  1. Unless The Platinum Fox has expanded to Omaha, you are sadly mistaken. The Class of Columbus '05 RULES!
  2. I saw the article yesterday on the Atlanta Braves BP hat...their Indian-head logo is terrible anyways so it's not a shame that it's going by the wayside, but further proof that a small minority can sway opinion in a big way.
  3. That was 2011 and AA was an 8 and Minnesota was a 5. Hardly a monumental upset as Minnesota was mediocre at best that season. You suggested a wave of 11 and 12 teams at the Final Five in the past five years which is absolutely not true. I am not saying that 11's and 12's have no shot at all but your statement was dead wrong. You go ahead and measure your own duck...I'll pass.
  4. Phil Housley would have had the team defense giving up 0 goals in the past 5 games.
  5. It's not like the Wild had a whole training camp together to adjust to new teammates. You're not alone, though...local news media hit the panic button immediately after the team's first loss this season!
  6. C'mon, Harvard and Northeastern...you would think once in a while they would stumble upon a Beanpot!
  7. BC 4 Northeastern 1 after two periods. No surprise so far.
  8. Let's try this again. Your original post specifically referenced the bottom-two seeds vs the top two and brought up the last five years. I simply pointed out that no bottom-two seed has advanced to the Final Five during the time you brought up. I'm aware of the success of lower seeds as I attend the tournament every year. An 11 or 12 seed has meant 'season's over' for the past five years.
  9. All done despite the shoddy coaching of Dave Hakstol for sure!
  10. There hasn't been an 11 or 12 seed to advance to the Final Five in the past five seasons. In fact, only one 1 or 2 seed has even lost a game in the opening round (2008 North Dakota in the Saturday game 3-2 in 2OT against Michigan Tech). 2006 was the last time a bottom-two seed defeated a top-two seed - #9 UMD defeated #2 Denver. EDIT: 2008, 2009, and 2010 would have been 9 and 10 vs 1 and 2, respectively. 11's and 12's came into play in 2011.
  11. Typical banter from someone who probably lives a mile from the old Diamond's Sports Bar in Ramsey...
  12. Michigan and Maine both spiraling out of control...any hope for a Northeastern upset over BC in the Beanpot finale? Mankato with a big sweep at Duluth.
  13. Wait a second, are we sure this bar manager actually existed?
  14. Groan...I thought you meant the Seattle Sonics were officially on their way home...
  15. Nevermind the locker room, how about if you are so injured that you writhe around the ice in agony for 45 seconds after a hit that results in a penalty, you aren't allowed to immediately hop back on the ice for the ensuing power play?
  16. Those kinds of losses are absolute killers...
  17. I happen to like the idea of cities having a sort of 'identity' with colors. Pittsburgh comes to mind, although Mario mucked it up by changing the Penguins' scheme to Vegas gold.
  18. The hit is also pictured on pages 80 and 81 of the 'Fight on Sioux' publication. I saw DeFauw line up the BU player from my seat in the Bradley Center and jumped out of it. He absolutely smoked the guy.
  19. I couldn't have said it better myself. Two favorite Sioux moments: Peter Armbrust putting in the rebound OT winner in the '97 Final Five and Brad DeFauw absolutely blowing up a Boston U player with a check in the national championship game a few weeks later in Milwaukee. THE BEST TEAM WON!
  20. Bettman was hired to facilitate the southern expansion. Yes, the owners already had visions of expansion fees dancing thru their heads when he arrived. I was specifically referring to the Quebec, Hartford, Winnipeg, and Minnesota franchises all heading southward. It is absolutely inexcusable in my eyes to let Winnipeg and Minnesota lose franchises...and then put teams back in those cities again. They should have never been allowed to leave in the first place. Nashville doing just fine? Their former owner now owns the Wild and in 2007, a group tried to buy the team and move it to Hamilton Ontario, something promptly thwarted by Bettman himself. Norm Green sold the Stars 15 minutes after the team touched down in Dallas (figuratively, not literally). If the sole intent of moving the team was to immediately sell it (and it was, along with escaping that nasty little sexual harassment suit in Minnesota), Bettman should have 86'd the move from the get-go. Hell, Bettman fought harder to keep the Thrashers in Atlanta than he did to keep the North Stars in Minnesota! Florida, Tampa Bay, and Phoenix could all either be disbanded or moved immediately and the league would be better off for it. Bettman could redeem himself by forcing the sale of the New York Islanders instead of what appears to be their eventual move as well.
