I jumped into the boat that had the point of all ticket sales for football should NOT be in the hands of the REA but into the hands of the university and the Alerus. I know you don’t agree with that but that’s my view and his view and the view of others and you can make fun of those who don’t agree with you, just says a lot of your character.

He must be one of them UND hockey/NDSU all sport fans. They are a rare breed.

UND still has the Hyslop so technically they still have a home for basketball and volleyball. But it won’t come to that as they both need each other.

The attendance comparison between the two are stupid because total capacity is always going to favor hockey. And even if the Alerus was at 100% capacity for 5 games, and playoffs, the total will ALWAYS be greater for hockey than football, so their point or Petey's fuzzy math doesn't make sense.

If people want to bring up attendance of hockey vs attendance vs football, don't look at 2000 or 1999. Where the average attendance at Memorial Stadium was more than the capacity of the REA. 2000- 8658 1999- 8710 capacity at the REA was 6,067 So maybe the funds should have been dumped into football and not so much into hockey.

Like this little attendance fact: 2001 (National title, 1 loss, first season in a dome) 10,024 2017 3-8 record 10,462 (record average attendance)

How do put a product on the field that makes the Alerus 99% full? Can’t say hire coaches because football doesn’t have the money for a top notch coach.

I think people have warmed up to the name but the logo is what’s the problem. For me I like it, but if the people had a vote on it maybe more people would accept it. Ed Schafer dropped the ball on that, as making that part of the whole nickname/logo process unvotable and only he had the final say. Maybe a secondary logo will be in the future, one resembling the mascot who knows. But whether you love it, like it or hate it, it does get noticed. Hard to believe it’s 2 years already and 3 for the name.

You compared the #1 sport at UND with the #1 sport at NDSU, why would football fit into that equation?

And as UND’s #2 sport that’s good. What’s the average attendance capacity of NDSU’s #2 sport MBB? Apples to apples.

So according to your math. Assume they have 5 games at 13,500 (using record attendance) per game equaling 67,500 a season. So if 307,063 (your example plus mine) attended hockey and football and 67,500 was at the Alerus and 239,692 was at the REA that would be 22% for fans in the Alerus and 78% for the REA. It would always be a mismatch in attendance by your math, so I don't get the point you are making? The REA shouldn't have anything to do with football sales AT ALL. That program's sales should be run by either the Alerus or UND.

Throw in people wanting to cut football to reinstate women’s hockey and the negativity continues.

If the hockey team goes through a drought of no championships (national or conference) and has an average to a below average record over say a 10 year period you will see attendance drop at the Ralph. I saw it in the 80’s and 90’s at the old Ralph. Empty seats, losing records, no titles between 83-86 and 88-96, and that’s our #1 sport. So if the Alerus has close to or is above 10k for our #2 sport that’s pretty impressive.
