Make it a closed site to UND donorsand all you're perceived problems go away, until then, I grew up in ND and find all things related ND sports interesting and will continue to read and contribute to any and all conversations I want to.
-
So if I happen to check this site at a time shortly after someone made a post that I respond to, you folks are going to assume I've been intently reading and stalking every post just waiting for the right time to strike? Interesting perspective.
-
You're post was clearly designed to produce a response. Why would you be surprised when it does just that?

There is no tenor to my post, as I said above, to be of the opinion that ksu would beat ndsu and do it handily was probably a good bet, just as thinking an FBS Wyoming would take down a rising fcs team was probably a good bet. My post was strictly in response to '83 saying "literally" nobody on this board thought ksu would beat ndsu. That simply wasn't the case. No judgement for people thinking that way. Hell, if I didn't have a strict policy of never picking against the bison, I probably would have picked ksu to beat ndsu. I had serious doubts about ndsu beating ksu, just as I had doubts about UND being able to beat Wyoming, just as many of you did. all I'm saying is it would be false to say that many on this board didn't think ksu would beat ndsu. is that a fair statement?
-
First of all, you made the claim that "literally" nobody thought ksu would humble ndsu, so one example is enough to refute your claim. secondly, the poster above named at least 3 posters who were vocal about ndsu would finally meet their FBS demise. You choose to ignore that. the facts are many people here were of the opinion that ndsu would get what's coming to it, I don't even blame them actually, it was one hell of an upset. As stated by the previous poster you seemed to have reservations back in 2013 about ksu's ability to beat down ndsu, but that wasn't the prevailing opinion here.
-
Are you serious? This place was rampant with people saying ndsu would finally be humbled since they were playing a "real" FBS team. Also, you can say they were a different team at the end of the year if you want to drag out that old excuse, but they did win a bowl game against Michigan that year.

In my experience, the term core values often gets used when it is an attitude issue. Player wasn't buying into the coaches vision for the team. Doesn't always make the kid a bad apple, just not the right fit for that particular program. That said sometimes kids like that are "uncoachable" and may not be a good fit anywhere due to attitude. Not saying that is the case here, just saying what my experience with the terms violation of core values can mean.

You give me far too much credit if you think I could ever rock a mullet like this lady-killer.

As to the original topic, I'll take a stab as an outsider. UND seems to be a program on the rise. With the right coaching staff in place now, it seems UND is poised to get back to being a contender on the conference scene and depending on how brackets shake out, make some noise in the playoffs. As an NDSU fan, my perspective is, UND has always seemed to have a strong core of passionate football fans. Where UND struggles IMO is attracting the casual fan. This comes with winning, of course. But it's can also come as a result of the game day experience. The tailgating, the in game atmosphere etc. NDSU has some very, very passionate and creative people hyping the game and handling a lot of the in game experience. I believe, from what you all have said, that UND has a great need for improvement in these areas. Couple that with winning and it could be a formula for a larger and larger fanbase. So why be a fan? Because if you wait to go until the product is better, you are indirectly contributing to the product and atmosphere continuing to be average.

It would be a legitimate discussion point in the sports abyss that is July for a non baseball fan. He seemed to be making a point, I asked him to clarify said point. Sensitive? Nope. i realize the ndsu trolls you are used to may have no interest in being reasonable and balanced in their posting here, but don't lump me in with that crowd.
-
Really, negative rep? You guys are so sensitive.
-
Didn't seem like a PM sort of question. Just thought I would have him clarify his comment before responding and possibly derailing the thread.
-
I realize this comment was in response to trolling, but what exactly do you mean by "doing things the right way"? You say it in a way that suggests NDSU doesn't do it the right way. Is that what you're saying?
-
Don't I read on here often how many UND grads are living in Fargo?
-
You seem to be implying that wasn't a cordial discussion. What part of my or anyone else's role in that discussion would you not define as cordial? additionally, if you're going to paraphrase my comments, at least have the spirit of my posts reflected in your paraphrase. I stated several time in fact in that discussion that it isn't the biggest accomplishment, but rather it is arguably the biggest sports story in North Dakota history. To which I later agreed that the Maris story is clearly a bigger story. It just didn't immediately come to mind since it was over 2 decades before my birth.
-
I have agreed the entire time that the two are a good comparison, physically. Only part of this that I commented on was geaux_sioux's comment about beating his chest. Not a big deal. Given geaux_sioux's history of posting here, I believe him to be sincere in a comment he made later, halfway retracting the comments or at least clarifying the comment. I'm not working to belabor the argument here. Not seeking approval, just simply stating, which I hope all of you would agree with, any NFL career that last as long as Joe's is something to be proud of if you are Joe. If in 10 years Mr. Ratelle has the exact same career Joe Mays had, I would be disappointed if UND fans didn't see Will's career as a MAJOR success.
-
You missed geauxsioux's comment that said he wouldn't beat his chest, meaning be prideful, about Joe Mays' career. I said any career that lasts as long as Joe's is something to be very proud of.
-
I read football forums seeking cordial discourse. When I read comments that I believe to be false, out of interest in either beginning a conversation or providing my perspective on a conversation that's already begun I will occasionally give my opinion. If, as a UND fan, you see that as some sort of coup or a feather in your cap, bully for you.
-
Context. You clearly picked a side of the fence. No worries though, I didn't mean to derail any attention from Mr. Ratelle. Hope he gets drafted very high and has a successful career. He seems like a good kid with an amazing work ethic. Definitely should be able to make a name for himself on special teams and then find his way into the two deep over time.
-
I understand he hasn't been a star, but as you know, longevity in the NFL is rare. I've been very impressed with Joe's career given he fought the same uphill battle with his measurables that Mr. Ratelle will be overcoming in his career hopefully.
-
Way to defend someone who took a shot at a kid living out his dream of playing football in the NFL for nearly 3x the NFL average career. Your family and friends must be real proud.
