My first thought as well. The staff was obviously protecting Studsrud due to an incredibly thin bench at QB. He was asked to be a game manager, not game changer, and while he did a pretty good job of it, I'm not sure that does anything more than put him in the conversation to be the starting QB next year, same as Mollberg and Bartels.

He was also almost 60 after his 6 years in Wyoming. He had more or less retired until USD begged him to come out of retirement. Here's some numbers to chew on: Since 2004, there has been exactly 3 coaches that have went from FCS or lower to a P5 school: Mike London (Virginia from Richmond) - was a former player Paul Wulff (Washington State from EWU) - was a former player Jim Harbaugh (Stanford from San Diego) There's also been 15 other hires by FBS schools that have where the coach was from the FCS or lower (including Bohl) in that time frame. Here's the list: North Texas, Rice, UAB, Army(x2), New Mexico State, Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, NIU, San Jose State, UNLV, Wyoming and Georgia State. Not exactly any dream destinations and two of the three that actually went into the P5 were former players with the third being Jim Harbaugh (who has pretty decent bloodlines and his dad was at one point the DC at Stanford).

Despite what the rubes from the south kept trying to convince themselves, it was going to be nearly impossible to get a legitimate P5 job jumping from FCS. Big time boosters have egos that get in the way. Wyoming is a stepping stone even if its only for 2-3 years.

I think its probably a cross between people already donating money and it not being a specific item (at this point). I also get that its hard to figure out what specifically to give to when you don't have a general idea on how much you will have to work with/offer.

Weren't there some FU trolls explaining to us in the "7-5 Hypothetical" thread how no team with 5 losses should ever be considered for the playoffs? Thinking Bethune was the one that has a complaint against Indiana State. 1-1 against FBS (beat FIU, lost to UCF), lost to MEAC champs (South Carolina St) and had then had a bad loss to Hampton their second to last game. Also had a win against Grambling who won the SWAC. Indiana St went 1-1 against FBS (beat Ball State, lost to Indiana), took 5th in their conference and lost 2 of the last 3, including their last game against WIU. They did beat Liberty and UNI which are quality wins. Would have been a pretty easy choice had they not choked this weekend, instead they left it open for debate. Idaho St. is a tough call, 0-2 vs FBS and 2-0 vs non-D1. Their 6-2 conference record was all they had to stand behind and they went 0-2 vs MSU/EWU (though both very close games) and didn't play UM.

Wonder if ESPN is testing the waters with the Big Sky, looking for a group of schools to help fill future programming as the P5 all continue start up their own networks? I could have swore I read somewhere on the internet that if ESPN does something two years in a row, that is most definitely the reason for it.

It will be a great showcase for Montana. The atmosphere at WaGrizz is second to none with the crowd and view.

Completely agree but for people outside of academia to think all of the sudden this process (or attempts to come up with a process) as it currently sits is moving to fast is dumbfounding.

Slow down? Huh? The nickname has been retired for almost 2 full years. And we have surveys about processes of a committee to discuss another committee. Not sure how much more than can drag out this process.

Huge comeback for the ladies tonight. Showed some serious character to come back after being down 18 at the half with Milwaukee starting off 10-11 on threes. Pull it if and win by 7. Huge second half by Loyd.

Last I heard (4-5 weeks ago) is that they were planning on having it enclosed by Christmas. I think the sides will go up very quickly and they only had one or two roof trusses to go last week. The roofing looked like it was moving at a pretty good pace. Not sure how much, if any, the early snow/cold weather/wind will slow them up.

They will select and new nickname and should. And as soon as possible in my opinion. They way this continues to drag out is causing more and more issues and is turning into a bigger joke than it has been for the last 5-10 years. It is giving one group (false) hope that Fighting Sioux may come back. It is letting other (falsely) think that no nickname is actually a long term option. UND has always been the University of North Dakota. When they had no nickname, when they were the Flickertails, when they were the Fighting Sioux, they were and have always been the University of North Dakota. That is the identity of the school and athletic programs, not a moniker, logo, mascot or whatever. With that being said, let's continue to give input as this is an important decision. Input from all stakeholders is needed to make sure it doesn't get completely botched and we end up with something that properly represents the University of North Dakota. This doesn't mean that we forget our history and remove every last remnant of who we were but by not moving on, we are purposely allowing this to cause more and more damage.

After a rough start, last night was a little bit better night for the Big Sky: EWU crushes Utah Valley (WAC) Sac St beats UC-Riverside (BW) in a nailbiter Montana State lost to Grand Canyon (WAC) Idaho (preseason #7/8 in the conference) knocks off South Dakota State (preseason #4 in the Summit) Overall OOC record currently sits at 5-13.

Actually saw that egriz is doing something similar. They were shooting for $100,000 for facilities and are about halfway there. Granted, some of it was going to be donated anyway, but it is impressive regardless. Link to their thread: Lets see if egrizzers can pledge $100,000 for our facilities

It was 3rd down when they went to spike it so they were only getting 1 shot on the field goal. Should have ran it down to 2-3 seconds left on the clock. Worked out in the end, learning for next time for Studsrud.
