Nope. I've said all along the people out at the bars were complete jerks and a-holes. The people at the Ralph were fine (by fine I mean jawing back and forth but no threats of violence) except for the one. I know your town is small, but the 11,000 at the Ralph doesn't equal the population of Grand Forks. Just for the sake of argument... isn't the ticket base of the Ralph mostly from the greater Grand Forks region anyway? I thought I heard Deano say that a large portion of the fans drive 30+ miles or something to that effect... I dunno. Nothing inconsistent here although much of the weekend was a drunken haze.

And that was after getting swept at Mankato last year!

Nowhere did I say it was a student. He was probably 30-35 years old. And maybe you should read my post again. I said there was just the one incident at the Ralph. The people at the Ralph were great except for the one idiot. "I do know that the penalty box guys are not shy and love to talk smack to opposing fans." You are correct. We also do not punch people because they say our team sucks, we are ugly, etc., etc... I didn't start this thread, so don't get all upset with me. The thread starter asked about the incident with one of our fans and I responded. If you question the validity of my statement on the said incident, ask the friendly Ralph cops, or check the police reports from Friday night.

We had a great time overall in Grand Forks. Those people were just bumps in the road. DHG=drunkhockeyguy=Spongebob Squarepants in the top row of the Ralph Saturday.
-
No. Sorry if it came off that way. That one fan that punched our guy is the only one that was out of hand at the Ralph. Overall, people there just made comments and let it be, and that is what is supposed to happen. Most of the bad experiences came after the games, out on the town where we couldn't go 2 minutes without people harrassing us and threatening us physically. We can take the heat, so it wasn't that big of a deal. We've never had problems in any other town in the WCHA and usually have a good time with them after the games. Again, I know most of the people that post here are not the bad apples, so don't take it that way.

Friday night after the game Sioux fans were beaking us really hard. And most of it wasn't good-natured fun either. We chose to reply back that maybe everyone should just leave, it's just a hockey game, let's go booze, etc. etc... Well one Sioux fan wouldn't let it be and got in one of our guys' face. The cops were standing right there, and immediately stepped between them. The idiot Sioux fan takes a SWING at our guy, WITH the cop in between them. The punch did connect and the Sioux fan made himself a long night. He was arrested, and booked for assault, and enjoyed a night in the Grand Forks County jail. Pretty unfortunate incident. I don't know anything about the credit card thing - that wasn't our people. Usually when hockey fans travel they say that there were a few idiot fans for the home team, but overall the people were nice. I'd have to say the opposite was true this weekend. There were a few nice people we had the pleasure to meet (Diggler, Todd16, morley from this board), but overall the people in Grand Forks complete jerks that couldn't separate the hockey game from the rest of the evening. What happens on the ice, stays on the ice. We like to go out regardless and enjoy talking/drinking with the other team's fans. It was not enjoyable this weekend. (Obviously, the outcomes of the games had some impact on that as well.) I know there are good people in Grand Forks, just wish you guys could control the others. If a$$holes could fly, Grand Forks would be one, huge airport.

It's called trying not to study for finals. I am the best procrastinator on the Earth. I didn't do any studying tonight which means I don't have to do any until Sunday night now! Hooray! Grand Forks in 7 hours. Whoo hoo.

As already stated, French is spoken in Quebec. Junior says: "Viva la Bulldogs. The Sue will suffer, oui oui."
-
To echo Mr. Ben Kaasa's comments - please treat tUMD fans with the upmost respect this weekend. We are there to watch hockey - not to be verbally abused by you Neanderthal Sioux hockey fans. Please treat us visitors with class.
-
They didn't allow that in?!?! What can you expect from a place that tosses people for standing.

When Junior was born in Quebec in the days of King Parise, behold, magi from the east arrived in Duluth, saying, "Where is the newborn king of WCHA hockey? We saw his stats at its rising and have come to do him homage." When King Parise heard this, he was greatly troubled, and all Grand Forks with him. Assembling all the chief priests and the scribes of the people, he inquired of them where Junior was to be born. The said to him, "In Duluth, for thus it has been written through the prophet. Then Parise called the magi secretly and ascertained from them the time of The Star's appearance. He sent them to Duluth and said, "Go and search diligently for the WCHA scoring leader. When you have found him, bring me word, that I too may go and do him homage." After their audience with the king they set out. And behold, The Star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where gritty French Canadian was. They were overjoyed at seeing The Star, and on entering the DECC they saw Him with Scott his coach. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered Him gifts of money, pulltabs, and the Hobey Baker. And having been warned in a dream not to return to Parise, they departed for Grand Forks by another way. Junior 3:16

You forgot: You can't spell DUMB without UMD.

Thanks! I'll be at the Ralph at 10am Thursday then. Ready to start the weekend festivities at 10:30am. Too bad my friends up there will want to study for their finals.
-
What time do unused student tickets go on sale Thursday, and what are my chances of getting a few?
-
Does Mapletoft play for the Gopher women?
-
You are so correct. I won your mom's heart and she hasn't made me pay since!
-
Especially if DHG is singing it!
-
Question for redwing77: Now that Justin Mapletoft has been called up by the New York Islanders, are there any plans to retire his jersey at UND, or maybe a special mural at The Ralph?
-
DHG only chases maroon jerseys. Just kidding DHG (I know you'll read this) Can't wait to be at the Hyslop Saturday afternoon. There will probably be about 8 people there with the football game at 3. If the Penalty Box owns the Hyslop and no one is there to see/hear it, did it ever really happen?
-
....Or over Parise and see what happens.
-
That could be possible, but the amount of money the bar would make on us buying drinks for one night could keep them open for quite some time!
-
Along the same lines.... Is there a karaoke bar in Grand Forks? It doesn't even need to be that great of place - we have enough people where anywhere we go will be fun. We just like showing off our great vocal skills.
-
Who the heck is Boots the Monkey??? I don't think we'll have anyone sober enough to drive to Thompson. We'll stay at El Roco. Saturday night is Hawaiian night, no?
-
True, but Spongebob will be at the Ralph next weekend drinking Windsor in the bar. I'd like to see Dora do that!
