing. Fun for fans and that's about it. I almost think they put too much value in the old Final Five. Seemed lethargic coming out if it. -
Can they outbid the WCHA for the X?

The problem is we are in late March now. One bad stretch of a game seems to happen alot in March and April. -
In case you missed the memo, the only way to win playoff hockey is to get lucky. Even though we are the #1 team in America, we need to rely on "luck" to win it all. Do you ever hear football or basketball fans saying their team needs to get lucky to win in the playoffs? I haven't. Especially not the best team.

Everyone, meet this years excuse. ^^^^^^^^^^ Was waiting to see what it would be - prepping a little early for this years big-game loss aren't you? -
Does the 3rd place game move either team up with a win or is Denver set?

The old hot goalie, need puck luck thing. Never just play better than your opponents for a weekend. Ya know, act like your the #1 team in the country? -
I don't even think their parents came to the game.
-
The REA rep told me they were $5 more. Total no-brainer. He said they will be available once the selection show has happened and UND knows it is placed in Fargo.
-
I had not picked up my tickets yet but when I called last week I was told I could "upgrade" to a reserved seat(s) instead of SRO. So I took it (duh). How would a reserved seats come up now? I was delighted but a bit shocked they were available and especially to me, since I was in the low 1000's on the list.

It is all relative, no? Not like he was coaching against the SWAC teams with a 6.8 million dollar budget. Do we have the budgets of the Big Sky BB programs?

http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2015/03/alabama_basketball_was_going_n.html Read this article about Anthony Grant. He got fired at a rabid football school for going 117-85. The opening of the article is very familiar.

What is your point...salary and budget equals wins?

UND was ranked 318th in scoring defense last season. Let's start there.
-
Not sure I would play Cashman and Shanks at the same time. Way too slow and big to be able to handle athletic teams. They should interchange with each other. Need an athletic 4 out there, even if he is a bit undersized. Bernstine or Hobaugh come to mind.

2015 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament

EWU is a 7.5 point underdog Zags are favored by 17.5 -
Hoopster is selling hope to try and calm the masses and you just bought it. Thumbs up dude.
-
So our goal is mediocrity? He should stay because he is a mediocre coach. Thanks for clarifying.
-
I wouldn't call it restructuring when coaches leave for other jobs. Backfilling, maybe. When the last assistant left for USD and Craig Smith that should have told people alot about what he thought of his future at UND.
-
NDSU lost more than UND did (4 seniors that scored over 1,000 points) and have a brand new coach. Their record = 21-9. Losing players is not an excuse. The problem is what you did in recruiting while those players were becoming juniors and seniors. Who is the "young talent READY" for next year?
-
So in 3 years he produced 4 "HS" recruits: 1 home run, one that doesn't play yet, one transfer, and one that will never be more than a role player (Cashman). But now he is supposed to get 3 MORE years to fix his mistakes in recruiting, after being the coach for 9 years? I thought recruiting was supposed to get better after the transition and nickname issues were gone.
-
And about 30 pages ago we confirmed that this was no "rebuilding" job. You rebuild with youth, players you can build around for 4-5 years. A coach doesn't rebuild with 9 transfers. Jones did not want to rebuild, he wanted a quick fix to stem the tide, hence all the transfers. His high school recruiting has been poor in the past 3 years.
-
I remember saying that its almost like they put that 5 year NCAA criteria in there just so Smith couldn't get it. He was at Mayville.
-
I am assuming that Rich still sends McDermott a Xmas/Thank you card every year for putting his best team's together in the late 80's-early 90's. Mac could recruit.

When do those type of tickets go on sale?
