In turn, I wonder how he feels about the University of Iowa 'pink' visitor dressing room...or Barry Alvarez stepping down at Wisconsin...or whether Michigan should be expanding The Big House...or any other issue that's none of his business!!! I do. There was obvious evidence of payments made to Maurice Clarett at Ohio State the past few years and nothing came of it but a national championship. The NCAA has bigger fish to fry than academics and underage drinking on campus...like nicknames.

The Providence Civic Center was the last of the 'small' venues that will ever host the NCAA Frozen Four. They hosted the 2000 Frozen Four which was won by North Dakota. Seating capacity for hockey is 11,484. .

The NCAA is blind if it thinks this type of thing doesn't happen everywhere. There won't be any penalty for Minnesota just like the U of Colorado got a free pass for their football transgressions recently. The president of the university ends of being forced out while Gary Barnett was allowed to stay on as head coach. The only thing that got him fired was the pasting Texas delivered in the Big XII title game last season. Unless Lucia starts losing some more games, I fully expect U of small m administration to turn a blind eye to minor transgressions.

Ugh...Kevin Bierman. Thanks for bringing that up. You also reminded me of Paul Demke, the kid who made about 20 three-pointers in the state title game against the Bantams from Belfield. What a crushing defeat that was for my school. After beating Glen Ullin in the Region VIII title game and then defeating Watford City in what might be the greatest high school game ever played in North Dakota (3OT thriller in the state semi-finals), the Newburgers couldn't miss on that Saturday night... If memory serves me right, Demke made something like one three-pointer all season long and ended up with something like 8 or 9 of them in the state title game.

Sorry, I've hated Newburg since the 1986 boys Class B basketball tournament.

I concur. Given the classless fans in San Jose and their booing of the Canadian national anthem, it's nice to see Edmonton's fans really showing their neighbors to the south their feelings. Way to go Canada and way to go Edmonton in particular!

Yea, I know, but you gotta prioritize these things. I make several road trips each year from Mpls (including St Cloud, Mankato, and sometimes UMD or Michigan Tech) and it's hard to get to GF too often. I'll keep thinking about it though...ya never know.

Peter Karmanos has always been a carpetbagger, Goon. It was only a year or two ago that he was threatening to move the team BACK to Hartford due to lagging attendance in Raleigh. I do agree with you, though, in that it is nice to see hockey catching on in other markets. I can't stomach the NBA anymore and the World Cup is just a snooze-fest. A friend of mine tuned in to watch a game the other day and is now wondering what took him so long to become a fan of hockey. To answer the question of this thread, though, I'm still going with the Hurricanes and Mike Commodore to win their first Stanley Cup. Did anyone else see Mike absolutely bury an Oilers forward late in the third period of last night's game?
