Edina students lobbed a "public school" chant at the Holy Angels students a few years ago (Danny Mattson's last game as a Star) at the Hornets/Stars game at Bloomington Ice Gardens. I just about died laughing at the irony of the #1 cake-eating school in the state taunting someone else. As gfhockey would say: "bullies!"

That's the problem of new stadiums...they sell themselves for a few years regardless of the product that's on the field. The honeymoon's just about over for Target Field and the Twins though. Problem is, around the time that they're forced to actually get some players (or risk have Targe Field look as vacant as Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on game-day), the new Vikings stadium will open and allow another Minnesota sports team to totally suck while its fans bask in the glow of new stadium-ness.

I had heard that Minnetonka wasn't going to be outdone by Hopkins...had no idea it was THAT bad. Yikes. I coached a kid playing 10 year old baseball in Bloomington a couple of years ago...the next season, I saw him playing on the posh west-side traveling team. He wasn't recruited but his sister was - so she could play basketball...in the Jaguar program...at 12 years old. Unbelievable.

What's the over/under on losing 90 games this season? I haven't followed the Central Division off-season moves that closely, other than Detroit's, and I'm happy to say that the Prince Fielder/Miguel Cabrera combination has been broken up. Fielder's been terrible in the post-season, both with Milwaukee and Detroit, and I think Dombrowski finally had enough. Ian Kinsler is a good athlete and improves Detroit's stolen base opportunities greatly. Watching Prince and Miguel out there was like watching the Bloomington Fireman's Softball Tournament at times. My early prediction: 1) Tigers - and it won't be close 2) Indians 3) Royals 4) White Sox 5) Twins

Because Jefferson never pilfers the best Kennedy kids as early as squirts and has them play for the Jaguars, do they? West Bush Lake Road Bloomington kids playing in the Eden Prairie program? Richfield kids playing for Edina? Duluth East? Roseau? Warroad? Say it ain't so, Joe, say it ain't so. Why stop at hockey? How about Hopkins boys basketball? How many of those kids on this year's team are actual residents of Hopkins, LOL?
