How do you display you are a Sioux fan?
MafiaMan replied to JESUS,family, rutgers's topic in Men's Hockey
When you're in the Twin Cities, the obvious thing to do is make sure you wear GREEN Sioux t-shirts as opposed to white ones. They stick out more. I think if I took a head-count of the items in my closet (no jokes, please), you'd probably find that easily 1/3 of my clothing says something in relation to North Dakota hockey. Vehicle-wise, the UND Fighting Sioux license plate frame is a must-have. I have mine on the BACK of my SUV since I'm typically passing Minnesota-born-and-road-schooled drivers in the right lane since they love the left lane here even when they're doing 10 mph's BELOW the posted speed limit. That way they can see the plate frame as I go by them. When it's game-day, it's always good to put the logo magnets on the side of the truck, too. Heck, even if it's NOT game-day against the Gophers, it's always fun to razz the locals anyways. Hey, that reminds me...better get my Maine jersey cleaned up and ready for the season opener at the X coming up in October. -
Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Or $9,000,000 Uzbekestanian ishtars?
-
I hadn't made that leap yet, Sioux-cia, I was more concerned with the UAF arena announcer saying this: And now...the starting line-up...for your...University of Alaska-Fairbanks Alaska Nanooks...
-
Apparently "Nanooks" wasn't enough of a nickname for UAF so they've changed it... UAF Announces Nickname Change I'd expect that their jerseys will be changing soon, too. Here is their 'new' logo.

Cue Homer Simpson with "ohhhhh...here we go...". mikejm, ASSISTANT Midwest Ottawa scout?

Long time listener, first time caller... Having grown up in SW North Dakota, I still have a fondness for the Williston and Dickinson area. I'm curious if these teams have improved since their inception in the early 1990's and what the long-term prospects for high school hockey in non-traditional North Dakota strongholds like the two cities mentioned along with Hazen-Beulah. Anyone have any insight?
-
Um...how about 'no'? On the flip-side, logo changes could be worse. Check the new logo of the Milwaukee Admirals out. Ugh...
-
If you didn't notice (and my money says you didn't), supposedly there is a "lightning bolt" on the top of the logo's head to represent the "thundering" in "thundering herd."
-
I think if we all chipped in a few bucks, we could rename at least one of the venues SiouxSports.com Arena!
-
Don't have that one, AZSIOUX, but I have a Ruskie jersey or two you might grow fond of.
-
Cue the 2005 Final Five third place game of Spirko's short-handed goal please.
-
Not only is Ruutu still unsigned, but I hear the Blackhawks are going to make sagard and PCM offers any day now, too!

Many states now refer to their "Highway Patrol" officers as "State Troopers" or as the "State Patrol". I play broomball with several troopers who explained to me the reasoning behind this. Apparently, many people felt the idea of "highway patrol" officers limited the extent of enforcement, namely anything off of a major highway, interstate, or freeway, whatever term you prefer, was off-limits to a patrol officer. This is obviously not the case, so to avoid confusion, some states have changed the name to encompass the state-wide jurisdiction, no matter what road you're travelling on.

My favorite pic is the one of the two Gopher clowns and their "worthless" sign. It's posted over on Gopher Puke Live, too. You can add comments to the picture and I put the following: Knowing those two bozos had to pay good money to sit there watching the Sioux win the Final Five? PRICELESS. Gopher Nerds Live I suppose you could also add, "well, that's ok, we'll just kick some Holy Cross a** next weekend!".
-
An extra $450 to put the years on? Good grief, where did you go to get that thing done, Golden Gopher Tattoo Shop?
-
buckysieve could maybe revive the old SNL skit "Da Bears." He could even replace Chris Farley. Cue superfan George Wendt! Hey, buckysieve, Gophers and Sioux dis weekend in Grand Forks. Who ya gonna take? Uhhh...Gophers sixty-tree to nuttin'. Changin' gears here, for a minute, da Indy Five Hunnerd is dis weekend. Buckysieve, who ya got? Uhh...I gotta go wit Danica Patrick. Hokay den, how about 'dis....Coach Lucia's in da race. Now who ya gonna take? I dunno...what's Donny drivin'? Hmnnnn...da yellow Gopher bus! Aaaahhh...Coach Lucia!
-
It did because there is little doubt that the Gophers totally dominated both of those opponents.
-
Since I was there, I'm going by memory, but it seemed as though it was a pretty good hockey game. Then again, I don't wear maroon goggles when I'm watching. I should know by now that the Gophers pretty much dominate anybody when they take the ice and that it's only by an act of God that they don't go 35-0 every year.
-
Yep, if it weren't for McKee, Cornell would have no doubt been run over by at least 30 goals.
-
That means that after weathering the first period storm, the SOG for the rest of the game were 11-11. Yea, total domination. In fact, I've never seen such domination. Had anyone else been in goal, it would have no doubt been 20-0 Gophers. Frankly, I don't understand why they even played the 2005 Frozen Four because Denver, CC, and North Dakota should have been shaking in their skates at the Gophers total domination of their regional opponents.
-
Puhlease! I'd expect that the Gophers would outshoot most anyone in their own building, buckysieve. Maine gave Minnesota a spirited game and even Cornell had its chances against your beloved 'U'. The Gophers had about 15 power plays to Maine's 2-3 that game. The officiating was atrocious and it STILL took an OT goal for Goldy to pull that game out. I concur...if either of those games are anywhere other than Mariucci, I seriously would have liked the upset special.
-
I guess they "dominated" Maine and Cornell about as well as you can dominate a 1-0 OT win and a 2-1 OT win, respectively.
-
Sheesh...are we still discussing hockey or a visit to The Platinum Fox?
-
Long live King PCM! There is NO question in my mind that the 2005 season turned around on the Spirko short-handed goal against the Gophers in that game.
