  1. Kristo just wasn't in the lineup, lots of bodies in camp which means lots of scratches. If Kristo doesn't make the team out of camp, he'll more than likely be one of the last cuts. His last game impressed the Rangers' head coach: http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/node/141550
  2. If Vandy doesn't make the team in Philly, he won't get released. He signed an AHL contract so he'd start the year in Adirondak.
  3. He'll be playing for Langley (BCHL).
  4. The subject in my profile pic proudly displays the collar we bought for him at Casselton Vet Clinic back in May.
  5. I think Knight picked up a couple of points during the Young Stars tourney, but Calgary's head coach lit into him after yesterday's game (towards the end of the article): http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/hockey/calgary-flames/Feaster+blasts+Flames+prospects+lacklustre/8885656/story.html
  6. Under the Recruit Stats heading: http://atraditionofexcellence.blogspot.com/p/the-recruits.html
  7. The 2013/14 Stats page has each recruit listed with their current team and league.

  9. Talked to a prominent scout RE: Johnson. Size isn't a concern according to him, but strength is. Also talked to someone in Lincoln, said Johnson didn't play with the tenacity and drive he possesses on a consistent basis this past season. On the other hand, Johnson himself has admitted himself that he didn't play to his potential last season and that he aims on rectifying that this season. I'm sold on Johnson, he'll be just fine for UND, and he should play a prominent role on the team right out of the gates.
  10. Yeah, Charlie had a rough season last year. He broke his ankle in the spring of 2012 so he was slowed going into the season. Then he suffered a shoulder injury and once he came back from that, he injured his other shoulder. Too bad because that was a really important developmental year for him, and now this season is really crucial. Of interest, he was also a 2nd Round pick in the 2013 NAHL Draft, so I'm not sure if there's something to read between the lines there or not.
  11. Yeah, typically the U-18 Select team (Ivan Hlinka team) and U-17 Selects (Under-17 5 Nations team) are comprised of non-NTDP players. This helps get international experience to those players who either opt out of the NTDP (ie, Schmaltz) or perhaps didn't originally make the team when they tried out for the program (ie, Mantha), similar to the World Junior A Challenge team.
  12. Offensively, I think we'll be fine. What I'd like to see is some of that nasty intensity & swagger on the defensive side of the ball. That will make or break the season.
  13. Hey folks, I did an All-WCHA NHLer team last season during the lockout, and I think it'd be fun to do the same this season for the NCHC. Below are my candidates for the forwards, d-men, & goaltenders. Who am I missing? Forwards: Toews (UND) Parise (UND) Oshie (UND) Stastny (DU) Zajac (UND) Cullen (SCSU) Stafford (UND) Malone (SCSU) Bozak (DU) Raymond (UMD) Jones (MU) Schwartz (CC) Frattin (UND) Zucker (DU) Letestu (WMU) Shore (DU) Hendricks (SCSU) Defensemen: Boyle (MU) Carle (DU) Faulk (UMD) Niskanen (UMD) M. Greene (UND) Garrison (UMD) A. Greene (MU) DeKeyser (WM) Wiercioch (DU) Stuart (CC) Martinez (MU) Hillen (CC) Goaltenders (yikes!): Bachman (CC) Ellis (UNO) McElhinney (CC) Stalock (UMD)
  14. Toews is returning to Winnipeg with The Cup this week: http://www.chrisd.ca/2013/07/15/jonathan-toews-stanley-cup-winnipeg-chicago-blackhawks-celebration/
  15. Gropp would be a great addition to the list of UND commits. He is a highly-regarded player who didn't look a bit out of place playing as a just-turned-16 year old in the BCHL. IMO, he'd be an elite level commitment should he choose to attend North Dakota.
  16. I say Johnny Gaudreau is be a perfect candidate to play the role of Brendan Morrison...
  17. I think Pattyn oozes leadership, while Simpson would also make a fine captain. My guesses for the Captains in 2013-14? C - Pattyn A - Simpson A- Mark MacMillan
  18. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Tucker Poolman is a late-round selection.

    Shirvani

Shirvani... Not a bad name for a band. Shinedown meets Nirvana meets the Pistol Annies.
  20. I bought from Luther in Fargo and have had a great experience. They've always been very up front and honest with me regarding maintenance & repairs, and they've even bent the limits of my vehicle's warranty to help make a couple of repairs much more affordable for me. Have also bought from Corwin in Fargo, and will never do so again. A couple of times they did work that was not authorized.
  21. Can't believe a post-bar fight involving an NDSU linebacker has received 13 pages worth of posts on Sioux Sports. On to more important things... Hardin rules, Golladay's a monster, and Joe Mollberg is going to shatter a few records. Go Sioux!
  22. The full list: Craig Ludwig (Montreal 85-86, Dallas 98-99) Geoff Smith (Edmonton 89-90) Jay Caufield (Pittsburgh 90-91, 91-92) Troy Murray (Colorado 95-96) Ed Belfour (Dallas 98-99) Tony Hrkac (Dallas 98-99) Rick Wilson (Asst. Coach Dallas 98-99) Brad Bombardir (New Jersey 99-00) Mike Commodore (Carolina 05-06) Jonathan Toews (Chicago 09-10) Matt Greene (Los Angeles 11-12)
  23. Adam Tambellini was named the Top Forward at this year's RBC Cup: http://www.hockeycanada.ca/en-ca/news/2013-rbc-cup-award-winners-named
  24. I think Simpson will be our top d-man next year, but I would not be surprised one bit to see LaDue on the top pairing logging big minutes.
  25. Agreed, his makeup is something we won't fully become aware of until things play out over the next few years. The first thing that popped into my head regarding his committment was the quality of competition question, as the SJHL is widely regarded as beneath the BCHL/AJHL in terms of strength of play. But to dominate like he did during the past five years, including two years spent in a league with several future NHL 1st rounders, eases some of those concerns in my mind. All in all, I think we landed a goaltender who could very well become the starting goaltender by the time his UND career comes to an end.
