  1. Affiliates are usually Futures and Entry draft picks. They can play limited games throughout the season. Gersich is an affiliate player because he is not on the main roster this season. plans for next year dont matter until the late summer. It allows the Lancers to protect his rights so he doesn't reenter the draft and go to another team. Players can move from the affiliate list to the active roster though, which is what happens after the high school season for high school players who play more than the 6 games.
  2. Contrary to the belief in some around here, the boys are not willing to chance that. We will win our home series against and go down to the Final Five and see what happens.
  3. That was inaccurate. There was an error that we lost a comparison that we didn't. We were actually tied for 8th. Please try harder.
  4. This is true. I saw our first shot of the game, looked at the shot clock and was thinking, "um, are you not going to count that?" And they didn't.
  5. On a side note, Austin Poganski is playing with the Tri City Storm in the USHL this weekend. It'll be interesting to see how he does.
  6. He's in his 2nd year of draft eligibility I believe. So he likely won't go real high. Those drafted after their first year of eligibility usually go late, if at all.
  7. I live in the SW metro and it's true that channel 23 sometimes has the Mankato games on. But most of the time it just says its on and there's some infomercial instead. The only time I saw a game was one against the Gophers that wasn't on FSN. Imagine that.
  8. Aw, another fellow SW Minnesota native? Yeah, it's basketball-land.
  9. No. He's a defensive defenseman. He's not there to pump in the points. He's there to provide other things.
  10. Box Score on the MN Hockey Hub has him with an assist?
  11. sorry! sometimes i just type in all lowercase letters! because i'm a lazy P.O.S.
  12. I don't think it's any big secret that I'm not a big Kyle Rau fan. But I hope by this statement you don't mean you hope he injures the kid.
  13. Definitely not one of HF's better efforts, tons of mistakes, a lot of which EP capitalized on.
  14. I was at this game. HoFam lost 7-1. It was clear they were going to lose halfway through the first period. EP looked GOOOOOOD. Really cocky, but good. Best team I've seen play this year, but I hear they are a bit Jekyll and Hyde, so. Now we see what Gersich's next move is.
  15. I'm sorry, but I disagree with this attitude. A no-big deal attitude just sends a bad message. These things are important. It's important to teach young kids sportsmanship and respect. I liked this take: Chaska coach Dave Snuggerud said, “What I saw is what everyone else saw. It’s unfortunate. I talked to my players right after the game about what’s important in life. It’s not a hockey game on Feb. 12, it’s about playing the game with character.”
  16. I agree with all this. Debate started b/c I was asked what his plans were regarding the USHL and repeated what I had heard at a game on his being tired of being cheap shotted, words got a bit twisted around. My bad. But really, no one enjoys being cheap shotted, obviously he's annoyed with it. But it won't be why he leaves HF. It's not like every team he plays cheap shots him. Wayzata was bad, but the last 3 HF games I attended were physical, but nothing shady. Point is, whatever he decides will be his choice, and I'm sure he will make that choice for the right reasons.
  17. I haven't heard that he is. He's a sophomore though, so that could change. Wouldn't surprise me if he did considering his draft year is his junior year of high school.
  18. Didn't mean to suggest/say it would be his only reason. There are plenty of reasons for him to go. Just that it was said he was getting tired of it. I didn't hear it from Shane. It was just some talk around. IMO he'd be gone whether he is getting cheap shotted or not.
  19. He can handle it - tough kid. AIso, I don't think Omaha took him 1st overall for him to play high school hockey either.
  20. You missed the point. Again. High school hockey had increased the penalties for boarding and CFB's. it has not decreased the intent or head hunting on the standout players. It's a concern. It doesn't have anything to do with physical play.
  21. Yeah, that's not accurate on the number of games affecting his ability to go back to high school. A lot of players play games before and after the season. Vinni Lettieri was with Lincoln for their playoff run last year, and could have returned to Minnetonka if he wanted to.
  22. I'm still amazed at the kicking call. I thought it was bogus. Shane puts up with a lot - he's a tough kid. If he goes to the USHL, great, he will be playing against some great players. If he stays at HF, great - I can watch his games more often. That said, I could see him going to Omaha after the high school season is done and getting in some games. I think that would be a good gauge to see where he's at as far as USHL readiness.
  23. Some teams are worse than others, the game you're referring to was the worst one I had seen as far as him being targeted. I said after that game that there's not a chance in hell he plays high school hockey next year. But you never know if someone is able to get him to stay.
