And does this sound like a coach resigning on his own or was this resignation made by Hardee as Faison was figuratively pointing a gun at his head?
-
I was by no means suggesting that level of seriousness...just confused why Hardee would resign so quickly.
-
Apples to oranges. Sioux to Sio would be apples to apples.

MSU-Mankato puts their head football coach on paid admin leave for a year while he fights crim sex conduct charges...but UND's volleyball coach resigns over a fender-bender?
-
OK, maybe Braves and Bras is a bad example...or maybe it's not?
-
Talk about ups and downs...Maine smokes BU and BC...and then goes to Vermont and promptly gets swept.

December 4, 2013: Second batch of SiouxSports.com hats are done and ready to be sorted out and shipped. Pick-up details coming in the next couple of days.

Wow, that's very sad. Nice gesture, sprig. Right place, right time. Sometimes you're chosen for such things.

I absolutely detest nicknames where the name is shortened to something that isn't even a word. For example, some of the worst jerseys of recent memory include the 1980's "CAVS" jerseys for Cleveland as well as the BOLTS jerseys that Tampa Bay wore and the SENS jerseys of the Ottawa Senators. Sens? Really? You would never call the Dodgers the Dods or the Braves the Bras, so why something as lame as Cavs? Yuck.

http://www1.umn.edu/...ca_policies.pdf To promote an atmosphere of respect the University of Minnesota Athletics Department shall make every effort to avoid scheduling home events with schools that use Native American mascots. The use of Native American mascots by athletic teams is perceived by many in our community as portraying Native American culture in demeaning and stereotypical ways. Consequently, the department will strongly discourage the scheduling of athletic events on campus when the team(s) involved use Native American mascots. When teams using Native American mascots participate in athletic events on this campus, the Native American mascots, nicknames and symbols will not be permitted to be displayed (except as they pre-exist on teams uniforms, equipment and apparel). Teams will be described and announced using the institution’s name only. In addition, the University of Minnesota's Athletics Department shall make every effort not to host any preseason, regular season or postseason competition at sites, venues, or facilities which have membership requirements or practices which result in discrimination on the basis of race, gender, national origin, religion or sexual orientation. IF A TEAM HAS A NATIVE AMERICAN MASCOT NAME AND THE NCAA HAS APPROVED IT AND THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS ON THAT TEAM, THEN THIS POLICY DOES NOT APPLY. In short, if its racist and hurtful, we should avoid playing your school...UNLESS the NCAA says it's ok, then this policy goes right out the window.

It's a hunch, but I think Johnny Football is closer to being the next Ryan Leaf than the next Peyton Manning.

I am enjoying watching Minnesota play the Florida State Seminoles in the Big 10/ACC Challenge tonight. Nickname policy-schmolicy... Total hypocrites.

I'd still take Yzerman today over Sidney Crysby. Cue DaveK's response in 3...2...1...
-
Actually, he's the GM...and Paul Coffey and Brendan Shanahan are retired. Yea, I know...
-
Groan...NHL 2013 thread...more of the same. Zetterberg out with herniated disc. Maybe Yzerman can lace 'em up for a few weeks while he's out.
-
I like it. If there is a 3rd order to be done, this hat and moniker will be included.

Much like UND Campus Police would investigate a similar incident if it happened on the campus at UND...standard procedure.

He had many others...here's another goodie after the 1968 tie with Notre Dame in which the Irish were helped by a couple of iffy calls. McKay was asked about the officiating: "I'm not surprised. The referee is a fine Catholic fellow by the name of Patrick Murphy."
-
Best line ever by a coach (John McKay) when asked by the media about his team's (that would be Tampa Bay's) execution: "I'm all for it."
-
C'mon, he played half of his career with a TERRIBLE Tampa Bay team! Great team leader.
-
That Bucs defense was something else. I'm stunned that that team didn't win another Super Bowl. Back to the Vikings...obviously QB is a need. Obviously Tampa Bay made the right decision with respect to Josh Freeman...it's time for the Vikings do the same thing with him...and Ponder.
-
So which 1980's QB would you get rid of in an era where the QB wasn't as important as it is today? Bradshaw? Plunkett? Montana? Theismann? McMahon? Simms? Williams? I think QB in the 1980's was just as important as today, but that's just my opinion.
-
...So how do you explain QB's like Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer wearing Super Bowl rings?
-
I agree on the durability and personal issues but disagree in terms of 'franchise' QB. Like it or not, from about 1979 thru the late 1980's, Tommy was the face of the Vikings. First QB to throw for 450 yards in a game (and he did it TWICE), 6 TD's thrown in a game, and highest-rated QB of 1986. QB's weren't important in the 1980's? How good was Green Bay in those years?

Nice to see Ottawa welcom home Daniel Afredsson last night...nice to see fans appreciate his years of dedication to the Senators. As an added bonus, I knew Goon would want to see the video link to the tribute the Ottawa organization paid to the former captain and face of the Senators franchise... http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nhl/wings/2013/12/01/daniel-alfredsson-ottawa-senators-detroit-red-wings/3799759/
