  1. My claim to fame or maybe infamy? 5 Intramural softball titles spread over 3 different decades, 3 different schools(2 of which I never attended). 2000-NDSU 1994-Moorhead State 1986, 1987, 1989-UND
  2. Didn't say they were the oldest, just among the oldest. Blake did play a year at Ferris State and then sat out a transfer year and he turned 25 in September of his senior season(so just before hockey season started), Debus turned 25 a month into his 'Junior" season(November). And Woog didn't actually turn 25 until about a month after his senior season......Debus would have been 26 as a senior. On a Sunday afternoon game at the Old Ralph(I was actually in attendance), UND fell behind 3-0 early and the Gopher chirping started and once UND scored 1 everyone(the Gopher fans I was with looked at me and said f^ck, can we leave....it was the loudest arena I had heard to that point) could kind of feel the momentum changing and Blake who never needed an invitation to run his yapper started letting the Gopher bench have it pretty good as UND poured in 5 straight goals in a short amount of time to run the Gophs out of the building....at some point during the onslaught of goals, Coach Doug Woog made some statement to Blake about being 25 and Blake told him he was "only" 24 but he would be 25 next year and said that he would be back again but asked Woog if he would be.(Woog tells that story great!)
  3. Fun quiz for Gopher fans. who are 2 of the oldest players to ever play in the WCHA? Dan Woog who turned 25 shortly after his senior season. Steve DeBus was 25 during his 3rd season and would have been 26 if he had played his 4th season.
  4. Simple. The University of Minnesota should just turn down the Vikings and tell them they will have to play somewhere else.....of course this would also mean turning down the 300k per game they are getting and the stadium improvements that have been done. I don't disagree that the Redskin name should be gone but the the posturing by the University is ridiculous at best. Sadly it isn't the first time. If they had any convictions they could have refused to play Florida State in the ACC/Big 10 challenge....the conferences have different numbers of schools so not every school participates every season and if the Minnesota athletic department was so adamant they could have refused to play the Seminoles. They also had no problem selling Sioux merchandise at Mariucci arena while puffing out their chest about how against the name and logo they are and if not for the WCHA and conference scheduling they wouldn't schedule or allow their teams to compete against UND while right across the street UND's Fighting Sioux swim teams were competing the same weekend.(pretty sure they were not in the Big 10). They also had Central Michigan on their basketball schedule a few years back when their policy was to not play schools with Native American nicknames unless scheduled by conference. I have a hilarious email conversation with Maturi on that one.
  5. Only if we adopt the very capable Kenny "Sodbuster" Jay as our mascot!
  6. Maybe the goal should be not despised. As far as new Uniform's and the deal with Addidas, I would just stick with "University of North Dakota", "UND", interlocking UND, etc for branding on the Uniforms. I would NOT put the new name on them.....stick to T's and Hoods and general merchandise for that.
  7. Frattin was one of Toronto's best players in the playoffs 2 years ago. He kept getting dinged up for LA and they brought Toffoli up and he basically took his spot. similar players, Toffoli is 4 years younger.
  8. OK. Have to give credit where credit is due. That was pretty funny, even if it was set up by Dave K. which is like hitting it off a tee, but hey it was there and you drilled it, good for you!.....please don't wait another 2200 posts to post something funny or relevant though.
  9. Put me in that camp. Remains to be seen if he is =, >, < to Bohl and in my opinion he would have also been a major upgrade to Mussman. It will be interesting to see how the next 4-5 years play out as Kleiman has a pretty well stocked team right now and Bubba is damn near starting with a team similar to what we had in year 1 of our transition.
  10. True. But the trust level wasn't there as most saw it as a basketball arena for NDSU with the hockey being a charade.
  11. You are pretty dense. I'll give you that.
  12. Records can be misleading when 1 or 2 conferences feed on the Atlantic Hockey Conference. 1. Hockey East 2. ECAC 3. NCHC 4. Big Ten 5. WCHA 6. AH That is how they shook out last year. I think in the near future, HE and the NCHC will fight for supremacy, but I have to agree with Bulk Truck on his point as Minnesota, Bucky, and Michigan aren't going anywhere and Penn State is committed to putting a quality team on the ice. Ohio State will never be a hockey school but if the Blue jackets maintain some success their could be a residual effect down the road and as it is now they aren't terrible and they aren't great. Sparty is a mess right now. The biggest impact on college hockey the Big 10 could have is if it adds additional hockey members(Nebraska?, Northwestern?, Illinois?, Indiana? Maryland?, Rutgers?)...if 3 years down the road the Big 10 hasn't added any additional teams the move to form a conference will have been terrible for college hockey in general. I think if a couple Big 10 teams jump you could see conference expansion in other areas as well(Texas, Arizona State, Iowa State, FGCU to name a few).
  13. .2.1 Five-Year Rule - A student-athlete shall complete his or her seasons of participation within five calendar years from the beginning of the semester or quarter in which the student-athlete first registered for a minimum full-time program of studies in a collegiate institution, with time spent in the armed services, on official church missions or with recognized foreign aid services of the U.S. government being excepted. For foreign students, service in the armed forces or on an official church mission of the student's home country is considered equivalent to such service in the United States. 14.2.3.5 Participation after 21st Birthday - Any participation as an individual or a team representative in organized sports competition by a student during each 12-month period after the student's 21st birthday and prior to initial full-time enrollment in a collegiate institution shall count as one year of varsity competition in that sport. Participation in organized competition during time spent in the U.S. armed services shall be excepted. To summarize the Five-Year rule, enrolling at college or university full time begins your five-year eligibility clock. For a player aiming at the NCAA, full-time enrolment could make them less attractive to schools/coaches recruiting future talent - by thus having less years to work with the player. For the most part, players that want to continue schooling while playing out their junior will attend as part-time students. This allows them to keep the edge on their studies while also being able to balance the rigors of playing junior hockey all the while keeping their NCAA eligibility intact. The second rule above may or may not be an issue for some players. In some cases, a player will turn 21 during their last year of junior. If so, a player cannot continue playing once their 21st birthday occurs if they are inline for the NCAA the following season. If they do continue to play, the player will lose a year of eligibility - again something that most coaches aren't that keen on when recruiting a prospective athlete.
  14. I actually get a kick out of Truck's "schtick"....it at least is somewhat thought out unlike your mindless drivel.
  15. And you probably wrote it. Do us all a favor and show yourself out.
  16. Have to give credit to NDSU. They played hard and competed against Oregon State and lost a tough game to UNLV.

  19. We would like to trade darell1976 to NDSU for a used typewriter ribbon and some whiteout.
