  1. Sort of off-topic, Buckysieve, I can only assume that your signature line "Lucia 2 NCAA titles > Hakstol 0 NCAA titles" line means that you're back on board with all things happy-go-lucky at Minnesota as opposed to wanting him canned after the performance of the past three years. Minnesota and Wisconsin certainly did have a choice. And that choice was Penn State over UMD, St Cloud, North Dakota, etc... Administration's decision aside, I didn't talk to a single Minnesota fan at the WCHA Final Five who is in favor of Minnesota moving to the Big 10. I know that that number isn't an exact science, but I think true hockey fans understand what rivalry means. I will give Gopher hockey fans credit for that.
  2. I probably shouldn't have implied that the NCAA directly makes money off of the BCS system inasmuch as I was suggesting that the whole "system" makes money on BCS football games. Had Ohio State and Auburn lost out on millions, heads would roll at NCAA headquarters. Instead, the NCAA pulled the old "we aren't affiliated with the BCS so we can't do anything" card.
  3. I'll concur with that. North Dakota would have done just as well to stay in the WCHA and invite Miami and Western Michigan along with LSSU, Northern Michigan, and the several other schools left in the CCHA.
  4. I love it when Gopher fans consider the Michigan win over North Dakota last year on par with such upsets as MSU over BC...it's hardly that caliber or even Harvard over Minnesota circa 1989. Michigan over UND last year is NOWHERE NEAR the upset that Michigan State was over Boston College several years ago.
  5. I beg to differ and hardly consider Ohio State and Auburn as "campus issues." Flashback to the Buckeye/Tiger championship game. There is NO EXCUSE for the NCAA washing its hands of Ohio State's player eligibility issues which erupted BEFORE that bowl game. None. And if you think Cam Newton is innocent in the "build-my-preacher-dad-a-church-and-I'll-attend-your-school" fiasco, then I don't know what to tell you. The NCAA did what it had to do in order to ensure that money would be made on a football game. Take away five Ohio State football players and Auburn's star quarterback and you get a sub-par title game, bad TV ratings and revenue being lost. The NCAA simply couldn't allow that to happen. And it didn't. Instead, the NCAA turns a blind eye and suspends the five OSU players for the start of the following season. Then the bottom drops out on Coach Sweater-Vest. Cam Newton bolts for the NFL after winning an NCAA championship trophy for Auburn. Win win for everyone though because the NCAA made money hand-over-fist on the championship game. Five years from now, Cam Newton will be a star in the NFL and he'll return his Heisman Trophy just like Reggie Bush. OSU's already dealing with sanctions and in a few years, Auburn will wind up being the USC of the east. Since the NCAA likes to sanction schools for nicknames, perhaps a "naughty list" of schools that seem to have an epidemic of "strictly campus matters" is something the NCAA should be discussing. Just a thought.
  6. Had a Gopher fan ask me the other day if I was "supporting the WCHA" by cheering for the Gophers. Almost had to laugh at the idea of supporting the conference, the same conference that Minnesota has helped to destroy as we currently know it. No thanks, Mr. Arnold, I want to see a Boston College smackdown next weekend.
  7. Ohio State...Auburn...USC...North Carolina...Miami...Northern Colorado...Montana State...Montana... NCAA: We'll get to that later, just make sure the Sioux hockey team doesn't wear any logos come tournament time.
  8. I was there in Milwaukee watching that '97 team...yes, they wore green breezers and helmets.
  9. Tony Hrkac seemed to like 'em.
  10. You're joking, right? Show me maize and blue and you instantly recognize Michigan. Anywhere.
  11. I've got a tweet for Brock: Isles tell first-rounder Brock Nelson to stay in school and play in front of 10,000 fans at every home game or sign a contract and play in the Nassau Coliseum, which appears to have its issues lately... http://www.islanderspointblank.com/2012/03/osha-new-york-state-investigating-coliseum-for-asbestos/
  12. I'm a bit surprised at Zucker's jumping so soon. I think Denver's line-up might actually be better than Minnesota's next season. The Wild, that is, not the Gophers.

    Jerseys

I'm certain they'll never wear the logo again. Shelled out $250 each for a green and white authentic back in the summer of 2010 and just hammered out a trade with YaneA for a black authentic. Collection complete.
  14. It's just a few months away, I'm sure... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0Y7yjxJVlc
  15. And Notre Dame is home watching the whole tournament...a team predicted to win the national championship. Pre-season polls are worthless.

Yea, we all know players couldn't care less as to the uniform they're wearing, right? http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2011-09-23/ohio-university-football-players-flip-out-over-new-uniforms
  17. Nice to see you, Siouxmama...how did your quilting convention go this weekend?
  18. Now I've heard it all if Minnesota fans are complaining that Scott Hennen's goal-scoring announcements affected the Gopher hockey team. What's next, the U of Minnesota asking if the last-ever WCHA Final Five can be hosted at Mariucci Arena so as to not give an unfair advantage to their opponents? BTW, it didn't take long for Gopher etiquette to show. Minutes after the game, a disappointed fan plows through a picture-taking moment and yells "LET'S GO DENVER" to a friend and me. I quickly replied "so-ore loo-oooser" back which was immediately met with some chest-thumping and a "wanna take this outside, Sioux fan?". No thanks, but I appreciate you barging in on a picture moment with a 12 year old Sioux fan.
  19. "Hey, is that John Candy over there three rows up from the penalty box?"
  20. Thank you to everyone who came out to yesterday's Hoggsbreath brunch. I believe I counted 30 people in attendance. For those of you who received a "black ice" Hoggsbreath long-sleeve t-shirt, enjoy, and thank you for coming out. For those of you who would like a "home" version of the Hoggsbreath long-sleeve t-shirt (white shirt w/green logo on front), PM me or text me at 612-386-8207 with your size request and I'll put together a list. I can get the shirts for cost so they're relatively cheap ($10-$12 per shirt) and they're good advertising for the softball team sponsor too. Thanks especially to NorthDakotaHockey, CMSioux, Ice Arena Man, YaneA, and Siouxman...always a pleasure to run into you every March.
  21. Your post was from yesterday at 11:43 am...we were at the Hoggs until 1:00 pm. You couldn't have possibly missed our group. Unless you were at Brady's Bar next door by accident.
  22. Rise 'n shine brunch folks. See you at 11am...and bring some of your favorite Sioux hockey stories with you! P.S. Rumor has it there may be door prizes.
  23. Wrong X 100 if you're specifically talking about the MOA. I live in Bloomington and have been to the MOA hundreds of times. The College Shop and Field of Dreams ALWAYS prominently display Sioux items in their window displays and have for years.
  24. I'm in 102 row 9. I'm predicting a throwback Sioux jersey for tonight.
