Damn sad to see this rivaly put on hiatus for a few years. Even if they were to play next year it won't mean as much with them being in different conferences, but still... We're never going to see eye to eye, but this has been my favorite sporting event since I can remember and I went to my first UM game in 1973!! UND only got 1 point but you guys are far from done and who knows WCHA playoff and NCAA games could still be in their futures. Good luck.

Hate to be a voice of reason, but your squad could have easily been up 2-1 after 2 instead of down and who knows how it goes from there? You guys had great stretches of putting the Gophers on their heels, but the UM defense and Wilcox came up big. Those scenarios could have turned in your favor were the game played again. I love my squad and appreciate their talent, but UND has big-time talent and if the Gophers want to have any chance of 3 points or a sweep will have to play better tomorrow night because UND is going to bring it from the first puck drop tomorrow night if I know your team. I can't lie, the 3rd period was fun for me to watch but again that could have been your result. btw - was weird to see both PPs struggle and iirc both came up empty? That probably doesn't happen 2 games in a row.

I think you're selling your team short - I wouldn't be surprised for the score to be reversed. Lot of skill going both ways, difference so far has probably been Wilcox. Both PKs are doing their job so far.

Players can't fight in college and fighting majors at the college level are few and far between and that's even true of players at UND. The evidence suggests that at levels where fighting didn't make him lose time he engaged, yet in college he uncharacteristically became a hack? First he was a wuss which is verifiably false given his fight history in juniors and in the pros, then it was he sat in the stands in the playoffs which is false given stats prove he played in every game that year (something only a handful of other players did) including an assist against Denver in the WCHA final, now you're going to argue his minutes were limited. Not only is that not the topic (which is you always arguing he's a wuss), but Bickel played in every game that season including the playoffs - something only 6 others from that same roster can match.

Helgeson has had fights before, but that was in juniors where it didn't cost him playing time like it would in college. Goon made the same claims about Bickel despite the fact he too won plenty of fights before coming to the Gophers and has continued to do so in the pros.
