  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWHZorVfpEo&feature=player_embedded ...and an emotional scene from last night's Lightning/Jets game in Winnipeg...
  2. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2807153/Heartbreaking-homecoming-body-fallen-Canadian-Corporal-Nathan-Cirillo-returned-hometown-Highway-Heroes.html Very cool of the community to have "O Canada" played at last night's Sioux game...
  3. Tech swept a series in GF in the Toews and Oshie era? Good grief...and there were no riots in Grand Forks? The %gobc didn't fire Hak after THAT?
  4. No worries. I was at that 2000 Final Five at Target Center too. Hard to believe that that was almost 15 years ago already.
  5. Shouldn't a home playoff loss to Mankato or Michigan Tech be on there somewhere? Didn't a #1 WCHA seed Sioux team need 3 games to dispatch a #10 somewhere along the line?
  6. I think most of the Providence players are not married...interesting theory, though.
  7. Here's my nominee for one of the three worst...New Hampshire 7, North Dakota 4, December 29, 2007. UND had a 2-0 lead early in the 2nd and a 3-1 lead about midway thru the 2nd. UNH scored to make it 3-2 UND going into the 3rd, then the wheels fell off. UNH scores 5 goals, two of them ENG, to UND's 1 goal, to win 7-4. Worst third period of hockey I've seen at REA. http://www.uscho.com/box/mens-hockey/2007/12/29/new-hampshire-vs-north-dakota/
  8. Stay on topic, scpa...games AT REA, not away games.
  9. I did some research, though, Blackheart, on Harry Sinden, after your comments. He was so incensed about the Penguins' proposed color change that he had a Bruins jersey done in Red Wings colors and brought it to the Board of Governors meeting. Owners, however, were already so mad at him that he chickened out and didn't show it to everyone as a protest against Pittsburgh's change. Funny story...I wonder what ever happened to that jersey?
  10. The place was still abuzz from the after-shock of the first game...when North Dakota scored the first goal against Michigan, I thought the roof was gonna blow off the top of the building! UND vs Michigan gets my vote for one of the top three spots.

    gas prices

http://news.investors.com/ibd-editorials/022112-601827-obama-shifting-talk-on-high-gas-prices.htm "Candidate" Obama certainly knew who to blame...
  12. So Oxbow6 (over in the Providence Friday Game Thread) made the statement that the Bemidji State game two weeks ago is one of the 3 worst losses in the history of REA and last night's win over the PC Friars is one of the 3 best. Anyone else have any games to add to that? And, NO, Holy Cross over Minnesota is NOT allowed on the list of top 3 victories at REA...
  13. The U of Alberta defeated Yale last night. Ouch.

    gas prices

A 20 oz Mountain Dew is $1.69 at Holiday! Nevermind the whining about gas prices, did ISIS blow up a PepsiCo pipeline somewhere?
  15. Will never happen. It's too bad that Jim Leyland didn't stick around in Detroit for one more year and then retire after the Tigers were eliminated (amd thrashed, quite honestly) by Baltimore
  16. The city of Pittsburgh flag - black and yellow The Steelers - black and yellow The Pirates - black and yellow The Penguins - Hey, let's be black and yellow! Harry Sinden - waaaaaaaah!
  17. Steven Stamkos is worth the price of admission. The new kid Jonathan Drouin is gonna be good too. Watch out for Tampa Bay, folks!
  18. I wouldn't necessarily take it that way, bigskyvikes. Things change over time...when I was in school, Denver was a total patsie and you could certainly count on a few hundred, if not five hundred empty seats. In the Gwoz years, especially in the late 1990's and 2000's, Denver became the hot ticket. Things change...
  19. Just sayin'...two weeks ago, some folks were ready to burn their Sioux jerseys in protest over the Bemidji loss...now it's all unicorns and glitter over here. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice change of pace...a sweep tomorrow would be just fine by me.
  20. Providence has a solid club - saw them play several games last season. In terms of national recognition, though, you are 100% correct - 4 out of 5 fans inside REA tonight would have had no clue they were ranked in the top five in the country. BC could roll into town ranked #20, but it's BC...that's just how it is.
  21. Is everyone who jumped out of the boat two weeks ago safely back onboard?
  22. Unless I mis-counted at the end, both teams had over 30 shots on goal. Minnesota does give up a ton of chances...
