  1. Has anyone other than you said this? Fantastic strawman argument. Welcome to earlier today when I said this exact same thing. You probably missed it during your childish rant about the same thing over and over. How well did Muss do in the Big Sky? You're so keen on comparing Jones and Muss, especially during Jones' best year where he is on the verge of winning a Big Sky Conference Championship. Had Muss finished in the top 3 in the BSC in his first two years, he damn right would have earned an extension even if his OOC record was 1-2 or 1-3. Again, NOBODY EXCEPT FOR YOU is saying anything about more money making a Jones team more successful. Why shouldn't sports be looked at differently? If UND looked at basketball the same way they look at hockey then basketball coaches would last maybe three years at UND. It's a different animal, with different facilities, different level of opponents on a weekly basis and thus different expectations. Now, allow me to preemptively stop you from going off on a tangent about basketball being so unsuccessful because of low expectations compared to hockey.
  2. I don't know about D1 basketball, but as of 2013 he was the lowest in the Big Sky and the only one not making more than $100,000. By that time, his teams had already finished 3rd and 2nd in the conference. Hoops44's point, that you continuously gloss over, is that UND's return for investment has been very high. Especially when you compare it to other coaches across the NCAA and Big Sky.
  3. There you go again, not actually reading anything that is written and just spouting off the same repetitive stuff. I had a nice analogy comparing you to a small child but I thought that was inappropriate, despite how accurate it may be.
  4. Actually, I don't think he has said that. At least not in the last few posts about Jones' salary. What I believe he is saying is that traditionally you would expect someone making that little of money to have a team near the bottom in wins at D1, especially in conference play. However, Jones has had UND in the top half 3 of his 4 years prior to this year. So in turn, UND has probably gotten a better return on investment than most schools paying that little would. Should Jones be paid a little more than he currently makes? Probably based on the results however in the past both Jones and UND have instead agreed to more years instead of more money.
  5. FSN and UMD were supposed to supply some crew members for the production from FSO but couldn't get enough people together to do the broadcast, so it got scrapped.
  6. I'm wishing I could make it to the game tomorrow but I'll be stuck at work in the Springs. Good luck to UND!
  7. I'm assuming Jones gets all the credit for the better free-throw shooting? I mean, it has on him when they were missing them because they "didn't practice them enough."
  8. Yes, the conference gets more money when UND hosts in the 1st round of the playoffs and makes the Frozen Faceoff. That money from those two rounds of playoffs are what funds the NCHC for the entire year. The payouts from the tournament are minimal, just like they were for the Final 5. The conference keeps that money because they have to stay in business. The TV deal is no different than the one the NCHC has with CBSSN except that the B10 gets funding from the B10 Network. If UND is included in that funding, I would say think about it. However, at this point UND needs to think about long-term future (security) not just what is good right now ($$$). How many more B10 teams can add hockey before UND is voted out? What happens then, after UND pissed away relationships with the five schools they've had relationships with in the WCHA and NCHC?
  9. UND already has a deal with Midco for 2nd tier in which CBSSN has dibs at 1st tier. If CBSSN wanted to, they could do every UND game and leave Midco high and dry. Midco has shown they don't want a significant number of their hockey games on FCS for a variety of reasons. That won't change once the B10 comes calling and wants to take away even more games.
  10. So this article by Tom Miller from November 5th about UND working on a deal with the Summit/MVFC doesn't count?
  11. And realize in this situation, we're talking about spending $99 per ticket for non-CC members who also have to pay for travel and hotel in Vegas. $135 shouldn't break the bank for someone who is willing to shell out all the other money involved in this single game.
  12. Why? CC members have earned the right to first access to tickets. If you want that first right, join CC.
  13. Why would you call out a player directly to them on Twitter? I'm sure you would love it if anonymous people could make comments about your job performance on Twitter.
  14. UND is only sixth if no other games are played over the next week. The only chance Air Force has of making it as an at-large is if they win out and certain teams do as well. It's not just about the games your team plays.
  15. The 5th best team in the conference and two spots behind the team UND is playing?
  16. Of course they are. They've never sold out the Target Center so there is always room for more fans. It's also an effort to find out what some potential changes could be made that would help the fan experience. While a lot of planning has been done for mid-March, we're still a month away and there is time to improve/change things.
  17. Based on the remaining schedule, it will most likely be Miami 7, Omaha 6 and SCSU 5. Would be great if und can get that three seed to host Omaha. Miami has the toughest schedule, Omaha's is only easier because they only have 4 to play. UND has the easiest so they need to take advantage.
  18. Every regular season game except for the Friday at WMU will be on Nchc.tv. As will the first round of the playoffs and only the third place game at the frozen faceoff.
  19. I actually wish it had been capped at 4 each. Could have given those that support und in other ways the chance to buy tickets.
  20. I apologize for understanding how large NHL arenas are rented for events like this. Unfortunately, I'm not a "business folk" in that I don't sign the contract. I have spent the last 10 years working in college and professional athletics. The T-Mobile arena was built to make money for itself, not to be a comped arena. The attached hotel and casino will have no trouble making boatloads of money on Halloween weekend without UND fans. Unfortunately, a hockey arena in Las Vegas costs more than one in Grand Forks. T-Mobile can instead have a concert that will sell out and make more money. That's why the cost is and can be so high.
  21. No but that mainly has to do with UND not being the "host" of the game. The NCHC teamed up with MSG to put on the game and invited UND and BC. UND didn't really have much invested in that game. UND also didn't make money off of the game as there wasn't really the opportunity for that.
  22. I too wanted to go to the Vegas game. I had a group of at least 8 that were hoping to get tickets as this would be the first time we've all been together since the outdoor game in Omaha. I'm upset we didn't get tickets. I think it should be at T-Mobile Arena however I understand UND's perspective that it costs a lot of money to do a game like this. And losing money is not an option at UND right now.
  23. How is UND supposed to gauge attendance at Vegas? That's why MSG plays a role.
  24. And 10,000 loses money for UND. And if UND/Gophers is always a good crowd, why wasn't there a sellout on Saturday in Minneapolis when they played?
  25. So according to the math by some, 27,000 UND fans would be at the Vegas game? Don't be ridiculous please.
