  1. Probably not, FIRE HELMET GUY. Thanks to Gopher superfan Kim Jong Il's threat to detonate a nuclear weapon unless the Gophers get the 7:00 pm semi-final game no matter what, WCHA commissioner Bruce McLeod has backed off of a promise to give that Friday night time-slot to the #1 seed, no matter who it is.
  2. Would having my little Sioux fan there help sway you, Runninwiththedogs?
  3. I turned on ESPN this morning before getting ready for work and watched "Barry's Best" of the NHL last night. Good stuff! Attached is a link...click just below "Pens' Station" on "Watch Barry's Best: Goals Galore" and see what happens about 3/4 of the way thru the video clips when the subject becomes "best hits." Keep your head up, Phil! Barry's Best of 10-12-06
  4. Wow, that North Dakota helmet was a mess in 1985!
  5. No need to elaborate here...NorthDakotaHockey? Runninwiththedogs? dagies? Bueller? Bueller? Anyone?
  6. A late announcement today caught on the back pages due to Cory Lidle's death and the Tigers/A's game tonite...Greg Johnson retires from the Red Wings due to a heart abnormality. Anyone who saw #9 play for the Sioux in the late 1980's/early 1990's will remember Greg's talent and skill with fondness. Had he played with a better supporting cast, Greg would be remembered as one of the NCAA's all-time greats instead of a great player on a mediocre team. I was sad to see him get traded from the Red Wings to the Penguins not too long before Detroit finally got over the Stanley Cup hump in 1997. It's a shame Johnson wasn't a part of that team. Best of luck to you, #9, in your future endeavors. Greg Johnson Hangs 'Em Up
  7. Since they're such good luck, how about "The Blarney Stones"? That way, it's doubly hilarious when they play our beloved nemesis, Minnesota.
  8. Considering one of the goals was a perfect deflection from a slap shot off a Sioux defenseman stick into the top corner of the net...hmnnn...hard to say Jordan Parise "choked." Cmon, that's a bit harsh. Anyone going to Joe Senser's this weekend to watch the games?
  9. I haven't the slightest idea what you're talkin' about, dagies. Interesting thread topic trying to pick a name for the afore-mentioned line, but I'm not impressed with anything I've seen thus far (no offense, everyone). I always liked the Red Wings and "The Production Line" for its obvious reference to the Detroit auto industry and the 1970's Flyers and their "Broad Street Bullies", but the last nickname I thought was pretty catchy was (again) Philadelphia's "Legion of Doom." Ottawa's "Pizza Line" just didn't cut it. If someone comes up with something that sticks, I'll be most impressed.
  10. I don't hate Brett, DaveK, I just don't understand how many free passes one player is entitled to? John Madden and Tony Korneiser fawn all over him. Cmon, Brett himself can't be serious when he says this is the most talented Packer team he's ever been with! Dan Marino went out with a 4 or 5 interception game against Jacksonville in the playoffs and I think 3 of them were run back for TD's. They all can't go out like John Elway. Is Brett Favre a winner? For sure. Is he a Hall of Famer? You bet. Is he destined to win exactly as many Super Bowls as Mark Rypien and Trent Dilfer did? Even though he'd like to dream of that answer being 'no,' it unfortunately is 'yes.' And there's nothing wrong with that...it's one more than Dan Marino, Dan Fouts, Warren Moon, and Randall Cunningham have combined. It's just a shame watching him "Joe Namath" out the end of his career with the Rams. Brett could have learned a thing or two from watching Steve Yzerman.
  11. 22-44, 0 TD passes, and 2 INTS against the Eagles, the second of which was priceless. Seconds after Tony Kornheiser starts spouting off about how "exciting" Brett Favre is, ol' #4 chucks one over the middle into a see of Eagle green where it was promptly picked off. The Eagles D isn't exactly the Lions out there.
  12. For what it's worth, after watching Seattle put up 35 on the Giants yesterday in the first half, I think one of the bigger questions three games into the season is "how did Detroit hold Seattle to 9 for the game?" three weeks ago? As for Vikings fans gnashing their teeth over yesterday's loss? Let's be serious, folks. The Vikings had a game HANDED to them by the Panthers, then promptly lost a game they should have won. They're right where they should be at 2-1. By the way, those uniforms are STILL hideous and I don't care what anyone says. It was awesome seeing the old-school Bears uniforms up against those XFL duds worn by the Vikings.
  13. Ah, I'm still sad ta say dat da Bears didn't cover da spread and I lost a few bucks. I had da Bears winnin' two-hunnerd-and-tirty-eight ta tree. Daaaaa Bearssss!
  14. I'd admittedly been hoping for a Gopher whoopin' on the Bison to shut up the green-and-yellow clad NDSU fans, but given the amount of smack-talk I've heard recently from co-workers, friends, and Gopher fans that I know who apparently don't know that UND and NDSU are not one and the same, I've changed my tune. Good luck to the Bison against the Gophers. I hope you not only upset U of small m, I hope you embarrass them in their own dome.
  15. I'm looking to sell my two tickets in section 314 for this series. Cost is $35 per night or $70 for the two-game series. Drop me a PM or leave a note if interested.
  16. I have two tickets in section 314 that I'm suddenly looking to unload.
  17. Cmon, DaveK, the Pack played the LIONS yesterday for crying out loud. Dan Pastorini could have suited up for Green Bay and thrown a TD pass against those clowns.
  18. Anything that helps the exposure of D-1 hockey is a good deal.
  19. Sorry, DaveK, but some of these statements are laughable. Favre's still one of the best QBs in the league? I can think of 10 QBs in the league at this point that I would take on my team over the Brett Favre of today. And you're kidding yourself if you think his supporting cast made him look bad by helping him toss 29 interceptions last year or the duck in the NFC playoff game a few years ago against the Eagles. People love to blame that game on the 4th down and 99 (27 or 30something I believe it was actually) to go for the first down that was converted, but the Packers were driving in OT when Favre threw an absolute quacker that was picked off. How about the game where he throws a TD although he's about five yards across the line of scrimmage, a play that resulted in the Pack settling for 3 instead of 7 when Favre needed about two steps to rush for the TD himself. I can still hear John Madden "Look at that Brett Favre...wow is he having fun!". Um, no, John, he just KILLED his team with that stupid mistake. Trust me on this...this is Brett's last year and he will never break Marino's TD record.
