In case anyone hasn't heard there was a school shooting at an elementary school in CT this morning. At least 27 dead including 18 kids. That's right 18 K-4th graders. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the kids and adults killed in this tragedy.

Isn't it an automatic 3 points for home field so on a neutral field NDSU would be favored by 6. Seems like a very low number for the #1 defense, and for what NDSU did to them the last time they met.

I agree it was boring watching UND wax Winona State every damn year. But when Pitt State and UC Davis came in that place was packed and loud. I was at the UND-UC Davis game in 2001 where UC Davis had I believe 7 fall starts due to the noise. Maybe when UND starts putting some W's on the board we can get back to that level but right now we are a little bit above the Eastern Michigan level.

I agree. Can't we get at least South Dakota or a Wisconsin team (GB or Milwaukee) at least a DI team. Crown and Presentation...I never heard of them. What's next Lake Region?

What was our RPI last year when we got Kansas on the schedule? It couldn't have been a low number since we were in the GWC. I would think we were close to the 270-300 range.

Would people act this way if the hockey team started 0-6 or 1-7? Its a long season this isn't football where its done in 3 months. I agree that everyone needs to calm down.

That's why I look at the SOS and take the non-conference records with a grain of salt. UND is 0-6 in DI games but has the 23rd toughest schedule in the nation. There are 4 BSC teams (Montana, PSU, UNC and UND) that are in the top 50 in SOS. The teams that should be worried are the ones at the bottom of the league with the worst SOS like Montana State (SOS of 232).

I agree on the transition excuse but only 2 home games and only one of them against a DI opponent isn't going to pack the place. UND has had a horrible road trip to start the year at KSU, at Hawaii, at UNI, at SDSU that is some good talent 23rd in the nation in SOS according to Sagarin rankings. We need more games at the Betty to get people in the seats and of course we need to win. NDSU has had both a lot of games in Fargo and a lot of W's. The best combo you can ask for.

Their attendance is really bad: 834 vs Harvard, 412 vs Mayville St, 891 vs Northern Iowa, 2709 vs UND, 512 vs Drake 1072 average or 662 without the UND game. For the UND women: 1450 vs Harvard, 1400 vs Air Force, 1720 vs Drake Average 1523. Quite a difference

I can only dream to have over 18,000 for UND football. When you have that many despite FM's population that is still good. UND had great crowds in the past at the Alerus but what is NDSU doing that UND isn't doing to get a sellout? WIN!!! You win people will come you lose people will stay home.

Each sport has its ups and downs. In the 80's hockey took a little dip between 82-87, women's basketball wasn't that great under Dave Gunther and our football team was horrible when Roger Thomas took over. Men's basketball was good during the Rich Glas years but has struggled before and after him. All sports are not going to have great success every year and at the same time especially when you go through a transition to a higher level and play higher level teams. Just be patient.

Great point that it is just another OOC game, its just not the same feeling compared to when both teams were in the NCC. Maybe one day both teams will be in the same conference.

I guess Saul Phillips said the atmosphere was stale and wants the game back to the BSA. I hope when they play in GF its at the Betty just like have this game at the BSA and leave the REA for hockey and the Fargodome for football...at least until both teams are in the same conference.

Me and my family was at the game. Atmosphere sucked big time. I never heard such a quiet UND-NDSU game ever. My kids had fun doing the chicken dance on the court at halftime. Food was good, but the game itself stunk. UND looked horrible. If they play like that no way do we even get close to .500 let alone have a shot at the dance. Next Monday UND is at SUU and that's when every game matters, so Brian Jones better figure out what is wrong with this team and fix it quick.
