If they did the expansion how many more seats could be added?

They would have the smallest stadium in the FBS. They cannot expand the dome for more seats. Unless they do neutral site games in Minneapolis or Lincoln, they aren’t going to attract big name FBS teams to increase money to cover the expense being in the Sun Belt. The current smallest stadium capacity in the FBS is Louisiana Tech 28,562, the Fargodome is 19,000.

Also don’t look at the city of Fargo to fund a new dome, the city is broke. NDSU would be Idaho 2.0.

How did the Big Sky set us apart? It was the only conference available for football. I am pretty sure if the MVFC/SL said we will take both USD and UND, we would have never set foot in the Big Sky. How is UND tippy toeing into Fargo, I don’t see the MWC or the Big 12 knocking at their door. They are not going into the FBS as we aren’t either. We don’t have the facility nor the money to move up.

By July 1, all of the FCS will be moving up.

UND isn’t in the Big Sky. We are FCS Independents for 2 years with a Big Sky schedule so we aren’t scrambling to fill games like we did in the GWFC days. We have absolutely no affiliation with the Big Sky in any sport.

Why not play it at Cushman?

That boatload would go straight to women’s hockey before we signed the dotted line to the Sun Belt.

I don’t think it’s set up for the public, even though they could stick a few porta potties there and call it good.

Any chance for Minny or Wisconsin in 2023?

How does one buy out a DII university? Who puts the price tag on a school that has been in SF as long as UND has been around (1883). I know Sanford has money but to buy out a college, seems highly unlikely.

With the money problem, joining the Sun Belt and fan support going FBS is only realistic on this:

They need to have one dollar pop or hotdogs for the second half or 4th quarter, something to keep fans from leaving just not 10 cent beer...didn’t work so well in Cleveland.

They can meet by the bear memorial at University Park.

I don’t know if I ever saw it posted on here but why is the Potato Bowl and Homecoming combined? I have never seen that before, are we going to have 2 parades?

Got my tickets for the Potato Bowl, can’t believe the season is now weeks not months away. Single game tickets went on sale at 10am hopefully the Alerus will be rocking!

Is the weird days because we have odd number of teams? Or are they always scheduled like this.

I am excited to be challenging these guys for a title too. It was great back in the NCC days and battling the Bison for state bragging rights when we not only beat them but won the conference. And who could forget the epic games against USD in the GWC (and GWFC) days, those games usually came down to the wire. Yes we will play teams like Oral Roberts, and IPFW but so what we had those type of teams in the Big Sky. Montana and Weber were fun but the excitement won’t measure up with our old rivals. Let the SL season begin!!

We were in the Big Sky for 6 seasons, we were in the Great West for 4 seasons, how much history do you think we have with the likes of Utah Valley, Montana, Montana St and Weber State when compared to South Dakota, South Dakota St, Omaha, NDSU, Denver (if you think hockey), we were in the NCC with most of these guys for 80 years, that’s history. You talk about parity in the Big Sky? The title was favored by either Montana or Weber St, just like the SL is favored by SDSU almost every year. The NCC had parity, the Great West had parity. What does the MVFC have to do with improvement in the SL for UND? The MVFC is MVC members and our Dakota SL members plus Western Illinois thrown in there. People call this move the NCC 2.0 but what’s wrong with that. They (Dakota 3 and UNO) have proved themselves they can win big games, make it to the NCAA tournament and even win in post season tournaments. It’s not like we are moving down to DII again.

Since 2012 Omaha has had 2 seasons of 18 wins where UND has had one, so I wouldn’t dismiss Omaha at least not in men’s basketball.

Keep this in mind...we have yet to beat Omaha in men’s basketball since they have moved up.
