University of North Dakota Hockey 2019-20 Season
stoneySIOUX replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
After two years? Jeebus, I can't believe people think this way. Honestly not saying you, burd, but is there any proof that prospects or people that advise prospects are thinking this way? -
University of North Dakota Hockey 2019-20 Season

And he's still meh at CC. Maybe he wasn't really that good? -
I mean, we didn't score a lot this year, so I can see how this would happen hahaha.
-
Don't get greedy. We already have it coming out of the corners
-
Feels like he's "tough" and old school guys like "tough".
-
We did. That's why we are bringing in 4 forwards who are true freshmen, with high skill sets and are highly rated. We missed on Hoff being a high scorer and the rest are Sophs and freshmen (Juniors and sophs, now) and we are still waiting to see if they score consistently. Getting a step up in play from those guys seems reasonable. Then, the impact freshmen make and impact and there you go.

Standards? That is "off the rails" ... I don't think UND needs to get to that point before looking at changes. Comparing football, basketball and college hockey are just not similar, but you can go for it, man. All good. Instead of the back and forth, I'll just say I don't think it's time to fire Bubbs and I'm willing to wait for the next couple years of recruits. You can feel differently, but I don't think it'll change anything.
-
That point was fair. Mine simply comparing Eaves last two seasons to UND's past two seasons. I think it's very much necessary to wait and see on recruiting.
-
And I have no reason to believe we're at that point. Two below average seasons do not equal off the rails, to me. I expect the next two years to be very good for our favorite team. If they aren't, that's where I'd be concerned.
-
4-26-5; 8-19-8
-
My point is that I don't think the Eaves comparison helps prove that it's time to get rid of Bubbs. I don't think this team is off the rails. Eaves' program was off the rails.
-
if you're looking at the two records of those seasons, I'm not sure how you can think those equate.
-
I hope so, too.
-
I'm sorry, but I just don't think the two equate. Eaves last two seasons with Wisconsin: 4-26-5; 8-19-8.... I mean, we weren't good, but that doesn't feel like a proper comparison. I don't believe UND is that far off.
-
Wisconsin was way off course when Eaves. We're not that far off, IMO. I truly think the next two seasons are going to "reverse course" to continue with ship analogy

I'm definitely in this boat. Even if Pooly doesn't come back, I think we'll still be great defensively. I also think he's coming back, so that's even better. Scheel was a stud last year and the D is good in front of them. Definitely think we'll score more, too. We'll see.
-
The world is A LOT different than in 1996. Internet insta-rage culture paired with much higher the accessibility to officials, leaders and the like has gotten pretty crazy. IMO, the pressure would get to point from the fanbase after three where it would be beyond obnoxious and the AD would start to look at it.
-
Yup. I remember this, now lol. So, he's coming in this year, but can't play until 20-21.
-
I could very well have messed that up hahaha. Little help! Anyone? Anyone ACTUALLY know what they're talking about around this? Haha.
-
Yeah, not until midseason, though. I'll wait for Sic's ruling, but since it notes new players for the 19-20 roster and not just the START of the year, I think he should count.
-
Can we clarify this? Are we counting Stratton? He's going to come in at the halfway point, but isn't eligible.
-
Right, and I was agreeing with IHTINB that Duncan had a wonderful career and that includes having NHL offers after his Soph and Junior years.
-
Not to mention that he had NHL offers after his Soph and junior years.
-
Is anyone trying to do this, at this point? I think we're all moving on to what we'd like to see done to make changes.
