  1. I assume by "The Fire Line" you mean Panzer-Bayda-B.Lundbohm Our offense did pull the trigger this year...quite a bit actually. They didn't crash the net as well, or pick up rebounds. Cycling the puck creates scoring opportunities, we just need to ask Raymond Bourque tips on how to have pinpoint accuracy.
  2. Yes he was...two sport star at Cretin-Durham Hall High School in St. Paul. Weinke had signed a pro baseball contract which is why he went to college so late, if I remember correctly. CDH has also produced Paul Molitor. Really good football and baseball school
  3. I agree...To me it looked like they were running some type of a man and a half forecheck, only not quite. I never saw anyone on the backdoor except on their only goal of the game. My JV High School team could have broken the puck out against that. They also apeared to be running a trap, and were more concerned about the offense of Minnesota than scoring. I don't think they were playing to win, they were playing not to lose. The Sioux should be challeging the Gophers next year for the WCHA crown.
  4. I am going to end this argument about age and out of state recruitment once and for all. As long as the player is eligble to play collegiate athletics, who cares. Don't forget that Chris Weinke was 28 years old when he played foetball for Florida State. I don't remember if they one a National champioship with, him...but as I recall they were damn good. If the Sioux or the Gophers have a player who is a 25 year old Canadian on their team, the better for them. Using age as an excuse why a title was won or that a team needed an out of state player to win one is obsurd...Let's just end it now.
  5. I was talking about tailgating from a students perspective, there were a couple people who got yelled at by REA security last year for it. For Gopher fans information, Students need to line up outside the door about 1.5 to 2 hours before the doors open to get a lower bowl seat, so before hockey games, unless it's extra early. Flatspin...what do ya say about coming back from Jersey for the Gopher games at Mariucci, so we can maybe get in on one of the Beer Darts games with WPoS??
  6. Ok, maybe I'm just a moron or something...but what exactly does JBSU stand for? SDSU will not be here, nor will the Edina Squirts...It's going to the Orono and St. Cloud Squirts, where do you people get your information? ...They will be better competion than SDSU
  7. I've never heard of that rule, personally, but it could very well be...Jim, all Great and Powerful Hockey Swami, what have you got concerning this? ...Is it a rule or not??
  8. Let's look at the two teams yellowdog picked to be ahead of us (Mankato and Duluth). First, Mankato loses BJ Abel...a huge loss for them. Abel was I believe among their top scorers and was IMO their best player. Next it would not surprise me to see Shane Joeseph and Grant Stevenson drafted. I think Joseph might go, but Stevenson will probably stay, I don't think that Stevenson will have as good a year without those two. Remember the Sioux outplayed the Mavs in Mankato, but were beaten by their goaltending. Next Duluth...they've lost Jon Francisco, by far their best player. Also, gone is Rob Anderson, Drew Otten, and Matt Mathias. Anderson was a pretty decent backup to Reichmuth, and Otten was as hard a forechecker as I've seen in the WCHA. BTW...what is the deal with Geisler? I heard he gets another year of eligibility. I think it's also safe to say that TJ Caig will get drafted and have a pretty decent offer on the table, as will Junior Lessard. If Lessard and Petruic (Ottawa) go, I don't know how Duluth will recover unless they have an amazing recruiting class. I'm not saying that Schneider, Money, Jones, Greene, Prpich, and Parise won't have nice offers in front of them, but Parise knows he's not ready for the NHL, same with Prpich...and the others have had one or two dissapointing seasons with the Sioux. I think they know the potential the Sioux have next year and will stay for at least one more year IMO. Yellowdog, I know I am biased, but at the same time, you are too. I have to say one thing about the Gophers...damn they have a lot of NHL draftees...Atherton (Tampa Bay), Sertich (Pittsburgh), P.Martin (New Jersey), Ballard (Buffalo), Potulny (Ottawa), DeMarchi (New Jersey), J.Martin (Chicago), Riddle (St. Louis), Koalska (Nashville), and Tallackson (New Jersey). Go Sioux!!
  9. Word from POI Lite is that Ballard will be returning next year. Good for them, bad for us. Also, Vanek's dad garauntees he will return while Vanek himself says he will wait and think about it over the summer. Greyeagle, I must say I liked the "conversation" between the two morons about the game. "Wow, we won dude" "Dude, in what" "Hockey, duuuude!" "Awesome, lets go burn something dude!" And be sure to thank jamo for directing them to Wisconsin, and not Grand Forks ...20 to 1 says some WERE BADger fans.
  10. Don't you mean Steven?? KGB...I should have mentioned that I was saying it in a sarcastic tone...actually, siouxrock might be a better choice, as the three I mentioned can spell and use correct grammar.
  11. I second that...Sioux/Gopher Beer Darts tournament. Unforunately REA won't let us tailgate, maybe the Alerus will
  12. What's your problem with BC? Other than they beat us 2 years ago for the National Championship...
  13. Yeah, that's what I thought too when I saw it...but you have to admit, the resemblance (sp) was uncanny. I think he just forgot to raise the other arm right away, either way his son just scored the game winning goal in the National Championship, and I'm sure he was just celebrating like any other parent would.
  14. I knew flatspin and I weren't the only ones to see that!!! And Jim...my weather thingy on my computer says it's 79 up here (though being Grand Forks, North Dakota...it could be down to 30 or 40 tomorrow , regardless of what the forecast says).
  15. While I can't speak for what happened when the Sioux won the National Championship in 2000, I didn't hear of any rioting up in Grand Forks, and when we won the Football National Championship, all we did was drive up and down University honking and yelling in the back of my friend's truck (damn, that was cold). I know it was only a small minority of Gopher fans (I would like to know how many actually were hockey fans), so I will not group the posters on this board with them, or the majority of Gopher fans for that matter, but that lacks class.
  16. No I don't think that they have.... I agree that UNH wasn't that impressive, just goes to show you that the west is THAT much better than the East. The score could have easily been 9 or 10-1. The only player on UNH that deserved to win by the way he played was Ayers.
  17. He played one game with them this year...The Wild's website still has him listed as in their system, so no you are not on crack
  18. Here's the numbers for the rest of the WCHA: North Dakota:16 (includes Curtis Murphy) Minnesota:10 Wisconsin:10 St. Cloud St:6 Michigan Tech:4 (no, this isn't a joke) Duluth:4 Denver:3 Colorado College:3 (includes Peter Sejna) Northern Michigan:2 Alaska:0 Mankato:0 Northern Michigan played in the WCHA in the early 90's...The two played for them when they were a part of the WCHA.
  19. bert, yellowdog, KGB,....fess up which one of you is it???
  20. Congrats to the Gophers...they deserved it. Vanek was outstanding in the 3rd, and Weber played the best I've ever seen them. Ayers stood on his head, but the UNH Defense chose to give up after Vanek's goal. Did anyone else see how pissed off he was at his bench near the end?? While I do feel real bad for the guy (In my opinion he was the best player on the ice), that was comedy. But I would have been pissed off too if I was playing my ass off keeping my team in the game and they were playing like it was all over.
  21. Bochenski might be a little biased in his statement. I have never met a player that didn't think their team was going to win it all. There is no doubt we will be contenders next seasson, but I wouldn't be so bold as to say we WILL win without a doubt . There will be a lot of really good teams next year in the WCHA, not to mention the country. I think we should just wait and see how it goes. To quote Barry Melrose..."There's a reason they play the games."
  22. I don't know...sprig's has a homemade thing going on. My vote is for his
  23. I understand...To be honest, I would be surprised if the Wild win Game 2. Colorado doesn't lose two in a row at home very often. I still have hope though. Oh, BTW...JJ is the Best 33, The proper hockey terms for LeNeveu's numbers are insane and sick. They were far from amazing.
  24. One of my roomates is actually a big hockey fan...but won't justify spending an extra $4 (actually $6, the third roommate is the cheapest kid I have ever met, so he won't throw down for it.) to see out of market college hockey games.
