Are you serious? Colin Adams scored consistently in a very tough league (USHL).....nothing since then. As UNDBiz pointed out the same could be said about Hoff (step below Adams IMO).....Mismash has been ok but I would argue he has performed below expectations given the hoopla he came in with. These were high end recruits (not elite, but high end) that have done nothing. Say what you want about St Cloud but they do good taking middle of the road players and getting them to exceed expectations. If only Jost hadn't left early.......none of this would have happened right?
-
So just making the tournament every year isn't good enough? I think the point made with Lizotte and Benson is that they were nice players in high school but not high end recruits. St Cloud took two non-descript ND players and made them into solid 4 year contributors. If St Cloud can do that, then UND should be able to take their higher end recruits and have them produce even more, but that hasn't happened lately.

It will take several years (if being objective) to determine how good or bad Kennedy actually was for UND. The one certainty is that he was pompous and lacking in people skills. His complete lack of awareness when it came to the timing/perception of some of his decisions was absolutely uncanny.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2019-20 Season

If true that UND is raising a parking pass to $650 a year that is purely outrageous. Not sure how that compares to other institutions but this is still Grand Forks. -

Now that's a lofty goal for what is supposed to be a premier hockey program. -

Unless Berry cuts some guys loose, this team will already be fully loaded with Seniors that can't score. JJ would only add to that. -
I can't recall the last time that a high end hockey player picked or didn't pick UND because they were truly worried about the quality of their education. For the next rung of players (non-elite), if they truly care about education first they will go Ivy league and they should if that's an option. Short of going to an Ivy league school.......or having an MBA from Stanford, there really isn't much of a difference between most schools. UND is fine for 90% of the country.

If he has 0 goals then I'd have to say yes.

You nailed it with the Canad Inn being great in principle. The customer service has always been a couple notches below horrible (especially the Tavern and Playmakers). However, there traditionally has been a steady stream of Canadians that will stop there anyways because they are hypnotized by the big red maple leaf. I've always been curious what would happen if a couple decent restaurants (maybe like an Old Chicago or another BWW) would open up nearby. Would Canad Inn be forced to get their act together with competition nearby?
-
Yes, but for the low price they paid to do it and the 2-3 days total it took to do it they should do it every couple years until they have money to do a complete redo
-
So basically just be happy with the participation ribbons that come out in the multi thousand $$$ season renewal packets that are being mailed out a little over a month from now? The championship club loves Kool aid drinkers like yourself. Does UND have a chance to rebound next year? Yes. Was last year below par? Yes. Was this season even worse? Yes. Not saying the world is ending tomorrow but don't pretend that this year was even close to where UND hockey needs to be.

I'm glad you were able to take time away from your MENSA meeting and English Comp class to call people names mixed in with big words that only serve to try and deflect attention from the team. Losing two to Canisius hurt in the pairwise? Say that out loud. It's not even a resurgent (not that I'm sure that they were ever good) Canisius team. That is where UND hockey is at right now. The crown jewel of the school is dangerously close to sliding into mediocrity and will need 2-3 Freshmen to come in next year and produce right away like Kristo, Spirko, etc, to avoid that fate. Not impossible but a tall order.
-
Ridiculous to have standards that low for a premier program like UND, but UND is shaking your hand for it (while their other hand is pick pocketing your wallet). UND hockey should have standards like Duke basketball, Alabama football, etc, not be happy with participation ribbons like Michigan Tech and Canisius get for trying hard each year.........well let's just stick with Michigan Tech
-
They absolutely equate. If Berry misses for a 3rd year he needs to be done. Wisconsin showed what happens when you ride a coach too long and you hit bottom. I don't think Eaves was a bad coach and I don't think Berry is a bad coach, but there comes a point where your record doesn't lie.
-
Funny you bring that up, because watching this year's hockey team was about as exciting as watching a robotics competition......or watching someone else play a video game.
-
That may be true......but UND can still offer a facility and a near NHL like fan following that should still make a difference. Parity has also affected college basketball in the sense that most teams can be competitive on any given night....but at the end of the season you still see the Duke, Florida's, and Kentucky's of the world.

Don't really blame Hennesy and even the Hons Twitter rant. They make a living/partial living by schmoozing the UND hockey team. Not much different than Paul Allen and the Vikings.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2019-20 Season

Agree that JBD is the biggie this off-season. If he leaves it's a trainwreck. Adams would be best served transferring to another college and sitting out a year to get bigger/stronger. On a positive note, I think the Hain Senden Smith line has the potential to be one of those prolific lines people talk about years down the road. -
There's no choice but to be all in on next year's freshman class. 2-3 of them need to hit and come in Senden like for this team to have any chance.
-
Thank God this season is over.
-
Stay the course....trust the system.....pucks will start going in.
-
We also would have accepted "they are now worth about as much as your UND football tickets"
-
Yawn.

DU 3-1 with an empty netter. Poolman scores the lone goal for UND. No reason to think UND suddenly finds offense this week as they have to step up significantly from the last two weeks of competition.
-
Mismash has shown flashes, Weatherby still has a chance as bigger guys can take longer to develop, and Guch has turned into what I consider to be a solid 2nd line type of scorer........but Adams has been a bust and shown nothing his two years at UND. He's the underclassman version of Hoff or even Januitenean. He's small, not particularly quick/fast, he's not strong, and he doesn't have a knack for being in the right place at the right time. Not a good combination.
