Cornell is a pretty decent team that doesn't really allow you to score. anyone who thinks the Sioux are going to roll this next weekend just because we are playing "Cornell" who may not be as "talented" as us will be sadly mistaken and probably even more upset. If we had troubles scoring this weekend multiply that by 10 next weekend and don't be surprised if our total goal total for the entire weekend is at 2 or below.

maybe the goal should have counted, maybe it shouldn't have. are the refs bad-probably yes. but we demand perfection out of the refs yet we don't always demand it out of our players and coaches-give the refs some kind of break. we should have won this game in OT if Watkins buries that shot he had in front of Stalock-but he didn't. there were numerous other chances we had to win this game but did not. offensively this team is not clicking and for that reason shouldn't have to count on being bailed out by a call with 90 seconds left. we had a five minute major pp with 10 minutes left and we blew that opportunity by taking what 2 penalites matro even before it started and lapoint during it. we had our opportunities but didn't cash in. until we start cashing in we can't leave the outcome of a game to be determined by a refs call or no call.

UMD can't be that bad, afterall they do have a better record than us. I wouldn't get all that gaga googoo over minny's start just yet gopherz. they are playing really well right now but they've only played 11 games and have a second half to the season coming up where they might be feeling "tired" after the WJC. I remember in 2002-2003 we got off to a torid start not unlike you guys right now and from the middle of January to the end of the season the wheels just fell completely off and we barely made the tournament and got bounced by ferris state. just enjoy their good play for however long it lasts whetthe rit's one more game or 3 more months.

a tie is not the worst thing in the world as it is better than a loss, does it suck we didn't-yeah. but we didn't lose and we did get a point. if the boys can go out and get a win tonight we the series and come home with 3 points onthe road against a pretty decent team and have a 3 game unbeaten streak. I was unable to see the game last night other than the overtime period, did we play well and just couldn't score again or did we come out flat again?

Despite Hak saying this team is really close I can't predict anything but a split until they stop doing their Jekyll and Hyde permances. A team ready to make that move wouldn't have come out and laid an egg on Friday against a D goaltender. My heart says sweep but my head says split. Dogs Fri, Sioux Sat.

the only thing that stuck out for me was the discussion about goalie coaches and Hak said that they will not go out and hire one just for the sake of hiring one. the coach would have to fit in chemistry wise and he mentioned that a lot of the goalies that have come through the past few years, jpar and jpl have had their own coaches or people they have gone through and that has worked out pretty well.

Agreed, Hak is a good coach. It can be very frustarting for us fans to be patient at times(myself most definately included) but I said two years ago after we were 5 games under .500 at the break and ended up int he frozen four that I would not question Hak as a coach and his abilities to coach.

FYI it's not the head coach's responsibility to be all the players best friend and be buddy-buddy with them or for that matter be well liked. Do you think Bill Parcells, Bill Belichik and Scotty Bowman are the players best friends and don't mess with their heads? I don't think so. You make it sound like your his next door neighbor.

bottom line is Sioux hockey games are more of a social event now more than ever compared to the old ralph.

most would agree we would rather have the antics in practice than on the ice flopping around like a dead fish.

I'm more concerned about our forwards not scoring yet more than I am about our Blueliners.

One positive - Eidsness is probably the most talented goalie we've had here since Belfour. If he can play consistently like he did Sat. he could keep us in a lot of games, even games we don't deserve to win.

I'm not that concerned with our defense not scoring a whole lot, right now In '97 we really din't have an offensive defenseman other than Curtis Murphy and in 2000 we really didn't have any. Our most successfull squad under Hak(the 2005) squad didn't have much offensive power either and they made it to the title game. let's keep in mind that Hak is trying to run a 4 forward power play on the first unit so really the only D-man that will probably get scoring chances right now is Genoway-who is our only offensive threat anyway on the blue line. We were really spoiled the last couple of years with chorney, Bina and Genoway on the Blue line racking up points. when Joe comes back he will add a physical presence not a a scoring presence. by years end Genoway will have roughly 30 points and if Miller stays on the Blue line he probably will be in the 20-30 point range as well. Our main concern on d right now is getting fundamentally strong to avoid defensive lapses that lead to the other team scoring. If we gan get our d back to the point of the last several years of allowing roughly 2 goals a game this squad could go far as one has to think the pucks will eventually start going into the net on the offensive end.
