Impressive for a team that has averaged 3,000 fans over three home games. No doubt they will bring their "A" game. The wins are impressive statistically, minus the fact that they've played a bunch of nobodies. (though I'm sure Northern Iowa fans said the same things about us in 2006) IF we can get some people to show up and pack the house, I think that crowd noise could be a factor. Additionally, through 6 games they have 13 fumbles. (though only four lost) I expect that the team has been hearing about that stat this week and will look to cause some turnovers. I mean if a team averages over two fumbles a game against lackluster opponents, we can certainly hope for that trend to continue this Saturday if not increase.

BEST. VIDEO. EVER. One can only hope we have a video half as amazing as this.

From the student side, all of the 2,400-some student tickets have been claimed. Students can still buy tickets for $5.

Another thing to think about - we're kinda USF's "Texas Tech" this year. I just went to their athletics page and there was a splash page devoted just to the game between us with a number to call for tickets...and it's an away game for them.

They have been painting...though it's a rather drab, forest green. Maybe it's just a primer...

I was recently home in Raleigh, North Carolina visiting my family when an ad in the sports section caught my eye. The University of North Carolina is having an alumni game to kick off their 100th season of basketball. Given their storied history, there are a lot of noteworthy former players that will be playing in the game. This got me thinking - given the success of our program and how many quality hockey players have come from here, why not have an alumni game? It would be a great way to kick off the year and/or fill the off season. All of the proceeds could go to a worthy charity, much like what UNC is doing. You can read about the Carolina game here: Carolina Alumni Game

I love this! And not just because that is my picture in there! One suggestion - Make the photographer's credits a little more bold and in something more like 48pt. font. (totally kidding)

I grew up with a Lacrosse team being started at my high school in 2003 (in North Carolina) and finding relatively good success. The sport is somewhat interesting and at least garners some attention because it is so new to people. However, I have found that after the initial "new" factor wears off, college lacrosse can become very dull and boring. I don't see why they play large field lacrosse when the only pro lacrosse is in arenas and arena lacrosse is so much more exciting. It's too bad that most schools wouldn't have a hockey arena at their disposal to make that happen...I think it could get a lot of attention.

Sweet! Thanks for taking care of this! -
Hell if someone can provide the gear, I'd suit up in goal just to make this happen. Keep us posted!

If we can make this happen I am IN. I will check with a few friends too.

To me it seems there is absolutely no excuse for these games not to be on FSSN. How much cost is really involved in having the TV broadcast in Wisconsin beam the signal over here? I'm sure that channel 23's viewership increases a hundred fold when the Sioux are on and it would also mean a lot more exposure for the Wisconsin channel and for their advertisers.

May have to try that one tomorrow...I like it. I'd also like to add that some friends and I tried some stuff this year, but to no avail. Our favorite was chanting "SACRIFICE! SACRIFICE! WE DEMAND A SACRIFICE! (x2) GIVE US BLOOD! GIVE US BLOOD! NOWWWWWWWW!!! Every time an opponent got a penalty. I thought it could be intimidating to come to the box while people chanted for a sacrifice, but I guess people just don't want to be intimidating. Or I'm just crazy.

I don't have any actual readings to back my thoughts. (might be interesting to do so) But in my experience going to hockey games at the Ralph vs. The RBC Center, (home of the Carolina Hurricanes) there seems to be a noticable difference in air temperature. I'm usually colder sitting in the upper deck of a Hurricanes game than I am in any row but the front row at the Ralph. Sometimes I swear that place is almost a sauna during games. They should just try keeping it a little colder and they should see improvements with a lower heating bill and a lower cooling bill for the ice. Plus, that cold air might liven up the crowd a little more.

Congratulations to Duluth. What a turnaround! I'll hope that the player who yelled "watch while I crucify your mother" last year on the sideline after halftime graduated and wasn't a part of that. I feel bad for NW Missouri State. Four straight years to the Division II Championship and no wins. Sounds a lot like a hockey team I know.

My parents have just decided that they would like to come up (from North Carolina) to see me this year and would also like to see me play my drum at the men's hockey games against Wisconsin. They would prefer to sit on the same side as the benches/press boxes so that they can see me play, but really anywhere is fine. If you have tickets for either or both games that you are looking to sell (preferably both) please contact me: Peter Bruce Brucesky02@gmail.com (701) 330-8058

Just noticed this in the game notes: "Mark Newbill (So.) 28 Solo, 12 Assisted, Sacks 7, INT 0, Breakups 0, FF 1" SEVEN sacks? That would be every single sack on the team per the stats rundown...perhaps that's an error. If it is true, I hope we're putting a red sticker on his helmet to keep track of him or something.

She could have won by a LOT more. Her first day she went +3 on her final 2 holes and yesterday I think Kristi bogeyed her final 4 holes. I personally am looking forward to seeing her dominate down in Moorhead September 27th.

It was definitely one of the loudest I've heard at the Alerus! During the pregame I could barely hear the drum majors whistle off the pregame show! It was a great crowd and a lot of fun to play at. Well, at least until the end of the 3rd quarter that is...

Lots of D-IAA teams play D-II teams. Northern Iowa (#3 in IAA at the time I believe) played us in 2006 while we were "just a D-II team."

I'm working on the band thing because I agree we need some more flavor. I've got a few ideas already suggested, but if anyone has any further ideas, feel free to post them and we'll see what happens.

Well dangit...I guess I'm not getting my jersey signed this year...

I agree that indoor lacrosse is pretty intense and exciting. This, however, is outdoor lacrosse so...eh. I suppose they are still scoring in double digits usually, but it doesn't quite have the same pressure on defense since there's a lot more space to work with.
