  1. That was my point entirely...
  2. So he says she's looking like Kim these days?
  3. It has potential...however, unless the conference can find some more schools willing to field hockey teams, I think the 6-team conference is a real downer. Maryland and Rutgers? REALLY? I don't see them or Indiana, Northwestern, Nebraska, or anyone else jumping on the hockey bandwagon anytime soon.
  4. LOL...something 98% of B10 football, basketball, and hockey players most likely couldn't care less about...
  5. Good information to know...I'm about 40 minutes away from Dickinson...keep me posted.
  6. I appreciate the tip...will see if I can work out logistics and check it out.
  7. Who knew that Dickinson would be THE place to be today, eh BigChief?
  8. I heard this same song and dance in 1998 when Ohio State made the Frozen Four by upsetting Michigan State in the Yost regional. 15 years and no Frozen Four appearances since, I continue to hear all about Ohio State's 'potential'. As for the school itself, I lost ALL respect for it after Jim Tressel was finally exposed to be a complete fraud. And the NCAA turns a blind eye because it doesn't want to come down too hard on one of its cash cows...
  9. Michigan State's program is a complete mess right now...Wisconsin's late-season run is all fine and dandy but attendance there is down and fans do not especially care for the current style of play...Penn State's football sanctions are most certainly going to affect hockey...we've discussed OSU at-length already...which leaves Minnesota and Michigan as the cream of the crop. I predict exactly ONE NCAA hockey bid next season...unless the playoff winner is someone not named Minnesota.
  10. And in 2010, Buckeye men's hockey generated less than $939,000 of revenue...but expenditures came to almost $2.6 million. How much more do you think Buckeye U can throw away before the men's hockey team turns a $20 net profit? You seem to have a fondness for Ohio State...don't you post on buckeyesports.com as 86BuckeyeGuy? JK.
  11. If you think Urban Meyer will allow one dime to go towards developing or improving men's ice hockey over football, well, you're just wrong.
  12. Wrong on both counts here Wilbur. The Gopher hockey team is still a niche sport here...media and fans give far more coverage to basketball and football than hockey.
  13. It's been 2.5 years since I have been back here...I wasn't aware that Happy Joe's had closed or that there was a 'new' Sax Motors...
  14. I will back you all the way on this one Wilbur. Folks who think OSU hockey will draw 7,000-10,000 per game at home next year are sadly mistaken.
  15. Anything in Dickinson ND? I'm back home visiting the 'rents and would prefer watching te game somewhere else in HD...
  16. Here's some information for you: Ohio State drew approximately 2,000 fans for their three-game series with Ferris State. Not per game, for the entire weekend! It's probably a GOOD thing that the Buckeyes used their practice rink. Having attended the 2005 Frozen Four, I can honestly tell you that Joe Six Pack in Columbus had NO CLUE that the men's ice hockey tournament was in town...but he could tell you the exact second that OSU spring football practice started that weekend.
  17. That would be a quick conversation! Don: OMG...Kim's butt is HUGE! Dave: Shut up Don. I'm drawing up my lines.
  18. Hey UNDfaninMICH, Pick a venue and time and have some folks meet you there. Siouxman and Mrs Siouxman apparently have lots of time on their hands...LOL.
  19. Oh please. 1/3 of the Irish crowd was Notre Dame fans...1/2 of the Michigan crowd was wearing maize and blue. Size of an arena DOES matter and YOU know that as well. 3,500 in a small barn that seats 3,600 is a great hockey environment. 3,500 in an arena that seats 17,500 is about as lively as a 4:00 pm Saturday afternoon Catholic mass.
  20. OSU drew 5700 and change and 6700 and change at Value City Arena against Notre Dame and Michigan this year. That's a 1/3 full barn. Sleeping giant? OSU should smarten up and improve their own on-campus ice arena rather than force its hockey team to play in VCA.
  21. Sent you a text with photo attached. I will have the newest picture available in about a week.
  22. You can't say that on the air!
  23. Maybe we need to start the brunch at 10am...I hogged (pun not intended) the microphone enough myself but I left out plenty of other good stories...
  24. Tom isn't a sports guy at all and wouldn't know the Final Five was in town unless I told him. He's very much an introvert, which is unusual for a bar owner. Trust me, he means well and enjoys our group. His wife is Jossie, the pony-tailed blonde who does the dirty work. Tom takes care of the books...she slogs it out working with the grunts. Jossie did tell me that she sincerely appreciates our group coming in year after year. Next year, I'll make sure either Tom or Jossie grab the mike and says a few words. The shirts, while my idea, got done because of Jossie's leg-work. Without her, those very cool mementos of the brunch wouldn't have happened. Which reminds me, I couldn't afford to buy 70-100 shirts and give them away, but I do hope everyone took home something memorable from the brunch and gave out as many shirts as I could. If you did NOT get one and would like one, please send me a PM and I will see what I can do to get you one. Again, If you have any thoughts on making the 2014 brunch even better, feel free to pass along your ideas and thoughts. I already can't wait...
