I think they're more like 14". The same picture shows the team wearing white jerseys with what appear to be 12" numbers. I also noted that it looks like the S tomahawks are not on the shoulders but down lower around the area where the number on the sleeve would be. Did you see that as well?

I took a look at my 75 Years of Sioux Hockey soft cover book and there is a 1960's photo in there that appears to have Sioux jerseys with 14" numbers on the back.

Yes, I'm a slave to mites hockey and my boy has practice from 5-6 pm at BIG. I could be pursuaded to come to Senser's that, though!

That helps a lot! Any idea of the number font/size? I saw one picture of the home jerseys from that era and it certainly appeared that the numbers on the back were MUCH larger than the numbers used on today's jerseys.

I need an early-season fix.

If anyone can help me find a picture of the green 1969 style and how the numbers looked on the sleeves and back of the jersey (and possibly even the front shoulder area), I would be most thankful! I purchased one of AZSIOUX's replicas and would like to have numbers sewn on. I'm 99.9% positive names were not on the back of the jerseys in that era so that will save me a few bucks. Side-note: Thanks to AZSIOUX for the work on the replicas. Very, very nice!

You need to go to a game in Houghton sometime if you truly believe what you wrote above. Michigan Tech's program has been on the road back to respectability the past few years and things are looking up. The Huskies were a national contender throughout the 1970's before seeping thru the cracks in the 1980s. To even suggest that Bemidji State offers a lot more than MTU is rather silly. Of course, that's just my opinion...

I haven't heard anything about the switch BACK to white jerseys for the home team, but I should have been more clear about the Stars' jersey. The Stars black jersey will be the one with the numbers centered on the front. If that's now the "away" jersey, it's news to me. The white jersey will have the numbers on front as well, a la last year's Buffalo Sabres. You can see pics below which will give you a better idea... Dallas Stars' Jersey Progression

The Dallas home jerseys will also have the player number centered on the chest. Just an FYI... The Ducks' home and away jerseys look silly with the ridiculously small "Ducks" font on the front along with the even tinier "Anaheim" above it. The web foot D would be a far better choice on the front. I agree on the Capitals jersey. I'm not real fond of the updated 1980's logo, but it's about time the color switch went BACK to red, white, and blue.

Might I suggest making sure that local radio stations are contacted? DJ's can mention starting on Monday's drive to work or during the day after commercials for the games that it's the Green-With-Envy weekend. Perhaps even Pat Sweeney and other TV stations could drop the bit during the sports that week. 200 people on facebook isn't going to cut it.

If I wasn't in Minneapolis myself, I'd be happy to assist! There will ALWAYS be visiting fans who muck up the color scheme. Personally, I think it's even more intimidating when you see the flood of green with a spackling of maroon and gold around. Heck, it'd be like Mariucci Arene when the Sioux are in town!
