Not at all, I just think it is tough to judge a kids character at all right after losing the biggest game he has played in. He did post a nice note on Twitter a couple hours after the game thanking his seniors, support his team had, and the usual stuff like that but made sure to include a congratulations to Wayzata in it and that they deserved to win which he didn't need to include at all.
-
Mittelstadt had just lost the biggest game of his life I'm not gonna blame him for being upset and taking the medal off its just not a big deal to me at all. People can complain all they want about him taking his medal off and if he is a bad sport or not but the bottom line is any program in the country would be happy to have him.
-
Looks like he played his high school hockey at Brainerd can't say I really remember him too much but I only saw a couple Brainerd games when he would have been there. Seems like he has good size and will probably be a depth guy.
-
I would guess he had already been at the rink and had to go back to his room for something. I would be surprised if they don't need to show up until right at game time. Maybe Janatuinen was dealing with some kind of illness and was supposed to stay away tonight but when Schmaltz couldn't go they asked him if he would be able to battle through the illness and play?

I believe Midco has usually televised the 1st round when UND is at home so I'd guess that would be the case again. CBSSN does the frozen faceoff semifinals and championship, don't think there is any tv for the 3rd place game.
-
Was a little sloppy at times and goaltending struggled but battled through it to get the win. I thought UND really controlled things 5-on-5 but most of this game was filled with penalties. Hope Schmaltz can get healthy heading into to playoff time but no matter who is in and who is out need to get the job done next week.

Mark Senden and Wayzata are the AA State Champions Wayzata beat Eden Prairie 5-3 in a great game tonight. Senden played very well again very responsible defensively, created a few good chances and drew a PP driving hard to the net.
-
#3 Wayzata beats #1 Eden Prairie 5-3 adding an empty netter late to win the AA championship. Great championship game had a little of everything lots of skill plays, very physical, powerplay goals, shorthanded goals, big saves, and big defensive plays. The Minnesota State Hockey Tournament never disappoints.

Grand Rapids won the AA 3rd place game 3-2 over Stillwater. Thief River Falls beat St. Paul Academy in the class A 3rd place game 4-1. Bemidji won the AA consolation championship with a 4-1 win over Farmington so all 4 northern teams took home some hardware. Looking forward to a good AA championship at 7:00 with #1 Eden Prairie and #3 Wayzata. The 2 teams split during the regular season with each team winning 4-2. EP has the best player on the ice in Mittlestadt who has been dominant and Wayzata has great balanced depth and will be able to roll 4 lines and 3 sets of defensemen.

#4 Grand Rapids beat #2 Stillwater 3-2 in the 3rd place game in AA. Mitchell Mattson scored the game winning goal for Rapids with 5:12 left in the game, Gavin Hain had 1 assist in the game.

Have heard from a couple people and now also read a couple different places that Mattson has been playing with an injury this week. The people that told me about just said he suffered a hand injury against Duluth East but I've read on a couple different sites that say he had to get 12 stiches in his hand after the section final.

Hermantown beats Breck 5-0 to win the class A championship. Snaps a streak of 6 straight runner-up finishes for Hermantown.
-
Eden Prairie beat Grand Rapids 6-2. Hain, Mattson, and the rest of the Thunderhawks will play Stillwater for 3rd tomorrow afternoon.
-
Eden Prairie beats Grand Rapids 6-2 to advance to the final. Grand Rapids was able to tie it at 2 with 2 goals in 11 seconds in the 2nd period and had a couple chances to take the lead but a post and big save kept that from happening. After that EP responded with 3 of their own in the 2nd and would add another in the 3rd. Casey Mittelstadt led EP again and was fantastic with 3 goals and 2 assists and now 11 points in 2 tournament games.

Really a pretty dominating performance tonight nice to see Wilkie be able to put a couple away.
-
Senden and Wayzata advance to the AA state championship with a 2-1 win. Senden was real good again he got absolutely robbed on a great chance. Here is a link to that chance. https://vine.co/v/iXAP1ZPPgdz

Wayzata advances to the AA state championship with a 2-1 win. Pretty good game real exciting ending to it. Game 2 with Eden Prairie and Grand Rapids should be a real good one too.
-
I had heard most of that but didn't hear that the picture was from 9 months ago that even makes it look a worse move by the East player. If the East player is an underclassmen and McLaughlin is back at Rapids next year maybe they can settle it on the ice.
-
Breck beats Thief River Falls 4-0. Prowlers really couldn't generate many chances at all against Breck. Hermantown up 6-1 on St. Paul Academy in the 3rd. Should be a good class A championship game between Breck and Hermantown or at least I hope so since only 1 of the class A games so far has been a good game.
-
Ethan Johnson had a couple chances against Breck but Breck did a good job of keeping him to the outside and was really suffocating him. Noticed him looking for more of the stretch passes today but Breck didn't allow any of it to happen.
-
I definitely noticed Mattson last night he is really skilled and solid skater too. He showed some physical play and willing to go along the walls and he will become better at those things as he adds more strength. He looked to play more of a playmaker role last night compared to other times I've seen him where he has been more aggressive driving the net and getting shots on net.
-
Miller is a junior I believe.
-
The more I see of Soph. defenseman Chase Hartje of Bemidji the more convinced I am that he will be a very good college player. He logged a lot of minutes tonight against Grand Rapids and was excellent. Great skater and puck mover he rushed the puck more tonight and was more offensive minded then I've seen in other games he is gonna be a real good one.

Mattson makes a great play to setup the game winner in OT for Grand Rapids.
-
Grand Rapids wins it 3-2 in OT on a great setup by Sioux commit Mattson. Great game between these 2 teams easily the best of the tournament so far. Would have liked to see them meet later in the tournament rather than the quarterfinals. Hopefully Grand Rapids can win a couple more and bring the AA title back to the north.
