  1. I don’t mind you saying “when”, just found the choice of calling NDSU fans arrogant while assuming a win to be ironic. So it’s fun for you to banter with NDSU fans yet you are giving me !@#$ for being on this board for the same reason. Interesting.
  2. And it’s just those NDSU fans that are arrogant. Maybe we just see what happens on Saturday before we start getting ahead of ourselves here.
  3. I don’t agree. This fall’s incoming freshman class will have been born in 2003. They grew up in a reality that tells them that NDSU is far superior to UND in football. A persons own reality and experience is much stronger in forming an opinion than what happened before they were born.
  4. Forgive my ignorance here, but what are you saying? What are you anticipating happening this coming Saturday that will prove a rivalry regardless of the outcome? Fans are limited so tailgating and fan attendance will be low and the atmosphere will be relatively weak as a result. I anticipate a close game so a blowout win by either team is unlikely, though if one team were to win in a blowout, a UND blowout win is much more likely IMO. Maybe I’m just seeing this coming Saturday much differently than you. The way I see it, if NDSU wins this week, even if it’s a very close win, it’ll only further solidify in the minds of NDSU fans how big of a gulf exists between the two programs(I’m not saying I agree with that). NDSU fans will say this is the worst team NDSU had had in a decade and the best team UND has had in 10-15 years and NDSU still won the game.
  5. How will it be humbling if NDSU wins? Your logic isn’t following.
  6. Lie? That’s a bit strong, call it a difference of opinion. The crews I run in have a ton of respect for UND. Also, if you’re feeling so confident that ndsu will learn “a humbling lesson” next Saturday, why are you hedging by saying “we may not win”?
  7. In fairness to young people who believe the above, 75% of the students currently at NDSU or UND weren’t alive the last time UND gave NDSU a meaningful game.(most of that time was because they weren’t playing) But it was pretty logical to develop that opinion when one team is winning national championship and beating FBS schools while the other isn’t making the playoffs. I’m not trying to be disparaging, just pointing out why fans are somewhat justified in their opinion if they don’t understand the history between the two programs.
  8. I’m not sure this is true. Every conversation this board for the last 18 months has talked about Schuster as the clear cut starter and as the future of the program. Which I believe to be justified, he’s a good player with the potential to be great.
  9. Great question. He’s a statue in the pocket which doesn’t fit the previous prototype for NDSU’s success and isn’t particularly accurate. Maybe he looks a ton better in practice than the game.
  10. Sounds like you think bisonville is representative of “SU fans”. Nobody who knows football ever thought that was true.
  11. My intention isn’t to downplay any of UNDs success, if that is how it’s coming across. Every team is a mixture of experienced and inexperienced players. UND is adapting well and making the best of the talent they have so far, good on them, that’s what teams who are successful have to do.
  12. You guys are funny. Did you guys feel better about Schuster or Ketteringham. Every one of you knows full well you came into this season feeling very good about the QB position. Let’s move on.
  13. I agree, Miller looked head and shoulders like the better player to me.
  14. You’re correct, my mistake. My memory of Tommy’s play when he was in there was impressive enough to know you guys were solid at that position. I just misremembered that he wasn’t actually the starter, he just played like he should have been.
  15. Should be a good game. I expect a relatively low scoring game as both defenses are stout, especially against the run. UND’s offense has a clear edge against NDSU’s, but I saw some hope with Miller in that I didn’t see in Noland so hopefully the coaches stick with Miller.
  16. Who’s crying, calm down. Simply stating that replacing key positions leads to a period of acclimation. Same reason UND fans felt better coming into this season with the starting QB returning than you would have if you had a fresh face at that position and other key spots.
  17. I think that would depend on the year and the expectations leading into that season. This team is made up of a lot of new faces at many key positions, anyone outside of the extreme fanatics in Fargo knew this season would be a season with a lot of question marks. This isn’t exactly the 2013 Bison team with returning starters at nearly every position.
  18. I guess some men are simply more secure than others.
  19. I like your optimism and hope you are right, but those three values you mentioned are objectively on the decline with younger people. There is a rapidly decreasing amount of things that can be leaned on in tough times that bind us together in this country anymore. Sport used to be one of them, I hope that continues to be true in the future.
  20. How original of you, dancing and laughing makes them feminine. I’m sure you’re man enough to express that opinion to their faces right?
  21. Should they be upset? They won. The bar at NDSU is high, but these kids are all part of a brand new team whose record is 3-1(I’m not counting the fall as that was a different team) They are developing and learning and victories along the journey of development of any endeavor should be celebrated. There is plenty to work on for NDSU once the film study is done, but 10 minutes after a victory in the locker room following a game is not the time to be dissatisfied with a win because it wasn’t impressive enough for the program’s insane standards.
  22. I agree, but what would you say are the common values that span generations?
  23. Spot on, the world has changed. Spend five minutes on tik tok and see what the younger generations think is funny and you’ll wish for those five minutes back.
  24. Yeah how embarrassing for young people to be celebrating and acting a little goofy following a college football victory. I’m sure UNDs locker room following victories is a beacon of focus and stoicism. Kids of this generation record themselves doing weird crap, it’s not confined to the basement of the Fargo dome.
