What I like most about the Collin Adams comittment is he is a finisher. His 25 goals lead the HPHL this season, while the number two goal scorer has just 14. That's also why I'm excited for Wilkie and Gersich to come in next season (third and fourth in the USHL in goal scoring). Adding more bonafide finishers upfront will go nicely with our swift, puck moving d-corps.

Yeah, I believe so. As I understand it the five year eligibility clock starts ticking the first day of freshman year. So unless he can get some kind of hardship waiver approved by the NCAA 2014 would be a lost year of eligibility.

So that would make him a JR in 2015.

Here's what NHL Central Scouting had to say about a couple of UND commits heading into tomorrow's CJHL Top Prospect's Game: Jackson Keane, MJHL Winnipeg Blues (Denver, Co.): A diminutive playmaking center with a high skill level and high compete game. He is a strong skater with good speed and quickness to always be around the puck and in the right place. Jackson is a heads-up player with the puck and has good vision and instincts when distributing puck; he finds a way to get the puck to the net. Jackson has the same work hard and work smart traits as his father, former NHL player and Stanley Cup champion Mike Keane. Rhett Gardner, AJHL Okotoks Oilers (Moose Jaw, Sask.): A smart and solid, size/strength center. A capable skater with a good head of steam to carry the puck and lead a rush, he's also very good on face-offs. He plays a composed and controlled game where he always gets the puck to the net and generates scoring chances. Rhett has good offensive instincts and a quick read/react to take advantage or capitalize on opportunities. He's headed to North Dakota where he should develop into a two-way center.

We sure did. Our sweep and St Lawrence beating Harvard and Western Michigan beating UMD bumped us from 6th to 4th.

Yeah I am, and yes I am going to try to get it going once again. It went pretty much dormant last year as I took a new (and much busier) position professionally while spending the majority of my personal free time training for a couple of marathons. I certainly miss doing the blog, but time has been the big obstacle.

I've thought about this too. Five regular forwards for sure will be gone after this season (seniors Gaarder, MacMillan, O'Donnell, Parks, Pattyn), with a sixth (Caggiula) that could potentially leave in order to sign a free agent deal. We currently have just six committed forward recruits who would even be eligible to come in this fall (Yon, Gersich, Wilkie, Gardner, Bowen, & Cakebread), and I would say only two or three of those commits (Gersich, Wilkie, maybe Gardner) are ready to play at the NCAA level. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Hopefully the potential to earn a lot of playing time helps to entice the likes of Boeser and Matthews.

Word on Twitter is that Muskegon's Jack Rowe has de-committed from UND.

Defenseman recruit Christian Wolanin (Muskegon Lumberjacks) will also take part.

Tkachuk is going CHL. Matthews is as well.

Kohl is a decent arena. It's obvious that it's not built specifically for hockey, but the atmosphere more than makes up for that. Madison in general and the UW campus/Wisconsin capital area make this trip a must IMO. Here are my recommendations for things to do during a Wisconsin roadie: The Capital Square and State Street area are full of great bars, eateries, shops, etc. My personal favorite is The Old Fashioned (very popular, can be hard to get into during the dinner rush). I'd also do State Street Brats for a pre-game meal. Farmer's Market held Saturday morning in Capital Square. The Saturday of the UND vs. Wisconsin series is the last weekend of the season that the Farmer's Market is held at the Capital. Lots of good produce, baked goods, crafty stuff, etc. Beer. Madison is one of America's great beer towns, home to a number of fantastic craft breweries. Among my favorites are Ale Asylum, Capital Brewery, and Great Dane. New Glarus is a small town that is about a 40 minute drive outside of Madison, a little slice of Switzerland plunked right down in the middle of Wisconsin. The downtown bakery produces all sorts of unique deliciousness, along with a couple of authentic Swiss restaurants available for lunch options. If you are into the beer thing, it's hard (if not impossible) to top New Glarus Brewing. The beers are world-class, and the brewery itself is gorgeous (free self-guided tours - they just kind of let you walk around). It's an absolute gem among breweries. Go have a beer on The Terrace, essentially the lake-fronting backporch of UW's student union. It's a cool experience.

I would guess that he gets into one of the Wisco games, perhaps in place of Mattson.

100% agree with you on John Peterson. Had the opportunity to see him play a pair of games at the Force tryout camp this past week. His transition game is lights out, always creating something offensively it seems. Another player I really liked at camp is Cole Gallant, a 98 from Florida who played last season with the Honeybaked U-16s in Michigan. Definitely worth keeping an eye on. He's a relatively high OHL pick, but he was one of only a handful of 98s that took part in Fargo's main tryout camp and he was very noticeable and always in the play. I thought Dixon Bowen had a great camp as well, was consistently one of the best forwards in camp during the three days I attended. I would like to see UND bring him into the fold.

Two "flavored" beers most definitely worth trying out are New Glarus Brewing's Serendipity (Apple, Cherry, Cranberry) ale and Raspberry Tart ale. For those not familiar with New Glarus Brewing, it's a fantastic brewery just outside of Madison that produces a number of outstanding beers (Moon Man pale ale is my favorite, many people enjoy Spotted Cow). The only problem with New Glarus is that they only allow for their products to be sold within the borders of Wisconsin, but if you make a quick hop over to Hudson or Superior you can usually find a nice variety of their products. For those who are planning on making the Madison road trip this November, a visit to the brewery (it is immaculate, and they allow self-guided tours) and the village of New Glarus is a must. The village is heavy on Swiss culture and is a very unique and fun place to visit. I highly recommend it.

I hope he does stay to get his degree. But it is not difficult to complete a degree during the summer months and/or via online coursework, so I'm guessing that won't be a major deciding factor?

Had a really good source tell me late last fall that Windsor wasn't really even on Nick's radar anymore and that he was very much looking forward to playing with Jordan at UND. I haven't heard anything since then, with no reason to expect anything to change. Family really wants to see him play at UND, and with Jordan returning, I'd be very, very surprised if Nick went CHL.
