  1. Glad I got mine prior to the on-sale. No way could I afford those prices.
  2. My apologies to those spending 3x the face value.
  3. They were the ones cheering for Holy Cross.
  4. Rodwell is out. A couple weeks it looks like.
  5. I don't know reasoning behind Housley's hire, but I did hear USA hockey liked his calm demeanor as a coach. There's obviously more to it than that, but that's part of it I am sure.
  6. Seattle, Everett, & Portland are WHL teams in American cities. There's also a couple OHL teams in Michigan.
  7. That's just comical. Isn't there an almost annual American major junior player that whines about not making the WJC team and says the reason is because he plays major junior? Let's be real, time for Canadians to learn the demographics of the American roster before they make outlandish statements like that. We Americans are all about diversity, Canada. Our rosters are mostly NCAA players, though I think this year has had more CHL players than in the past. Or maybe it just seems like it.
  8. The opposite could happen too. A kid could come to UND w/ average USHL stats, and have a great career in college. It's about development. More recently, Mike Parks didn't put up overwhelming USHL numbers, decent yes, and he seems to have done okay here thus far. My point is that it's all about what they do when they get here. It's fun to follow them now, but it all means nothing if they do nothing when they get here.
  9. Luke Johnson's numbers aren't that much better and he made the team... just saying... If you read the article, it says that each team has one representative in the game. The selection committee obviously felt Voltin was the best representative from his team. It's a prospects game. It's supposed to showcase the top draft eligible players in the league. Evaluators have to take into account a lot of different scenarios. There were some questionable selections last year too. For example, AJ Michaelson had terrible stats last year and he played in this game. Personally, I don't know why we can't all just say congrats and leave it be... it's a good opportunity for all these players to show their skills to scouts. Deserving (which is always subjective) or not...
  10. He centers the top line in Des Moines. He's going to have more assists than goals with those hands of his. If you've ever seen any of his shootout goals, you'll see more of what I mean. Des Moines isn't the most offensive team out there, as the scoring is pretty close among the top 10 scorers on the team. He seems pretty versatile because he's got the skill to play on a scoring line, and is gritty enough to play on a grinder line.
  11. I need an excuse to go somewhere warm! Hockey game is a legit reason.
  12. The problem with Miller is that he is a selfish liar. Call me immature, fine. I have zero respect for him. I hope USA does well at this tournament. But it won't change my opinion on Miller. I'm glad he didn't come to UND. No room on the team for guys like that, no matter how talented they are.
  13. For me personally, it was a lot of little things. Communication with students on deadlines was horrible. Course requirements were odd and random - not equivalent to many courses at other schools as you'd expect for Gen Ed courses. Parking situation was awful. That said, I know people that loved it there and I know people that hated it. It wasn't for me for a lot of reasons. I thought I'd like being close to home, but turns out I didn't.
  14. I've heard Peterson is one to watch as well as far as prospects go. Not saying we are, but in general.
  15. Well it's a terrible school... And I'm not talking about hockey. I went to SCSU for a year and a half. Just terrible. Maybe Mitch agrees.
  16. I'm perfectly content that they are angry. There's a reason the majority of our players they rip on are from Minnesota.
  17. THIS. Kind of going away from this topic though, I actually penciled Gersich in as a Gopher about a year ago, so I haven't been paying too much attention to him this year. But after his commitment, I understand his wanting to play for UND. The U of M doesn't appeal to everyone. He's from a smaller suburb (Chaska is about 20,000), and goes to a small private school practically out of the metro. Honestly, I think people from smaller communities often feel more comfortable at schools like UND. That's how I felt. The U was too overwhelming and huge for me. And look at some of the current players/recruits we have. A lot of them come from either smaller towns or smaller schools.
  18. I saw this one on the high school board "I didn't realize he was such a fan of attacking people in handshake lines and underage drinking." Now that's classy. I realize it's hard to comprehend why someone would not want to attend the most amazing academic institution to ever be created, but really? Accept his decision and move on. Don't just trash a kid you probably have never met because you don't like his decision. The Gophers had won the last I don't know how many recruiting battles. It was at least 5 in a row. They need to get a grip.
  19. Shane said they talked, but that it was not an all or nothing thing. It was in the article on the MN Hockey Hub site.
  20. He is... until he de-commits to go to the Q. I had to... lol.
  21. I had heard he wanted to go to a bigger name program, so I didn't think SCSU was the end game for him.
