Is that a scientific fact? Gophers get a call. SS blows up. Shocker.
-
So has every team in the country, including Minnesota. They still got the call right. Oh and he didn't see it coming and turn at the last second. Never mind no one would intentionally put themselves in harms way with the chance to have their head slammed into the boards.
-
I don't know. How many times? I only watched the 1st period, but it was mostly DU. You might be right though about the rest of the game.
-
Will miss this rivalry for the next 4 yeas to be sure. I like adding BC but would prefer to see UND rather than ND.
-
Thanks?

Nice win last night btw. I know it's UAA but to have that many guys out and still dominate is pretty impressive imho.
-
You shut your mouth!!!!!

I do too. These teams should play 2x in the WCHA, wuck Fisconson.

fightingsioux4life, tell that to the fans of UW, UMi, BC, UM, DU and others. It's one thing to believe that year in and year out your team should compete it's quite another to expect that they should win the NC. Each and every one of these programs have had significant stints without a title and while the assumption may be to blame the program the proper realization is that there are dozens of other programs every year that are gaming for the same result before the season begins and others that feel good about themselves a few months in that perhaps were not expected to compete. UND has a damn fine program with a rich tradition and rarely suffers, but that said stuff happens. As much as a UND fan would love to rip on the Gophers, did it really make sense for that program to not win a NC from 79 to 02? Likewise was it logical to expect them to repeat in 03? Your fans rightfully demand excellence because the program delivers, but the fact is winning a NC aint easy. Sorry for jumping in but you guys know exactly how we felt for several years following 79 made even worse by 89 et al...

bfd. It was one fan only and I am sure every team has a fan that makes crap up.

Wade Murphy of Penticton headed your way?

I won't compare the Twins to UND but I've long felt the Twins are easily as popular as the Vikings locally here but the NFL as a hole trumps MLB. I swear I see far more Twins gear worn than the Vikings. That's obviously just an observation, but I did stay at a Crowne Plaza last week. Regardless UND doesn't have to take a backseat to anyone you have a great fanbase.

You guys obviously know your program much better than I, but even if Kristo leaves I think this year sets up well for next. Your team was still relatively young, the coaching speaks for itself and this year could be a huge motivating factor for the returning players and by proxy the incoming kids. If UND has shown anything under Hakstol it's don't count them out until they're out. fwiw I think after Nelson adds some girth he'll be plenty solid at the next level.

Maybe, but possibly not the right place and time to talk about it. Not to say Sioux fans can't talk about it fairly, but I know the last thing I'd want to see right after a Gophers loss is an opposing fan telling me on GPL that it was deserved. Talk about the game, discuss what happened, sure but give it some time otherwise. Sioux will be back to themselves next year I am sure and of course giving me fits. Now lets hope UM/UND can find a way to keep this rivalry going. I have a feeling it won't happen the first year or two of the Big 10 but they'll eventually get it worked out. Good luck next year.
-
What? How can you say a program of Minnesota's pedigree should never be more talented? Also congrats on the season even though it clearly didn't end like you wanted. Pretty sure UND will be in the hunt again next season - the last one in which these programs will regularly meet.
-
Should be a grandaddy of em all. Nervous as hell but optimistic at the same time. Weeeeeeeeeeee.....
-
Yes, because no UND fans live here and it's such a long drive from Grand Forks.
-
Both teams were guilty of stuff, but come on he DID grab Rau look at the replay. Hope O'Donnell (sp?) is ok. I hate seeing that happen to a player and hope the injury won't linger. I don't like seeing this rivarly end after next year. Good luck the rest of the way despite what the fans think of the other.

Not really the context: I think saying the intesity was suprising isn't the same as whining. Even Bombardir on KFAN today was asked about his most memorable UND game and he said it was his first game at Mariucci. Why? Because the fans were on him the second the team began leaving the locker room and they were saying things and, "they didn't even know me". He wasn't whining and it was actually a pretty funny anecdote. But the fact is he was surprised by the intensity and I have to imagine until you find yourself in that situation that it's not that uncommon. But I guess some fans will look to anything.

No one needs the "right" to taunt - it's part of being a fan.

Who are all these fans and prognositicators claiming the Sioux have no chance this weekend? There is a ton of enthusiasm surrounding this weekend yes, but that is a far cry from claiming 4 points are in the bag. Yes, fans would love to see a sweep but I think far more than not are expecting a split. Either way who cares? Neither Strib writers nor GPL fans will influence the outcome. btw, who are these players scoring 4 goals and what have they done with the Minnesota Wild?
-
I don't care to rip on ND in general (not to say it's never happened, this is a rivalry) but fans lay it on thick in both directions. And Goon, that was not a grammatical error that was typo. No one but you would confuse someone writing, "before your toss" for "before you're toss" instead of the obvious, "before you toss".
-
First time for everything. (and before your toss a nut I don't care if this is the first year or not. Learn to have fun with the rivalry or stop being a fan. This is supposed to be about fun. I love this weekend not because of hate but because this is the best friggin weekend of hockey on the planet)

The hot start for the Gophers and slow start for UND on paper indicates things are working in the Gophers favor, but sometimes a team needs a few games to start finding themselves and obviously UND is going to be mentally up for this. Gophers need to continue to execute on the PP and PK and continue to limit shots to the outside. UND needs better goaltending and to find some puck luck as it sounds like they've dominated play at times but haven't been able to bury the puck. I'd love to say I expect a sweep but I honestly can't.
-
I don't think it is either - you're probably not used to the Gophers hitting period.
