So this article by Tom Miller from November 5th about UND working on a deal with the Summit/MVFC doesn't count?

North Dakota vs. Minnesota in Las Vegas - October 2018

And realize in this situation, we're talking about spending $99 per ticket for non-CC members who also have to pay for travel and hotel in Vegas. $135 shouldn't break the bank for someone who is willing to shell out all the other money involved in this single game. -

Why? CC members have earned the right to first access to tickets. If you want that first right, join CC. -
Why would you call out a player directly to them on Twitter? I'm sure you would love it if anonymous people could make comments about your job performance on Twitter.

UND is only sixth if no other games are played over the next week. The only chance Air Force has of making it as an at-large is if they win out and certain teams do as well. It's not just about the games your team plays.

The 5th best team in the conference and two spots behind the team UND is playing?
-
Of course they are. They've never sold out the Target Center so there is always room for more fans. It's also an effort to find out what some potential changes could be made that would help the fan experience. While a lot of planning has been done for mid-March, we're still a month away and there is time to improve/change things.

Based on the remaining schedule, it will most likely be Miami 7, Omaha 6 and SCSU 5. Would be great if und can get that three seed to host Omaha. Miami has the toughest schedule, Omaha's is only easier because they only have 4 to play. UND has the easiest so they need to take advantage.

Every regular season game except for the Friday at WMU will be on Nchc.tv. As will the first round of the playoffs and only the third place game at the frozen faceoff.

I actually wish it had been capped at 4 each. Could have given those that support und in other ways the chance to buy tickets. -

I apologize for understanding how large NHL arenas are rented for events like this. Unfortunately, I'm not a "business folk" in that I don't sign the contract. I have spent the last 10 years working in college and professional athletics. The T-Mobile arena was built to make money for itself, not to be a comped arena. The attached hotel and casino will have no trouble making boatloads of money on Halloween weekend without UND fans. Unfortunately, a hockey arena in Las Vegas costs more than one in Grand Forks. T-Mobile can instead have a concert that will sell out and make more money. That's why the cost is and can be so high. -

No but that mainly has to do with UND not being the "host" of the game. The NCHC teamed up with MSG to put on the game and invited UND and BC. UND didn't really have much invested in that game. UND also didn't make money off of the game as there wasn't really the opportunity for that. -

I too wanted to go to the Vegas game. I had a group of at least 8 that were hoping to get tickets as this would be the first time we've all been together since the outdoor game in Omaha. I'm upset we didn't get tickets. I think it should be at T-Mobile Arena however I understand UND's perspective that it costs a lot of money to do a game like this. And losing money is not an option at UND right now. -

How is UND supposed to gauge attendance at Vegas? That's why MSG plays a role. -

And 10,000 loses money for UND. And if UND/Gophers is always a good crowd, why wasn't there a sellout on Saturday in Minneapolis when they played? -

So according to the math by some, 27,000 UND fans would be at the Vegas game? Don't be ridiculous please. -

There were 11,348 people at the game at MSG. At least 1,000 of those are tickets that aren't sold because of giveaways, business agreements with MSG, etc. Let's be generous and say 9,000 of the slightly more than 10,000 purchased tickets at the game were UND fans. Does 9,000 people in MSG make the Vegas game a sellout? You can guess or assume, but it's a big risk for UND to just assume. Especially in this budget climate. -

The Ralph didn't even sell out last weekend. I get that Vegas is a destination trip but let's look at some facts: MSG was half-full this year, a year after winning a national championship UND hasn't sold out games as consistently in the past, they're only playing one game so you have to assume fewer people are going to make that trip for just the single game. In hindsight you can believe that UND would sell out an NHL arena (although I don't believe they would for this game), but the costs go up even with more people in the stands. -

Was every ticket sold for $100? If 7,000 were sold to champions club members, that's about $550,000. Another 3,000 at $99 is another $300,000. So we're already $150,000 short of the million you suggested. A school never gets 100% of the ticket price. In addition to having to rent the arena (way more than $100,000), Orleans also gets a cut of tickets. What other math are you missing? That money goes away fast. -

You're right. UND should have just assumed that an extra 8,000 people would show up to Vegas. -

Renting the arena, buying the rights from USA hockey, travel, etc. -
North Dakota vs. Minnesota in Las Vegas - October 2018
southpaw replied to fargosioux's topic in Men's Hockey
UND paid USA Hockey to buy the rights for the game, in an effort to make money. Had they bought the rights and then made a deal with T-Mobile, it would have to be a near sellout for UND to break even. -
North Dakota vs. Minnesota in Las Vegas - October 2018

UND thought realistic. Does 10,000 people in an NHL arena justify the costs? MN can't get 5,000 people in their own arena so why would they all fly to Vegas for a single game? Again, what happens when there are 10-11,000 at the arena? UND loses money. Buying into the champions club this late wouldn't have gotten you tickets. The allotment sold out. Precisely. How many UND fans were in MSG? The arena was half-full. So 8,000 tickets at MSG isn't a recent and good look at history? UND chose Orleans because there are significant costs associated with an event like this. Costs that UND has to recover, especially with all of the budget issues surrounding UND. As a fan, I'm disappointed UND didn't go for T-Mobile, but I completely understand why not the first time around. -
How long are these NDSU donors allegedly going to be covering the budget issue? It's not one year so far. It could be a long time. Does NDSU want to rely on others or fix their own issues?

I think it's worse. My guess is there are 2,000 tickets on the Vegas scalper market
