If you're reading the same one I am it says UMD/UND @ GF November 23-24 (not 7/8). Then at Duluth 2/29 and 3/1 like you said. And thw UMD schedule was acquired from someone that works in the athletics office at UMD - it wasn't an official release. We usually don't get that until early summer it seems.

Unfortunately it depends on what is left of that class. Mason Raymond is as good as gone after this season, and I doubt Dallas will keep its first round pick Niskanen here through his senior year. It will be interesting - we haven't really dealt with that before here.

I don't want to get this thread too off topic, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of chatter anyways.... Do Sioux fans think there would be any way that Dean Blais would take a coaching position at tUMD? I know about the Fargo deal, and that MSUM will be looking this summer, but if those fall through would he look at Duluth? Keep in mind that he would 1) be taking over for his good friend he endorsed for the position and 2) tUMD can't afford to pay him top dollar My feeling is that it would never work out, but alot of our older fans hold on to the pipe dream. What are your thoughts? If I should post this in the Blais thread that's cool....

As I said in my intial post, most goals are coming on 2-1s or breakaways. They can't be expected to stop all of those. I didn't say they were great. They've been flat out getting beat but not letting in terrible goals for being out of position. But I'm sure you've seen a bunch of tUMD games this season so don't take my word for it. Nevermind, I see Goon is hard on all goalies - even his own team's!

No, he won't play. He's played one period all year and that was in an exhibition game. Stalock and Johnson will split the goaltending duties. Neither is as bad as the statistics show - much of the blame belongs on tUMD's team defense - it is TERRIBLE. Most goals come on odd-man rushes. tUMD has given up 7 shorties this year I believe. I'm scared that the Sioux forwards may make the Dog defencemen look like traffic cones this weekend. The games shouldn't be close, but tUMD shouldn't have beat Denver last time out either and Mankato had no business tying last Saturday. You never know what will happen in the WCHA, but UND beating tUMD has been a virtual lock in the past few years.

Dean Blais behind the bench in a new DECC would be super terrific. But as previously discussed, I doubt he would take over for his buddy Sandelin if he got canned. But you never know...

Another reason to root for NDSU against UMTC is that if the Bison pull the upset Sid Hartman may have a heart attack and die. (Not saying I wish for his death but if it happens it happens.)

Congrats to UND. As a Sioux fan you have to be happy that your program has decided that playing teams such as Crookston is a waste of your time and money. Good to see them take on bigger challenges (and succeeding!).

I'm confused. I've been reading on this board for a couple years that student athletes only want to play for schools that are eligible to win national championships. Are you telling me that some athletes would rather have a chance to beat a big D1 school (like Kentucky) than win a D2 title? I'll be darned. Who would've guessed it?

tUMD will not go D1 - we've had a hard enough time moving up from tNSIC to tNCC (money wise anyways - co-champs in FB ). As anyone that has been to tDECC can attest, our facilities are severely lacking. Our basketball gymnasium (I can't call it an arena) and our football stadium are terrible. There isn't any money or support here to move up. Hopefully the NCC only loses USD and then they gain Winona, Concordia. Northern and/or Bemidji or some combination of those and we move forward without having to take Mary, SWMS or the Upper Iowa Fighting Peacocks.

The NCC co-champs lost to Northern Iowa 49-14 last season. Obviously UND proved to be better than tUMD last season but I still think UNI is quite a bit better than any NCC team. UNI had four touchdowns of 25+ yards so if UND can limit the big plays perhaps they can keep it close. NDSU may have been able to keep their game versus UMTC close had it been scheduled in August or early September, but being it is in the middle of the Big Ten season the Gophers should be in better form and win quite heavily. NDSU doesn't have the depth yet to compete with a Big Ten team although they should play lowly Ball State tough.
