Huge chance for Wisconsin here with the late powerplay.
-
This B1G championship just looks bad and slow right now especially compared to the HE game. Hopefully Wisconsin can get something going and bring a little intensity, they probably have to have the next goal to have a chance to win it.
-
The boys took care of what they could take care of today and now we just have to wait. I hope the 3 games in 3 days will hurt Ohio State, LETS GO WISCONSIN AND UMASS-LOWELL!
-
Agree this game more than any other this year should tell us everything about this team. There should be nothing left in the guys tank by the end of this one and there has to be a sense of urgency and desperation from the Sioux today.
-
At least Western Michigan was trying to build momentum for the playoffs in that game, this time they are done no matter what after today.
-
Sioux have everything to play for and Western Michigan really has nothing to play for. I think a quick start and an early goal is important today for the Sioux. Need to take advantage of the chances and finish on them today. Here is hoping there's a reason for me to be cheering for Lowell and Wisconsin later tonight.
-
Need a Sioux win tomorrow, Wisconsin wins, and Lowell wins and we are in the tourney and at least have a chance and that is all I want right now.
-
Yeah I edited my post and just realized I hadn't saved the results and USCHO had changed the Sioux game back to a win instead of a tie.
-
I know most have said we need to win tomorrow to have a chance but there must be some scenarios where the Sioux can get in with a tie. Messing with pairwise predictor this is a scenario where the Sioux get in with a tie. Robert Morris wins Atlantic Wisconsin wins B1G Colgate wins ECAC Lowell wins Hockey East Denver wins NCHC Sioux tie Ferris wins WCHA EDIT: Looking at it closer the Tie didn't save and had changed back to a win. It seems the best a tie will do for us is put us tied with Michigan for the last spot but looks like they win the tiebreaker.

Agree way to passive and sloppy again tonight and not a lot of crispness from the Sioux tonight.
-
Not a lot went right for the Sioux tonight. 2 missed empty nets and a couple posts and as the Miami goalie said in his interview they got quite a few of the bounces and that is just the way it went tonight. Timing also seemed off all night as passes just missed and way too sloppy again tonight. It has been a trend these last few games but a lot of decent chances were the guys can't even put the puck on net again tonight. Officiating was absolutely awful and helped Miami out with a lot of interference and stick-work they did and not much of it being called. Also a few times when the Sioux would get pressure and Miami just pushed the net off to get a whistle and nothing was called but we get a soft penalty in the 1st and it leads directly to Miami getting the first goal. Have to be better tomorrow and find a way to get a win no matter what and then hope Wisconsin and Lowell can take care of business.

Not sure anyone called him the best forward in the state but he is in the top group, I think people were calling him one of the top scorers in the state which he is.
-
Wow down goes Duke again, Mercer comes from the same conference as Florida Gulf Coast and will try to make the same cinderella type run.
-
Andrew Lindgren from Eagan was pretty impressive in the state tourney and has had very good numbers and his brother plays at SCSU but I'm not quite sold that he can be a #1 guy in college yet. I wouldn't be surprised if our next goalie comes from juniors somewhere, I would guess Hunter Shepherd who won the top goaltender award in MN this season may be an option with a good season in juniors next year. Further down the line I really like Jake Oettinger a freshman this season from Lakeville North.

Thought I had another upset picked right with NC State but they choked away a 16 point lead with 5 minutes left and lost to Saint Louis in OT.
-
Very good goaltender really wanted him and was hoping he would take over when Zane was finished.
-
I picked both of them too. The Harvard win didn't even really seem like an upset watching the game and listening to the announcers. Tough start to the tournament for the B1G with Iowa losing in the first 4 and Ohio State being knocked out in their 1st game.
-
Even watching some of the Miami/St.Cloud series I still wasn't real impressed with them. They are still pretty bad in their defensive zone and on the PK. Their goaltender didn't handle a lot of things clean one example was the horrible rebound he gave up for SCSU to push it to OT Friday. Sioux need to clean up the turnovers and transition play and play physical without taking penalties and I think they'll be fine. Miami does have high end forward talent with a lot of speed which is why it is important to put a body on them and keep them to the outside. I do think Zane will have more clean looks this weekend and less traffic and tips to deal with than he did against CC as when I've watched Miami they don't seem to get traffic and to the net a whole lot and they generate most of their opportunities off the rush. I do believe the Sioux are still undefeated this season when the game is televised by CBSSN which is the case Friday.
-
I'm fine with either, Ausmus brings the physical presence while Thompson brings more offensive upside and is a better puck mover. I think it would be fine if they keep going Friday with Ausmus and Saturday with Thompson although I think the coaches may look a little more at matchups and decide which style of play is more needed at this time of the season depending on the opponent.

Survive and advance is what really matters at this time of the season but definitely some things to clean up in practice this week. Gotta be better on the breakout and really cut down on the turnovers. Ladue has been very solid all year but the last 2 games he has definitely struggled and we can't afford bad turnovers like the 2 he has made the last 2 nights that ended up in the back of the net so I hope he gets back to playing the way he can. I thought we played well at times tonight and really brought it but other times there definitely seemed to be a lull too. Have to be stronger in front of our net tying up sticks and clearing players to give Zane a chance. Get on Miami early on Friday and make them remember what happened the last time they were on the ice with this Sioux team.
-
I believe they actually went away from him and gave Slubowski the start last night.
-
Zane has made some real big point blank saves in both 1st periods of the first 2 games to keep the Sioux in the game. I'm sure the first couple goals yesterday he would want back but the first one was just a real strange play and the 2nd one our d should have stepped up and closed the gap on the CC player instead of backing in to the dots. I'm very confident Zane will have a very strong game again tonight. Limit the odd man rushes and turnovers, play right from the opening faceoff and I'm confident we will be at Target Center next weekend.
-
Thorimbert was the biggest reason that CC was even in this game and had a chance to win it. Ladue has made the simple play so many times and I'm sure he really wishes he would have in OT there. Sioux need to come ready to play right away tomorrow and if they do the game will look a lot like it did tonight during the 2nd and 3rd period. Come ready to play, clean up the turnovers, and convert on the chances and we should punch our ticket to Minneapolis.

I watched him in a state tournament or two and could never figure out why he wasn't getting more hype and attention. Most people were too focused on Randolph during that time.
-
He was only a junior in high school this year so if he went to USHL next season he could be here for the 2015 season and looking at our roster situation we would have 17 forwards already for that season if nobody left early and that also includes Voltin and Rowe who may never make it to campus and also includes Sanderson who will probably never be anything more than a practice player. I think we could find some room for him in that class. If he decided to play at WBL again next season and then in the USHL we would have plenty of room for him.
