But on social media you would think there were games sold out and thousands of people in line at games....oh wait that describes the men’s team. Lots of crickets in line to see the women’s hockey team.
But not growing enough for Central and Red River to field separate teams. So if they reinstate the program how many of the people on social media screaming to reinstate it are going to pay a ticket (provided it’s no longer free admission) and show up. Hopefully more than the 200 that found their way to a playoff game.
How can they force a school who had to cut their budget thanks to the governor and former governor to reinstate a program that loses 2 million dollars a year? And why women’s hockey? Why isn’t wrestling, baseball, and swimming getting reinstated too? The program is gone and buried get over it.
UND has a history of poorly attended first round games. Winona State in 2001 was what half full and we won the national title with only one loss. So winning puts butts in the seats may be an excuse but it’s a damn good one. It was that way at NDSU before their dynasty started they didn’t sellout the Fargodome every game in 2011 after their 3 win 2010 season (let alone during that season) and they didn’t fill the dome in their first EVER playoff game at the dome in 2011. So even a football school can stumble in attendance if they start dropping games.
What are you going to do in 12 years when UND takes control of the REA, and the Betty, and Hawk logos are all over the place? On buildings, signs and the court/ice?
