    Got my email this morning. Will be voting Fighting Hawks again. Not that I am in love with it, but it is the lesser of 3 evils and as I have said before not very likely that this will be a long term name for UND(none of the remaining will be). It is generic but has some good logo and mascot potential and is the only one of the 3 with any potential to garner any long term additional revenue for UND through apparel and merchandise sales which is good for UND and good for me and the company I work for. If Nodaks or Roughriders are chosen you will get a lukewarm at best response from the current students which will feed down to the future students and young people in the area and across the state. I believe alum will continue to buy the same merchandise and apparel available to them now and slapping the new name on an item will not motivate someone who is a Fighting Sioux alumni to purchase an item with a name on it that has no meaning to them. Don't like Roughriders as to me it is a "western" based name and a local high school already has the name and I have never liked the name to start with. That said, I could live with the name but would rather not. Nodaks is terrible unless we are planning on going D3, moving Twamley to East Grand Forks and joining the MIAC.

    So they can pronounce the new name as popular as over half the people were in favor of it while ignoring the fact that the new name will actually be endorsed by about 19-20% and to get that high they had to go through 2 or 3 eliminations.

    I would guess that after a couple of years that 90% of what alum buy will be UND and University of North Dakota branded apparel. Current and future students will be the market for the new name apparel.

    I was originally going to say Peregrines as well but decided to keep it generic. They are also sometimes know as Bullet Hawks......hey look at that we just accidentally came up with 2 names better than any of the remaining selections.

    I think the heyday of large apparel sales for UND are gone. I think people who are alum and graduated as a Fighting Sioux will be inclined to purchase the same type of apparel that is available now with the interlocking ND and The University of North Dakota, etc. If it is true that most of the students are in favor of Fighting Hawks and the name ends up as something else I think apparel sales will suffer. Also i think most young people in the state would probably have similar tastes. So who is the market? I guess it depends on what name we end up with.

    My view is probably a bit skewed. I worked construction during the summer while going to school and we had a couple jobs in Minot so our boss rented us a 2 bedroom apartment for 2 months rather than hotel rooms so living with 6 guys in a 2 bedroom apartment on air mattresses was less than ideal. Had lawn chairs for furniture...at least he sprung for cable.

    Student: it sounds cool, they could have a cool mascot..............correct ....although I still wish if we were going Bird that it would have been Falcons related Student: NO! we cant Steal from a highschool, everyone would wear the same clothes, I dont want it to be too western!.............I actually have no problem with this answer. Like it our not, UND's reputation used to be that the students were more urban(lots of Twin Cities kids) while NDSU was the small town kids and this created different cultures at the schools and was part of the reason I went to UND as even though Fargo might seem more urban than Grand Forks as a town the campus life and culture was the other way around. Student: there are many kids that wouldnt come here if that were our logo, id rather go to NDSU......well, this is just stupid....the going to NDSU part I mean. Looking at some of the Roughrider logos that have been proposed here would probably make some of the larger city kids think look at that logo.....what a bunch of nodaks.(see what I did there?)

    Well the first 2 years I had my seats in 110 right next to the student sections. So when the students stood I either stood or looked up at the screen. Loved being in the atmosphere and most nights I would usually only be there for a period as we would usually venture up to the bar and sit in the 2 barstools next to my friends seats or his if he texted me and told me that his were open that night...toward the end of year 2 they started to crack down and check tickets to get into that section. Moved my seats to where I like to sit at most any hockey game...end where we shoot twice at an angle but close enough to center to look right down the glass. Would be tough to give these up. 106, 2 rows down from entrance.

    I think if the vote between the final 2 is less than a percentage point that we should just share and use 1 name for certain things and the other for other things.......why not at this point?

    I would hope the new logo would be fresh and young looking as the target audience will be current and future students and young fans of UND....as an alum, myself and most others in my group will continue to wear Fighting Sioux gear and UND gear and anything I buy in the future would likely promote UND. I do not see myself purchasing any apparel or merchandise that has the new name/logo on it unless if is very understated within a cool design.

    The problem is that everyone of these names sucks when they stand on their own other than North Stars which isn't really a viable option. The only time any of the names suck less is when they are in a group with the other finalists and at that point everyone has an opinion or reasons as to why their selection sucks less.......now I know what it must feel like to vote for the NDSU homecoming queen.

    Finally, some people are starting to figure it out. I said this when they announced the finalists.....not even blow it up, but rewind and reboot.
