nope. it was all about politics. Of course, $$ and conference played a minor role. I have a hard time believing politics wasn't heavily involved here as politics is involved in EVERYTHING these days. I don't think it's being ignorant. However, I also think there's a reason we don't discuss political beliefs on this board and we should cease all talk of it right now.

Unless Derek Stepan has changed his mind since Jan/Feb, he'll be back for one more season as he stated as much earlier, stating he'd be back for another year. Brendan Smith is probably gone for sure. I'd also say Ryan McDonaugh is gone. But I'd expect another year out of Stepan. I still think they're kind of hosed though.
-
Well, he plays in the New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Midget Major Hockey league. I apologize I never played competitive hockey so I'm not familiar with the different levels and the order they go in... but I'm sure someone else around is familiar with what level this is.
-
Did you seriously just bring BMT in to provide evidence here? Do we really take BMT that seriously? Half the stuff on there is just teammate ribbing.
-
Yet Brendan Smith's 2 DUI's didn't hurt his chances. YET.

Seriously though, who wouldn't do well on a line with Trupp? Just put your stick on the ice and yell for the puck... -

Yup. He was Frattin's replacement. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at a center position, I think it depends what they decide to do with Hextall and Gregoire and if they'll split them up or keep them together and just insert someone in the middle. -

Lammy will take over Zajac's center spot on the third line, not the second. Our top 2 lines from this year are going to remain largely in tact, and I would vote to either a) insert Toews or Knight into the position, or b)convert someone to a center. I vote for Hextall since he did play center in juniors. -

Thank you! Yes, this means I agree with everything you said. -
Um...no. Simpson was accelerating before he committed. Our coaches did not tell him to accelerate. Until I hear the official word, I still say Simpson waits.

Chay actually came back way before the Frozen Four that year. We played St Cloud the final weekend and I believe he sat out that series and was back for the first round playoffs against Tech. He played in the Final Five and Regionals and was named to the all-tourney team at regionals. I don't think you can say he wasn't ready to play. He probably was still feeling some affects, but he was ready to play... just didn't have a good game at the Frozen Four. It happens.
-
stranger things have happened... just saying.
-
not an early departure though .... he wasn't going to be back anyway.

I don't use uscho for stats b/c I don't think they are accurate. Even when my job required me to need to find hockey statistics, i used collegehockeystats as all that site is is statistics, whereas uscho has other features.
-
it's incorrect. Jason has served 3 penalties for 6 minutes in penalties. http://www.collegehockeystats.net/0910/teamstats/ndkm

they think that every year. just because you light it up in mn high school hockey, doesn't mean your freshman year in the wcha is going to be smooth sailing. it's risky to rely on unproven freshmen, no matter how talented they are, in turning the tide on a season.

so much for the 2-3 games speculation all over the web. one game sounds about right.

It happened TWICE. Both their PP goals were a result of Cepis diving. Had the official called the dive, it could have been a different game. Don't know for sure, and I don't want to use that as an excuse ... but I'm angry right now so I need to vent.
-
Disagree completely. That wasn't a dive. You can clearly see the stick tripping VV based on the speed he was driving to the net at it's not surprising that he fell into the boards. And that's a dangerous play too since he went feet first into the boards. And Cepis better hope he never crosses paths with me down in the metro. I can be a bitter, angry person with a wrath like no other.

I'm getting tired of saying this, but Gregoire is NOT leaving after this year. In fact, I'm pretty sure I heard him say that himself. He's not NHL ready.
-
So you're saying Mac, who is a DEFENSIVE DEFENSEMAN and expected to worry about his own end and not expected to put up points at this juncture, will never play in the NHL because he doesn't have any offensive skills, yet you say Olsen will be a DEFENSIVE DEFENSEMAN in the NHL, likely also not expected to put up points and take care of his own end, because he has better offensive skills. Since when do defensive defenseman have concerns about providing offense? I find this to be an odd statement. Please elaborate.

MORE PEOPLE SHOULD VOTE FOR THIS PICTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3241...d=1380458917615 it's so cute! I have no affiliation to the owners of this picture. Oh, and no offense to the above poster trying to get votes to get tickets. I just think this pic is adorable.
-
AGREED. I'd rather watch on TV than spend an entire week's paycheck on a ticket to a Sioux/Gopher game... or any game for that matter! Some of us have bills to pay!
-
Gregoie is NOT leaving after this year. He'll be here at least another year unless he's really anxious to play in the AHL. Which I DOUBT.

Thanks Darcy, Chay and Vandy for all you've done and will do! Now let's go out with a bang! (a positive one!) GO SIOUX!
