Can’t wait to hear the same old cliches from the coaches and players. Bottom line is this team isn’t very good. That is mostly on the coaches, either thru poor recruiting or development of the players. Probably a bit of both.
-
It would be if UND had a good team.

Definitely serious. He’s had a good run recently but his overall record is average even with this good run. His two titles are a good achievement but I feel like it is more than a bit of good luck. The fact remains that he has never won a single conference regular season title in 18 years. Some want to tar and feather a coach for missing one NC$$ tourney, maybe soon to be two. Sandelin has missed it 10 times including twice during this awesome run of success. Maybe the tide has turned and he will be a great coach from here on out. I can only look at the history and it is mixed at best. Right now he is having a good run, before that he wasn’t very good.

Both Sandelin and the previous coach (Mike Sertich) had periods where the team was pretty good. Overall Sertich’s win percent was .515 compared to Sandelin’s .524. Sertich coached for 16 seasons and won 3 conference titles and had 4 NC$$ tourney appearances (compared to 0 and 8 in 18 seasons for Sandelin). Not sure I see much difference. IMO, It was a bit more difficult to make the tourney when Sertich was coaching. Sandelin has the advantages in tourney titles 2-0. Maybe Sandelin can keep this recent success going and improve his coaching record but for me i would not want him as our head coach. The lack of a conference title in 18 years is a huge red flag to me. Winning the old WCHA or the NCHC is a better indication of how good your team really is versus a single elimination series where more often than not the best team does not win the championship.

Not sure I understand this fascination of wanting Sandelin as our head coach. Sandelin’s career record at UMD is barely above .500. He has had consecutive season records of 15-17-6, 11-25-3, 13-21-5, 13-17-6. In 18 seasons he has NEVER won a conference regular season title. He has missed the NC$$ tourney more times than he’s made it. I’m not a Berry fan but I also don’t want Sandelin as our next coach either.

While I’m not a fan of Berry as head coach, how long would a coach last at UND that has a career record of slightly above .500 ? In addition has put up consecutive season records of 15-17-6, 11-25-3, 13-21-5, 13-17-6. Also, in 18 seasons has never won a conference regular season title ?

Don’t know if Shaw is in it for the long haul. Will be interesting to see if he stays once his son is done playing after this season. I do think it will be his choice to stay or go, he’s not going to be terminated. -
Bill Chaves on Sunday morning, November 18, 2018

Chaves won’t do anything in regard to the coaches. He should but I don’t see it happening. Bubba and staff will be here for at least the next two years. Good luck with attendance. Gonna be quite a long time until we are a top team. Hard to get excited about the future of the football program. We can only be as good as the leadership at UND, from the president to the athletic director to the coaches. Do we really want to be a top team ? Are we willing to do what is necessary ? The ball in Chaves court to see what type of leader he is. Unfortunately I predict he punts. I sincerely hope I am wrong. -
A start but not enough. Bubba has to go. He has shown over and over again that he is not up to the task of building a championship FCS team. Keeping him and getting rid of some assistants does nothing in the long run but delay the timeframe when UND can compete for a championship.
-
Almost looks like the defense gave up once Bubba decided to give up and punt.
-
Seasons over. The only thing that would make this somewhat OK is if the entire staff is canned. Willing to bet that the AD won’t do it.
-
Bubba just surrendered.
-
And we are losing...
-
WTF will it take for Bubba to replace this QB ? Unbelievable !!
-
On obvious pass plays I would blitz Ketteringham every single time. UND can’t make blocking adjustments and Ketteringham doesn’t move and looks scared.
-
No chance this inept coaching staff will bring in a new QB. They should have done it earlier in the game and didn’t. They certainly won’t now.
-
I would like to believe that they cannot play a worse half of football than what we just witnessed. They are very lucky to be only down seven. Without the muffed punt by NAU this game might already be over. Not it sure the second half will be any better though. The running game has to be much better for any chance based on how Ketteringham looks. Straight ahead smash mouth football to start the second half. Take Santiago out, he doesn’t look right, and use Johannesson.
-
WTF ? Horrible management this last series. The coaching staff is incredibly bad.
-
If this is a loss bubba should go. If this is a win bubba should go.
-
Then the AD needs to go too.
-
I have said for some time the coaching staff needs to go. Can the current coaching staff win an FCS title ? I think the answer is obvious and hence they need to be replaced. I doubt that will happen. The only possible chance is if they lose their final two games. There may be a slight chance that could prompt the AD to action.
-
One question: Is it possible for North Dakota to win a championship in the future with this coaching staff ? My answer is: no chance whatsoever For me it’s time for changes. Certainly the offensive coordinator needs to go but I believe that has been obvious for some time. Therefore the head coach must be held responsible. Bubba’s in his fifth year and is an improvement over Mussman but I don’t see him getting it done. If it were up to me I might give him one more year if he got a new offensive coordinator otherwise he’s gone also.

We won the last game of the year last year. How did that work out ?
