It would have been an interesting matchup as Rico could guard anyone and NDSU doesn't really have the type of player that Vonesh struggled against(Think Virginia Union..if I recall they had 4 or 5 guys who were athletic and active all over the court and quick to double the post and help out). As much as I hate to say it, this NDSU team would have been a real tough matchupup for the 1991 Sioux. UND didn't have the outside shooters needed, if you could of held Boschee back a year and had Todd Johnson on this team then it could have been a different story.

The autobids and the chip and a chair shot of the underdogs is what makes the NCAA tourney so great to watch especially when you take into account that there are no less than 20 teams and argueably as many as 25 or 26 teams in college basketball playing tonight and tomorrow night that are better than 15 teams in the "Dance"

In the Summit on the women's side I would say 1 out of 2 or 3 shot to win it is more accurate!

You are correct. The Gophers and 2 or 3 other Big Ten teams that will find themselves in the Big Dance, should be in the little dance(NIT)

I don't know about that? I am thinking their alumni will be pretty happy. and if they were not in a conference they would be 26-6 and not even close to being on the bubble to get in.

The fact that more than 4 big 10 teams are getting in the hoops tourney is sad. I am working on a bet with a couple big 10 apologists for the tourney but so far they have been haggling a little too much. Lunardi had 8 big 10 teams getting in when we started discussing the bet. At that point I gave them a number of 3.5 as an over under on how many advance past round one and a number of 6.5 for total big ten wins in the dance, but we will see how many they actually get in.

How many times has Kevin Gorg and a few others on the broadcast, and gopher players and coaches used the term "The gophers need to Draw a line in the sand"? I am not sure where the beach is that they are doing all this line drawing, but it's gotta look like a legal pad by now.

When I was young I was given a very valuable bit of advice. Never, ever punch another man in anger....unless you are absolutely sure you can get away with it!

It the Bison do get a 13 seed, they could do well if they get the right matchup. Illlinois would be perfect, a crappy plodding big 10 team and Marquette with them losing one of their 3 stud guards for the season coul be ripe. Washington is average, but the Bison would want nothing to do with Clemson, way too athletic.

Also not having Trupp for most of last weekend on the penalty kill and not having in my opinion our best penalty killing forward Gregiore today certainly throws things out of whack a little bit on the kill.

I do agree as far as recruiting and travel and all that....just couldn't resist taking a shot at the Big 10 as some people still regard them as a power conference in football when they are the 6th best of the 6 power conferences. Just get sick of the Big 10 hype in this part of the country whether it's football or basketball, it's terrible when compared to the ACC, Big East, SEC, pac 10, and Big 12.

Sad thing is, DU had not 1, not 2 , but 3 guys about 2-3 strides offsides on the rush for their first goal.

We have a game with Texas Tech from the Big 12. I would rather see us play Big 12 teams anyway, like Nebraska, Kansas, etc. if you are going to step up and play D1 teams you might as well play them against a good conference.

Mussman mentioned that at the last Fargo Sioux Boosters meeting in Fargo but with regards to SDSU. Apparently in meeting with a couple recruits and their parents there was a recurring theme coming mostly from the parents of when UND would become playoff eligible vs. the fact that SDSU is playoff eligible now. After awhile Mussman asked them if they knew when the last time that SDSU had made the playoffs in Football. I believe it was in 1964, so he pointed out the fact that for the last 44 years SDSU has been playoff eligible for all but the 4 or 5 years of their D1 transition period and never made the playoffs.

Funny you bring that up? When I voted in favor of the Fargodome part of the pitch was hockey and they even had in the selling points that 40 nights a year were set aside for hockey(high school and NDSU). You mean they lied to us and the Dome isn't capable of having hockey? I think NDSU having hockey would be fantastic and it should have been done 15 years ago. As far as where they play, the UP Center would be a pretty good venue when you consider the suites there are tailor made for a hockey arena and of course beer sales at an off campus site.
