And that's another correct assumption, in my book. UND and Minnesota can now bank on being in the same regional year after year after year after year after year...

Because my post was thick with sarcasm... You see, UND changed the nickname like the NCAA wanted...and is still getting the shaft. Now the company line is "well, you should have done it years ago and we wouldn't be in this situation and the NCAA would give us regionals and stuff." No, they wouldn't.

Still the opening weekend...not much difference, in my opinion.

Why do I get the feeling that if it was revealed today that last night's SU squad was really 10 FarmHouse frat boys from the NDSU intramural league in disguise that you and a few others here would STILL find a way to downplay their win?

For all the talk about how well the Sioux played in giving up 100+ points to Wisconsin...the D-III UW-Platteville squad only allowed 80 against the Badgers.

And I agree that beating WI a few years ago was a bigger accomplishment than beating Notre Dame yesterday. it's still a nice notch in NDSU's belt. However... Notre Dame: 31 NCAA tournament apprarances Wisconsin: 19 Notre Dame: 1 Final Four Wisconsin: 2 After winning the 1941 title (save for a 1947 tourney appearance), Wisconsin would go thru almost 50 years of basketball irrelevace. Had UND beaten Wisconsin this year, folks on SiouxSports.com would demand a new wing be installed at the Betty to honor the feat of the greatest win in school history.

And what exactly would you categorize Wisconsin basketball as?

So on the basis of UND beating SU by 18, shouldn't UND be able to go into South Bend and roll the Irish? Surely, you jest... I get a kick out of fans here not giving SU some credit. Some folks apparently think they're on par with Dickinson or Minot State. Of course, I read the same thing after the Kansas State/NDSU football game too.

Just go back to 5 on 5 and let ties happen. The shoot-out is akin to MLB not playing extra innings and letting the game be decided by a home-run hitting contest.

The same Bowling Green team that rolled UND last night was beaten by 24 by Wisconsin a few weeks ago.

Oh if only the nickname had been changed twenty years ago, we wouldn't be in this predicament... Whatever. The NCAA has a burr in its saddle about Grand Forks, ND and probably always will.

Big East basketball sucks...UConn, Georgetown, Villanova, Syracuse, Marquette...those teams all suck. They lost 10 games at home. Call me when NDSU beats a team that went 256-0 at home since 2006-2007 and I might be impressed.

Put UND in NDSU's place last night...Irish win by 25. And if NDSU traveled to Miami tonight and beat the Heat, your first comment would be 'yea, well Dwayne Wade isn't a third of the player he used to be - I'm still not impressed.'

31 times in the NCAA tournament...Austin Carr scored 61 points against Ohio in 1970...ended UCLA's 88 game winning streak in 1974...a 27-7 record in 2011...yea, they've never done anything special in basketball...

NDSU...leading off ESPN with a win at Wisconsin a few years ago...giving Kansas a run for its money in the NCAA's...and winning at Notre Dame tonight. I don't know about everyone else but I'm tired of playing catch-up to the Bison in everything but hockey.
