Michigan has had those for YEARS though. Mark Osiecki changed OSU's before the start of his second season in Columbus. It's all about name recognition and branding. http://www.examiner.com/article/newness-to-buckeyes-men-s-hockey

Notre Dame followed Michigan's lead in hockey a few years back...why all the fuss over OSU? EDIT: I just looked up Penn State...they have the football hockey helmet too.
-
The OSU helmets are designed to mimic the football helmets...from the side, they actually look pretty cool.

A suspension? He should be given a medal.

That was indeed my point. If BU is a 'bad loss' for Merrimack, it's also a 'bad loss' for North Dakota.
-
UND lost at home to BU...a 'bad loss'?
-
Merrimack takes over first place in Hockey East.

Plenty of good seats still available for the Gopher/Sioux game last year...the SCSU vs WIsconsin regional a couple of years earlier brought in less than half of that!

EDIT: BC 1-0, CC scored 4 in a row to make it 4-1, then when BC scored a goal to make it 4-2, CC reeled off another 3 to go ahead 7-2. Their biggest lead of the game was 5 goals.
-
If memory serves me right, CC was up 6-0 at one point in that game.

Actually, I didn't. Minnesota had 31 league points and AA had 26. The records were similar - I didn't say Alaska was the better team, I simply stated that record-wise, they were close. How many first-round series' has UND played over the years against Mankato, Michigan Tech, and others that wound up going three games because the Sioux managed to lose one at home? I also pointed out that several folks here in the local media in 2011 were actually PREDICTING a Seawolves upset over the Gophers. There was just something missing in Minnesota's mo-jo that year.
-
AA: 12-14-2 in the WCHA 16-18-3 overall MN: 13-10-5 in the WCHA 16-14-6 overall I recall that season and lots of local media were predicting Seawolves in the upset.
-
I don't recall a #6 seed winning the entire tournament multiple times. Until a couple of years ago, that would have meant a team playing on the ROAD in the first round of the WCHA playoffs went on to win the whole thing. Anyone else want to chime in on this one? UMD was a 5 when they won it a few years ago and that's the lowest seed I remember...

Unless The Platinum Fox has expanded to Omaha, you are sadly mistaken. The Class of Columbus '05 RULES!

I saw the article yesterday on the Atlanta Braves BP hat...their Indian-head logo is terrible anyways so it's not a shame that it's going by the wayside, but further proof that a small minority can sway opinion in a big way.

...$$$$$$$$$$$$$

That was 2011 and AA was an 8 and Minnesota was a 5. Hardly a monumental upset as Minnesota was mediocre at best that season. You suggested a wave of 11 and 12 teams at the Final Five in the past five years which is absolutely not true. I am not saying that 11's and 12's have no shot at all but your statement was dead wrong. You go ahead and measure your own duck...I'll pass.

If You Could Own UND's Hockey Team or the Lincoln Stars?
MafiaMan replied to watchmaker49's topic in Men's Hockey
Hmnnn...which one would be coached by Coach Dikka? -
Phil Housley would have had the team defense giving up 0 goals in the past 5 games.
-
It's not like the Wild had a whole training camp together to adjust to new teammates. You're not alone, though...local news media hit the panic button immediately after the team's first loss this season!
-
C'mon, Harvard and Northeastern...you would think once in a while they would stumble upon a Beanpot!
-
BC 4 Northeastern 1 after two periods. No surprise so far.
-
Let's try this again. Your original post specifically referenced the bottom-two seeds vs the top two and brought up the last five years. I simply pointed out that no bottom-two seed has advanced to the Final Five during the time you brought up. I'm aware of the success of lower seeds as I attend the tournament every year. An 11 or 12 seed has meant 'season's over' for the past five years.

Blow-out city: BC wins 6-0.
