2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
stoneySIOUX replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Glad we're on the same page. It's absolutely justified to be frustrated right now. We all are. But what in God's green earth will firing Berry do? Nothing. People are bummed about our pipeline (I love our pipeline. We need MORE players, but I love it) for some reason and that, I guess, could be a part of it, but it's wild to me that people legit think he deserves to be fired. -

We're blaming him for not needing to be better in the second half because they haven't had to? Absolutely does not mean they cannot. Seeing the statistics around their struggles gives me hope, but also adds to an incredible amount of frustration. Other than stopping silly turnovers in the defensive and neutral zone, I have yet to be able to pinpoint why we're losing. It's certainly not a lack of talent. I won't buy that. -

I think the entitlement sentiment, for me at least, is when we talk about firing Berry. Based on one half of the season, a big chunk of the fanbase not just wants him to be fired, but think he should be. I think it's crazy and yes, totally unreasonable to think he should be fired. I honestly don't see any regression, so to say. Underperformance, absolutely. Lack of progression that we desired, sure. But, who's regressing? Not trying to start a pissing match, but I'm just curious to hear who people think have gotten worse as a player. -

I don't agree that there's been no progress. With that said, it's hasn't been enough. We're too far into the season to be playing with poor defensive effort, consistently silly turnovers, and bad goaltending. This team absolutely has the talent to turn it around. Will it? We'll find out and that's all I'm saying. We're saying absolutes like we're going to get swept in the quarters and then expanding into a potential multi-year struggle based on one half of the season. We've legitimately saved seasons with second half surges MANY times. All we have to do is get in and we have a shot with Fargo. The ride hasn't been enjoyable, but it's not over. I just don't understand the assumption of failure when we have plenty of reasons to carry hope. But, I guess that's just me, so be it. LOL again, if you don't like analytics, you don't have to believe, but all of the of the other xG, possession, etc., leaders are winning games. The ones who have poor differences in those stats aren't winning games as whole and UND is the outlier. On the flip side, we have plenty of chances to move up in the PWR with teams like Western 4x, Denver, and St. Cloud left on the schedule. We moved up one spot with two losses this weekend. Imagine what would have happened had we won one or both. Gotta have the wins. Simple as that. We rip off a good run against Western, Lindenwood, a down UMD team, and Miami in January, we're right back in the mix. -

Why are we doing this to ourselves? My goodness, ya'll. Let the year finish out. People want to poo poo analytics, but this season could absolutely take a turn to the positive. Let's just chill out, please? -
Regardless of how it turns out, it seems like it's turning the corner into "nothingburger town", it still looks bad. It's simple.
-
I bet they sell these on the Facebook group.
-
Just because it didn't cause anyone harm, doesn't mean the fanbase enjoys idea of their favorite team looking shady, warranted or not.

"third place vote-getter"

UND @ The Herb Stone Monument vs. JBU - Friday Gameday

Certainly won't help -
I absolutely love that we've been replaced as a scourge of our fanbase
-
It's so bad. So much lack of actually hockey knowledge and exaggeration of everything. It's comical at some points. Horribly sad at others. Just the LOWEST possible reflection of our fanbase. And for Christ's sake, can someone PLEASE teach these dummies WITH A PHONE IN THEIR HAND, how to figure out what channel the frickin' game is on lololol?!
-
HA! Never thought about that. Don't get me wrong... I adore the Sioux logo in all shapes and forms. My love for UND blows away the love for the logos. I'd love to see a spread of the alumni vs. non-alumni on there. Not that it really matters, but it does paint a type of picture, you know?
-
Ditto. Honestly, I think this is the view of our fanbase, especially actual alumni, overwhelmingly. It feels like that God awful FB group has made the "Sioux Forever" group louder than ever, but I do believe if it came down to it, people would state their allegiance towards the school, not the name. I know that's the case for my friends and colleagues, at least.

Yep. I think we get it. Hopefully it comes tonight and we can play for the chance for 6 tomorrow -
Let's get this started, shall we? Weird week, eh? Maybe this trademark nonsense can be something to rally the team. UND wins 4-2 Gaber, Kleven, Judd, Hainer
-
Yep. I won't deny Minnesota carried the play territorially for a significant stretch in the series, but those games were both very close.
-
They were also 1+ minute away from a sweep. Been over this SOG discussion a million times. That's what Minnesota does ... they fire the puck from everywhere. That series was a close one.

I think that was the point. He's saying he's seeing signs, so he's confident it'll continue. -

Per Schloss, Holy. Moley. Imagine if those are wins. Imagine if even two or three are wins. Ugh. "In all six of UND's losses this season, it either held a lead or was tied in the second or third period. Gaber didn't want this one getting away." -
Better, yes. This premise is being played as kids becoming Hobey winners once they free themselves from Bubbs' creativity-snuffing clutch (I'm being dramatic lol )
-
Boisvert, McInnis, too. I'm speaking about the quality of the group. Obviously we need more bodies.
-
Do you really believe this or is this sarcasm?
-
Perron, Swanson, Strathmann is a damn good pipeline on its own. I think many, rightfully so, are seeing us miss on some guys we all wanted without remembering what we have. Those three could all go first round. They will all likely play together soon. Obviously this isn't the whole story and we can't (and won't be) done, but it's a helluva group already.

Smite the blasphemer!!!
