Close but not quite. We are all Fighting Sioux fans. There are other here who have made it very clear that thay are no fan of the University of North Dakota. Anyone openly admitting that they don't think there will be or care if there will be harm from sanctions on the student-athletes, athletic department and the University as a whole are not fans of the University of North Dakota. And it has been made clear before which one can survive without the other and it isn't the nickname and logo that goes on the jersey, those have both been changed before. The University of North Dakota is the constant in the equation.

Wrong. Your point was that they could make a statement by doing it AND there are already schools that do this, meaning that is has been shown in the past to be successful. What part of does not imply that you are saying there are schools that are already doing this? You are right that you have not offered to give any examples. But you were asked for some by myself and other because no one can seem to find any of these mythical colleges that are some of the finest in the country without athletics. You are the one deflecting and you are the one who continues to make statements/post other's statements that have lies and misconceptions in them as fact while they are continually proven false to you.

Gene Taylor said he wanted a home and home, with nothing guaranteed in the future to allow him flexibility. Faison wanted a game every year. The contracts being discussed and sent over to NDSU were a home and home. Gene Taylor got what he wanted, now the question is why is he wavering and saying school presidents might need to get involved? Pretty sure that isn't standard practice in scheduling at either NDSU or UND.

I agree 100% that it is not a good feeling to know that those that are fighting for the University to be the best it can be now want the same end result as those who have come after UND for years with accusations and stories, with the majority of those proven to be baseless and fabricated. I only agree partially with your second statement. It is true that continuing to argue with those on here who have dug in their heels will not change their mind. But there are many are many people who only read what goes on in these forums and do not participate, most likely a lot of people with limited knowledge of the history and proceedings of this mess. By allowing those who won't face the reality of the situation to continue to put out fairyland situations or asinine comments where the threats aren't real, those people searching for information on the subject are very likely to walk away with the wrong idea. That can not happen. People need to be properly educated on the matter and make their decision from that. The Alumni Association is taking the lead on that in the traditional media, there are many on this board who are making sure that same message is delivered for those looking here for information as well.

I feel confident that it is accurate because your response shows you don't understand it. Also, I'd ask for examples on what is wrong with it but looking at your track record, I know you will either change the question or use some straw man argument and avoid it.

They didn't want uninformed people spewing misleading information. I'd also like to join in the those asking you for what lies are in that ad.

Really? Because here was your original argument... It seems to me that your point was that even if UND drops their athletics, they could still be like some of the finest colleges in the country. Yet you can't provide one. This isn't semantics, it is you being called out on a blatantly false statement. You say it is all about being one of the finest schools even without sports, yet you can't provide any of these schools. Who are some of these finest colleges in the country that don't have sports that you refer to that UND should aspire to be like?

Same spin that was quoted as truth by NDSU fans when the VB and MBB games were scheduled. NDSU has proven themselves no more then EWU (a team NDSU fans love to rag on) has the last couple years. A playoff appearance followed by a national championship. NDSU has a couple more years before you start declaring yourselves as a Montana or Georgia Southern. As was shown this year by NDSU (successful) and UNI (unsucessful) scheduling, it is becoming a lot harder to get those two home counter games without signing a home and home and teams will keep holding out for big time money because they know they can. And we are talking about games 3 and 5 years out. If you don't think they field will be close to level by then, you don't remember history all that well.

^^^^^^^ Speaking of lashing out when you're proven wrong ^^^^^^^ Dave, you still haven't listed those top schools that without athletics that UND could be like by dropping their athletic program. Remember, the ones that you claim exist but yet you still haven't been able to name.

This is always conveniently excluded when UND is blamed for stopping the rivalry (in football). Does anyone actually think that UND would still be on NDSU's schedule today if UND wouldn't have cancelled the games? Was NDSU really going to keep UND on their schedule when UND wasn't a counter or NDSU got into a conference and only needed a couple of OOC games to fill out their schedule? The games where going to stop regardless. It made sense for UND to cancel it when they did due to D-II playoff rules (that were changed within a year or two). Could they have renewed it after the changes? Yes. But how long until NDSU cancelled it after that, maybe another year or two?

Absolutely incorrect. The NCAA is abiding by the settlement that they signed with UND and the State of North Dakota. They have no reason to change their position from what was spelled out in the settlement. And knowing when to cut your losses is not giving up, it is being rational and reasonable, something that is missing from a handful of posters around here.

As has been explained many times, when NDSU joins the rest of the sports world by figuring out dynamic pricing, it may not bring more fans but will absolutely raise more revenue which helps soften the blow of the possible loss of an FBS game. You can't tell me that there people would refuse to go because ticket prices are an extra $10 for that game (minimum), which would raise an extra $150,000 without doing a thing (19,000 tickets less 4,000 student tickets). NDSU runs the same risk by brining in cream puffs to start their season. While not a rivalry game, anything can happen. But then again you also state that UND/NDSU was a rival game but hasn't been one in quite a few years, so I guess you cancelled your own argument on that. I can never figure out the logic of NDSU fans. On one hand, they claim they are light years ahead of UND and the game wouldn't be close (much like the cream puffs NDSU brings in to start each season). On the other hand they say that anything can happen and there is just that tiny possibility they could lose (which I don't hear about the cream puffs NDSU brings in).

You are full of it. Otherwise you would have been demanding that men's and women's hockey team wear their normal jerseys during the postseason because it would have made a point. But you didn't. Pretty easy to sit on the sideline and spout off nonsense. I will have to agree with you on your first point though. This is bigger than UND sports but not for the reason you think. It is bigger than UND sports because it is about the University of North Dakota as a whole being the most successful university it can be and not be hampered by sanctions and bad PR.
