  1. Play like your fake internet girlfriend died today!
  2. Hey Wilbur, I would take that regional in a SACRED HEART beat!
  3. I have heard a few suggestions about finding a 'new' home for the Hoggsbreath brunch next year. Just because UND is moving to a new tournament location 7 minutes further away than Little Canada is to St Paul doesn't mean we need to change every tradition we have. 2013 may be the end of the WCHA as we know it, but it will NOT be the end of the annual Hoggsbreath brunch. LeftyZL, I admire you for introducing your 20 month old to our bunch. Daddy daycare during hockey is a big job LOL. I don't know if we'll hit 50 people attending like we did on Friday, but we'll be at the Hogger again next year sharing some laughs and good times. Don't be disappointed that this is the first Hogg brunch you made...be glad that you decided to come this time and book it next year as a 'must-be-there' event. The 2014 Hoggsbreath brunch 'Sacred Heart moment' is out there somewhere...
  4. Yes indeed. Teams are Minnesota State, Bemidji State, Michigan Tech, Alaska-Anchorage, Ferris State, Northern Michigan, Bowling Green, Alaska, Lake Superior State, and Alabama-Huntsville. The Final Five is no more. The 9th and 10th place WCHA teams will not make the playoffs. The top eight seeds qualify for the new tournament, which will now be a two-day event, not three.
  5. If you CAN'T make mass, text me at 12:15 pm as I'm driving by the Lutheran church on the way home from Catholic mass and I'll run inside and put ANOTHER $5 spot in their collection basket with a sticky note attached to it reading 'GO IRISH' and your name on it. Gotta make sure all bases are covered, right?
  6. I forgot that...what a joke.
  7. If you CAN'T make mass, text me at 10:55 am as I'm walking into church and I'll make sure I drop a $5 spot in the collection basket with a sticky note attached to it reading 'GO IRISH' and your name on it.
  8. Funniest part of this year's Hoggsbreath event!
  9. I still remember Kellen Briggs giving up 4 goals in the 2004 semi-finals and another 4 in the championship and getting BOOO'd mercilessly when he was handed the all-tournament goalie award. Alaska-Anchorage's goalie stood on his head against CC, North Dakota, and Duluth...everybody in that building knew that the goalie from the FOURTH PLACE team in the tournament was the story of the weekend.
  10. 2014 Hoggsbreath brunch sign outside the bar: WELCOME SACRED HEART HOCKEY FANS
  11. 17,000 fans, wearing mostly maroon and gold or green and white, cheering rabidly for teams not their own. The greatest college hockey conference ever known now turns the page to an uncertain future. The WCHA as we know it is no more. To fans of Minnesota State, Bemidji State, Alaska-Anchorage, and Michigan Tech, thank you for the memories. MSU...I always enjoyed the 70 mile road trip and 'ole ole ole'...AA...I remember the standing ovation that greeted you at the 2004 Final Five, your first FF ever, and your opening game upset of CC...Michigan Tech...another great road trip to copper country...and Bemidji State...your incredible run to the Frozen Four a few years ago and the excitement you brought to the WCHA after that. It's an absolute travesty that everyone else is leaving you behind. To the fans in section 102, rows 8, 10, 11, and 12, who sat around us in row 9 for the past 12 years, all the best. I had a lady Gopher fan hug me tonight and tell me that she will miss seeing my group every March at the Final Five. I swear...she had tears in her eyes. I made friends with fans from SCSU, UMD, CC, and even Minnesota during my time here. Hell, I even watched a four year old Gopher fan turn into a twelve year old Sioux fan. So happy to make your 2011 Final Five by getting some Sioux players to sign your jersey. I'm glad you joined our team. Your parents are still welcome to join you. To LSSU, Northern Michigan, Ferris State, Bowling Green, Alaska, and Alabama-Huntsville...you have big shoes to fill. May your programs be successful and may your affiliation with the WCHA be everything you hope for. I will cheer for you every time you play a Big 10 team. 2001-2013. The X. The greatest tournament in the greatest hockey city around. The king has fallen...long live the king.
  12. Hey NorthDakotaHockey...can I pick up that waffle cone between the 2nd and 3rd period of tonite's game? 5-1 Michigan...
  13. Daddy WarPipes...read your PM!
  14. Apparently not enough power plays last night for Bjugstad to be interested in playing!
  15. You couldn't ask those two guys to pose together outside in the lobby somewhere? LOL!
  16. Classic. How your dad could get Sacred Heart confused with Providence College and their epic upset over Minnesota in 2006 is beyond me!
  17. I've seen Lowell play several times this year. They are a solid solid club.
  18. Overheard several times yesterday..."Wilbur doesn't look ANYTHING like I expected".
  19. Actually, I believe it was the 1994-1995 season, Lucia's second year at CC...still can't believe that travesty. If memory serves me right, CC had 30+ wins and 10 losses in the regular season before losing to Tech twice in the WCHA playoffs. To NOT be selected for the NCAA tournament was an absolute joke.
  20. Was that 1994? I remember Tech winning two more games to go to the Final Five title game...only to get absolutely dismantled by Minnesota...
  21. More like Red Dawn.
  22. Exactly what I'm seeing. Brown vs Union, Canisius vs Mercyhurst, and WI vs CC spells D-O-O-M for St Cloud. If BU beats UMass-Lowell tomorrow or Michigan or Ohio State wins the CCHA title on Sunday, those NCAA speculative brackets drawn up over the past few days will be absolutely blown up!
  23. Yea, regular season conference championship should carry some weight...wasn't it 1994 or 1995 when a 30-win CC team was left at home thanks to a first-round loss to #10 Michigan Tech?
  24. Colorado College is leaving the Broadmoor with the WCHA. The MacNaughton Cup belongs to Michigan Tech and also obviously stays with the WCHA as well.
  25. I would have to check the Tech-less years... EDIT: 82-84 regular season Broadmoor winners: 82 NoDak 83 Minnesota 84 UMD Colorado College has never won the Broadmoor Trophy, whether awarded for the regular season OR the playoff WCHA championship. Go CC Tigers!
