Garver allowing the strikeout to reach was what started the "rally". Garver should be the 3rd catcher with the way he is playing right now.
-
Even with the extension if the Vikings win like 4 games or fewer which looking at the schedule and the product on the field seems very possible I'd be shocked if Zygi didn't fire Zimmer and probably Spielman too.
-
Garver had a great year last season and I'm sure Rocco is hoping he can find himself again here but right now Jeffers is a much tougher out at the plate and needs to be in the lineup heading into the playoffs.
-
Looks like the Yankees are finally gonna lose again down 10-1 late to the Red Sox. Reds up 7-2 in the bottom of the 7th against the White Sox. Win tonight would be big for the Twins.
-
I've always dreamed the Vikings would have a shot at Trevor Lawrence but I never really thought it was realistic but after these first two games I'm feeling optimistic. Vikings need to blow the whole thing up. Bring in a new GM and Coach and get rid of some of these guys that have been there a while. Defensively Vikes used to be aggressive and have some well designed pressure but now Zimmer just sits back in a base D and teams run and pass at will. Offensively Kubiak is stuck in football from like 10 years ago. 75% of the passing game is off play action and most of the rest is quick slants. Really no spread concepts at all. Can't get Cook near enough touches either. Think Zimmer also has played in big part in handcuffing what the offense can do the last 5 or so years too.

So much wrong in that 7th for the Twins. Why bring in Clippard? May threw like 8 pitches and looked good let him go another inning or let Duffey, Romo, or Rogers start the inning. Twins get an easy gift double play on the White Sox baserunner misreading the fly ball but Kepler can't make an accurate throw to first base. If he makes the throw Twins are out of the inning with the lead. 4 pitch walk to Grandal to give one of the best hitters in baseball the opportunity to tie the game in Abreu. Make good pitches to Abreu and a slow roller to Polanco that he didn't have much urgency with turns into an infield hit.

3rd base coach sent him. 2nd baseman had the ball barely in the outfield grass as Buxton touched 3rd. Not a good coaching decision.
-
I know Rocco really doesn't change the batting order up much but I'd have a tough time not moving Buxton up some with the way he is hitting right now. Bullpen seems to be in pretty decent shape so why in the world would Wisler be the first guy in for the 6th in a 3-2 ballgame? C'mon Rocco!

Sure seems like it. Momentum has been building for the last couple weeks. Guy who has nailed a few different Gopher stories the last few years like Fleck taking over, Fleck contract extension, Lucia being fired and Motzko being the target had the October 17th timeline 2 weeks ago on the Gopher 24/7 message board. Presidents won't admit they made a mistake and when they cancelled were just hoping the other leagues will all follow instead they'll lean on the availability of 15 minute tests being a game changer. Sounds like the vote could be as early as later tonight but might not hear official word until tomorrow.

I'm with you. I loved Graterol and thought it was a horrible trade. Admittedly I hadn't watched much of Maeda before and mostly went off numbers and thought we were getting another 3/4 starter. He has been so good this year though.
-
I'm happy to see they're going with Berrios and Dobnak tomorrow in the doubleheader and not using one as a bullpen game. Sounded like Cruz, Sano, and Polanco would all be back in tomorrow as well.
-
Was great last year too. When they lost Pineda the chance to beat the Yanks really went out the window last year. If Berrios can continue to find his command as we go on here we could actually have the makings of a legit rotation heading into the playoffs.
-
Rocco absolutely puzzles me with a lot of what he does. Like pinch running Cave for Rooker in the 5th yesterday or some of his bullpen decisions last week. More often than not I'm not a fan of decisions he makes. Despite the home run not a good day for Rosario running through the stop sign with nobody out in an inning where you really could've broke the game open and then not knowing the ground rules allowing Schoop to take 3rd on his hit.

After the Twins stole a couple games the last couple days it looks they will let a 4 run lead going to the 6th slip away. Bullpen was brutal today with May, Duffey, and Romo all struggling. Then Smeltzer entered and again looked like he shouldn't be up. I'd think they would give a guy like Duran or Chalmers a shot over the garbage Smeltzer throws up there soon.

Swept by the Tigers. 5-8 I think combined against Detroit and Kansas City. 5 losses in a row. This team looks really bad right now. I know they are dealing with injuries but a lot of other teams are too. The offense has been horrific lately with just 13 hits total in 3 games in Detroit. 2 of those games came against rookie pitchers who came in with a 7+ ERA and a 11+ ERA. With the offense struggling the way it is why do we continue to see guys like Cave, Adrianza, Vargas, and Wade out there instead of giving guys like Kirilloff or Rooker the at bats. Still have 13 games left with the White Sox, Indians, and Cubs too. Guess I should include 7 games left with Detroit since we can't beat them too.
-
Ugly game one for the Twins and that makes it 3 losses in a row. Gotta break out of this skid in game 2 with both Cleveland and Chicago moving ahead of the Twins and into 1st place.
-
I've hear first round but who says first pick? Trevor Lawrence has been the consensus number one from basically everybody for over a year now. Lance isn't even the 2nd QB for most scouts, that would be Justin Fields.
-
Some ugly baseball from the Twins the last few games.
-
Big early statement from the Twins. Winning early series against what are expected to be the top 2 challengers in the central.
-
These numbers sure don't seem like teetering on the edge to me but there isn't much I've agreed with that Walz has done or said so I guess why start now. The speculation the last few weeks on schools at least up here in northern Minnesota had been that it seemed like he was gonna give some freedom to each school district to decide what they wanted to do. I know the superintendent where I live said in a letter to all the parents the only way they will be fully online is if the governor imposes it again. So I've thought for a little while now kids will be back to school at the very least every other day or something like that so that probably means Walz will declare tomorrow he rules all and everyone from pre-k to Seniors must be fully online.

Slow start for Donaldson. Looking forward to see how Hill and Bailey look this week. Cave had a real nice weekend but still hoping Buxton can go tomorrow. Seems like Sano always gets off to a slow start. Cruz must absolutely love facing the White Sox. With the expanded playoffs I'd be surprised if the White Sox aren't in it this year. I think they'll finish in 2nd ahead of the Indians this year. They definitely got some hitters that is for sure. Giolito should be an ace although the Twins lit him up in the opener and Keuchel is a solid option but not sure on the rest of their rotation. Defensively they need to improve a little too.

You will see players taking a knee across many different sports and many different levels and if that is your tipping point you might as well start making plans to not see many sports at all. Personally I couldn't care less if players, coaches, or entire teams want to take a knee. I will support the athletes, coaches, and teams on the field and off and enjoy watching them perform for the teams I follow.

Read this as part of an article on 24/7 sports thought it was a pretty good breakdown. Need more of this type of thing in mainstream media instead of them freaking out about how can their be a season every time a school has athletes test positive. https://247sports.com/college/ohio-state/board/120/Contents/the-sunday-bucket-wants-bama-148396150/ Is anyone really surprised that a large number of athletes are asymptomatic but testing positive for COVID as they get back to campuses across America? Is this really a shock to anyone? It’s been all over the sports headlines recently: NHL players in Arizona (including superstar Austin Matthews) tested positive, Kansas State temporarily closed down workouts, a ton of Clemson and LSU players tested positive and virtually all of them are asymptomatic. This is what happens when we actually test for it, folks. Do you know how many Americans were tested for COVID last week alone? THREE AND A HALF MILLION. Back when this started, we had less than a million tests per week for the first month. According to the CDC, every week testing has skyrocketed and the % positive rates has dipped from 20% or so down to about 5%. Again, this is the widespread testing we’ve been talking about. It will only get more widespread as soon as tests don’t feature an 8 inch Q-Tip poking your brain and casual testers can just get a saliva swab. And all of these athletes previously had zero reason to get tested: They were young and healthy and going about their business like it was no big deal. I’m not surprised that initial testing found a fair number of positive cases. Clemson tested like 200 people and about a dozen ended up positive. That’s approximately 5%, directly in line with last week’s national average. Once you get them all back into a fairly controlled environment, that number among athletes should drop too. But here’s the kicker: The risk inherent to this isn’t to the athletes themselves. In the entire country, the number of COVID deaths for the college bracket (the CDC statistic I saw had it from ages 15-24) is 125 total deaths. Out of 103,000. That’s 0.01% of the total! It’s the coaches in their 50s and 60s, it’s the family members, support staff, Jerry Emig, etc that these tests are protecting. Of the COVID deaths in America, 96% are in people ages 45 and older. 91% are ages 55 and older. It’s not the athletes here that we’re really worried about. So let’s keep calm when we see headlines like “LSU PROGRAM QUARANTINES 25!” or “NHL FACILITIES TEMPORARILY CLOSE DUE TO CORONAVIRUS!” This level of testing will stop the localized spread within the team and as testing becomes more common nationally it is going to stop the spread in general. Seriously, let’s get that saliva test active here, folks. I’m not getting a Q-Tip poked into my brain unless I have to. We’re going to have sports and we’re going to have positive COVID tests. By the way, the two week quarantine is a thing of the past for these athletes: Now that you can test people on the daily, you’re going to see people back as quick as a day or two later because their testing will tell when they’ve officially ‘recovered’ from it. I bet you most teams test their players once a week this season, likely on a Sunday or Monday, so that anyone positive can have the chance to recover in time for the next week’s game.

Never driven a semi have no idea how long it takes. I knew he was on the highway legally before they announced the closing and said that in my posts. Still doesn't mean he couldn't have exited off, there was like 2 hours between when they announced they'd be closing the interstate at 5 and when the incident happened. Maybe he did his best to slow down and he certainly did lay on the horn. There was no way he had slowed down to 30 by the time he got to the front of that crowd though. Watching cell phone video he was way over 30 when you saw those protesters diving out of the way. No matter the intent or lack thereof it was a scary situation and thankfully disaster seems to have been avoided.
