  1. Seriously, if I had a nickel for everytime I heard someone say "The Johnny Holmes Band," I'd be a rich man!
  2. With all due respect, HockeyMom, one of the few reasons to like Kid Rock...is standing next to him in the picture below!
  3. I didn't say they won the state title every year since dropping to B, but they've been to the state tournament every year in pretty much everything. One article in the Dickinson Press online before last year's boys basketball tournament actually mentioned something to the effect of the great sports dynasties of all-time...the NY Yankees, the Boston Celtics, the SF 49'ers...and the Dickinson Trinity boys basketball team. Made me want to puke.
  4. Def Leppard? As opposed to current music like Eminem, P Diddy, or any other gansta-fabulous greats? Give me the 1980's any day over that crap!
  5. 7-12 at Trinity has a total enrollment of 252 (check out their web site yourself). I believe Belfield 7-12 is approximately 100. I should have changed my subject...my comments about Belfield and Killdeer referred to sports like boys and girls basketball and girls volleyball. New England had a co-op before with Regent. Regent wasn't happy with the New England domination of it and so Regent chose to leave and co-op with Mott. I don't exactly feel sorry for New England in that sense. My point is, since dropping to Class B, Trinity has pretty much dominated every sport, including girls volleyball, girls basketball, boys basketball, and football. Most Class B schools prior to that were happy making the state boys basketball tournament once in their lifetime. Now, it's like a birthright for Trinity.
  6. Join the club, dagies. I think it was 1999 when I saw the Sioux play live something like 9 or 10 times...and they lost every single game!
  7. Sorry, didn't mean to double-post the error. The real point is losing two games in a row at home in October doesn't spell doom for March.
  8. The 03-04 Maine team lost to Denver in the national championship game. You're talking about the 04-05 team that lost to Minnesota in the first round of the NCAA tournament at Mariucci. I should know...I was there wearing my Sioux jersey and Maine hat and was soundly boo'd by a pro-Gopher crowd when I was put on the big-screen.
  9. This was just one of several comments on the Friday night game thread. Not ripping on you, Goon, just pointing out differences of opinion when it comes to officiating. dagies, go back and take a look at that thread and you'll see lots of commentary like "Maine penalty...I suppose they'll take Kozek too just to even it up" and similar remarks by posters. UND took many undisciplined penalties on Friday night but the bigger reason for the second period disaster was the lack of defense and the worst passing I've seen in recent memory. About 3:00 into Saturday night's game, my thought was "simply a continuation of last night." Maine showed me nothing related to being "dirty." By contrast, I left very impressed with their team. On the flip-side, nothing says "thug squad" like running a guy into the boards during a 6-2 thumping in your own building with 2:00 or so left on the clock. With all due respect to VanDeVelde, keep your emotions in check.
  10. The Sioux give up 5 second period goals in one of the ugliest 20:00 of hockey I've ever seen...and the refs were at fault?
  11. Or maybe the cheap shot VanDeVelde delivered near the end of a 6-2 beatdown? Just finish the game, lick your wounds, and get set for tomorrow night.
  12. Sweatpants reading "sometimes you get to eat the dog...but sometimes, the dog get to eat you." Sweatshirt reading "no one can beat us when we play like we play when we play."
  13. Been there many times and seen many other venues. I've seen Yost Arena at volume level 11 when playing Ferris State, Munn Ice Arena quite loud for UMass, and Mariucci seems to always have a pretty loud crowd. I'm just surprised that a quality opponent like Maine seemed to net crickets chirping as opposed to fans.
  14. Who are you kidding, 01grad? My money is on you hitting Mettler's before AND after the game.
  15. Are Wisconsin and Minnesota the only teams that fans get jacked up over?
  16. I expected more out of the fans given the high rankings of the Sioux and the Black Bears. Most of the arena was a morgue well before the back-to-back smackdowns began.
  17. The Black Bears are who we thought they were...and that's why we took the damn field! Denny...huh?
  18. Hmnnnnnnn...maybe it was Sherry Kelsh and not Clerk.
  19. I'll take you up on two of those, NDSU grad. Killdeer - Shannon Sivak, Sheldon Sivak, Brant Yantzer, Jan Hovden. Mott - Sherry Clark (not sure on the last name - graduated in 1988). I just remember her showing up to English 101 class proudly wearing her "89" letterman jacket, compliments of her boyfriend. About two weeks after classes started, the afore-mentioned letterman jacket was suddenly back in Mott with her now ex-boyfriend.
  20. The Man Show Boy...Spike TV Classic! Girl Scout Cookies for Sale
  21. Get on the bag PCM! Get on the Bag!
  22. One of the classic moments from the Maine/North Dakota rivalry...
  23. This from the guy who thinks Green Bay is one of the original eight wonders of the world? Just kiddin', DaveK. You know I'm teasin'.
