  1. Thats simply not true. The students do not do things as a group. Most of the students sit down and have done what was asked of them. The few students that do stand are the exception not a rule, if those guys where to get kicked out after numerous warnings, I say they deserved it! If they were warned and knew what the consequences were so be it. The people behind them that stand up as well are doing so out of necessity, the people infront of them stand so they must stand or they cant see. I dont see how those people actions... people that tell everybody who tries to change their behavior to F$#% off... should reflect on anyway when the arena never did anything specifically to fix it. I dont identify my self with the few A$$ holes And if the arena and the Athletic dept are so worried about bad press they should remember that the students can scream just as loud as any one else. This feeling of second class citizenship at REA better stop or they will never get the atmosphere in that place that it deserved!
  2. I always loved watching the Devils, I am a big fan of the D-game. The game that the Wild play isnt as solid as the Devils teams, it seems as if the Wild have to dodge more bullets than the Devils have to. Your team is always more exciting to watch its just the way it is. Why is every one hateing on my Devils. they Rule... even Barry "Nice Mullet" Melrose likes them.
  3. I agrees with all prior sentiment. Lets face it-- Next year we will have TOO MANY DAMN GOALIES!!! If nothing changes next year we will Have Brant, Seimbida, Ranfranz, Sofie, Ziegelman, and Sedevie. What the hell!!! Half of them have to go. Something about having the same number of Goalies as D-men is a little wrong.
  4. Why is the idea that Students should police their own come from. In a perfect world where everybody was nice to each other and hugged that would work, but unfortunatly there are people who are assholes who are not going to listen to what thier fellow students say or want them to do. I have seen people get kicked out of there and for the most part it was obvious that they deserved. I know there have been a few people who got thier tickets pulled... big whoop if they deserve it by all means. The Arena has done nothing in the past year to fix the problem either they are inept or they new that it would give them a chance to get more seats. I personally never sat by those who stood all game (Behind the visitors penalty box) I did stand up during times when it is appropriate (power plays, occasional PKs, and the last 2 minutes of a 1 goal game....) Sic you must remember that you are not at Ralph Engelstad Theater, you are there to be a hockey fan. If everybody want to sit there and not get into the game they might as well stay home save their money and watch the game on TV.
  5. It would have been easy to enforce... In reality it was about 10-20 students that were standing. Those behind them were standing simply because those infront of them. Would it had been to hard to boot a few people and take their season tickets??? No No No... They set the students up for failure, im not sure they did it intentionally, but it is obvious that the students are 3rd class citizens... Thats too bad... we are just the ones who might not want to make donations in 10 years. Oh and one more thing... Did you know that the SkyBox right behind the current student section belongs either to UND or the Alumni Assoc. How nice of them to whine bitch and moan about the students!!!
  6. Hey that might not be a bad idea.. Hey Admin... can we get an ignore button???
  7. Are you sure your not from the East Coast? I'm Born and Raised New Jersey!!! You got a problem with that Ill break your kneecaps!
  8. I guess the Wild have managed to define the term "goaltender by commitee". Lemaire is a great coach, probably a better coach than a player (and he was really good at that too) If this guys doenst win coach of the year I dont know who deserved it. The guy took an expasion club from nothing to taking down the AVs a far superior team (on paper) and now are giving a Vancouver all they can handle. The Wild have gotten this far with out declaring a starting goalie!! He took a player like Wes Walz a guy that has been bouncing up and down the NHL, AHL and Switzerland!!!. If the Wild had any other coach they would be cannon fodder in that division, but Lemaire can take a team consisting of not the best talent (Gaborik excluded--He rules ) and turn them into a Legit playoff performer. He did the same thing with the Devils in 95 the Devs had a better team but before Lemaire they were perrenial first round losers until 94 when they got to the conference finals and got beaten by the Dirty Rangers. (I hate the Rangers more than I had the Gophers) But won the whole deal the year after. So I guess I am saying that the Wild this year are not a fluke, they will be a solid team for a while and then over time they will start attracting higher level free agents and they will have much sucess. I don't think they have enough to win the cup this year but the Wild will contend and could win it all with 4 or 5 years. Not bad at all.
  9. Could yellowdog be Siouxrock with better spelling? Just remember Yellowdog, I dont go into other peoples house and pee on the rug. The few times I have posted in POI have been constructive and non-confrontational. I have enough respect for POI fans and I realize that they dont want to see a Sioux fan come in there and try to start fights. IMO if you want to hang round here you should at least have respect for what board talking on. Other Gopher types have figured that out, and many of them are great contributors to this forum. Im sure that some Sioux fans go over to POI and start fights too, but thats not really cool either so I am not holding up a double standard here. Im just saying that one should not go into a mans (or womans) house and disrespect it. Thank you as I step of my little soap box.... Oh BTW congrats to Panzer I wanna see you kickin some ass in the NHL next year. IMO the MVP of a team is the player that makes everyone better around him. This person doesnt have to be a leader in scoring (or else a D man or a Goalie could never win an MVP) but he has to be a team leader.
  10. The one thing I have found with Major Pro arenas is the fact that the lower the seat, the higher the cost the less educated the fans with the money to afford the seat. There are exceptions to that rule so no one get pissed, but the real fans cant afford 100 buck a seat at a Hockey game.
  11. Heck... I have heard people in Grand Forks refer to UND as "the U". While its not a common moniker in Grand Forks I have heard it used.
  12. The 95 Devils were a less talented team than the 03 wild? I am not taking anything away from the wild but the 95 Devs were one of the best defensive teams ever. 95 Devils Roster The Wild don't have prime d-men like Stevens or Scott Niedermayer. Jim Dowd was also on that team. Neal Broten was a mid-season addition from Dallas. Stephane Richer was in the prime of his Career and was the teams top scorer. The checking line was Mike Peluso, Bobby Holik, and Randy McKay. Claude Lemieux was on that team and had 13 goals in the playoffs. And Im sorry Roloson and Fernandez are no Brodeur. The Wild are a great team but they are an expansion team on a great run. Lemaire is a great coach but the Wild are an expansion team and the Devils even in 95 had some history of sucess. The Wild are about 2 or 3 years from being a long term contender in this league they need a few years of Development in the system, but don't make the error of calling the Wild a great team. Remember the Florida Panthers that made it to the finals and didnt go anywhere since. Sorry Wild fans... but dont start having the Stanely Cup in your eyes.
  13. I give this series a toss-up. If it was a first round matchup I would have picked Vancouver in 5-6, but after seeing the Wild show the Heart to come back from 3-1 on the Avs I really cant call it. You can argue who is a better team on paper but hey you never know. The Wild beating the Avs is a bigger upset than the Anahiem / Wings thing but I wonder if the Wild has enough gas in the tank to take down the Canucks.
  14. Now you dont start talking all crazy.... Your scaring the children.
  15. To be honest... Robbie Bina is a name that I and probably most people here have not heard of until a few weeks ago. I really don't have any expectations of him. He obviously was not a very heavily recruited player or he would have been signed earlier. He should barely be expected to help fill Leinweber's hole much the less Dave Hale's. I may be completely wrong here but Robbie Bina was an after thought be Dean Blais, he realized that he would have another roster spot to bring in so he found another player. With the losses of Dave Hale and Liene on the blue line every body else will move up, Smaby will probably be a regular and then Bina will have to fight for a spot on the roster. I really think the best thing that Blais could do would be to put Ryan Hale back on the blue line, let him play the entire season there and I think he can be a very effective D-man. Remember we have 4 forewards coming in and 2 left. Maybe one more is on the way out and that still leaves some dificulty in determining who to sit. Both Ryan Hale and Lee Marvin are very flexible players that can be used effectivly both as a D-man and a forward. Watch for them to bounce around positionally.
  16. To be honest--- The series was the second longest series in NHL history. It looks like Toronto simply ran out of gas first.
  17. Bina won't step into Hales hole. Thats not fair to Bina. He is a smaller D man and a Freshman. That is way to much pressure to put on a freshman and a late recruit at that. We should look toward Schnieder or Jones to provide that leadership on the blue line. Just because Blais recruited Bina as it looked that Hale was a goner does not mean that he is a direct replacement. Give the guy a chance but dont expect him to come into the Sioux as a true Hale-esque force on the blue line. If you are looking freshman D you might want to look toward Smaby first. -- If Stafford and Murray have the impact that is forecasted we should no longer have scoring problems next year. I have never seen these guys play but they should be a great scoring force. I would tend to think that Murray might be better faster due to his BCHL experiance but I think they will both work out.
  18. Reading that latest article Kiszla actually suggested that Forsberg might leave to go play in Sweeden? This guy is trully DUMB. I do agree with the fact that this upset could haunt the AVS for years to come. Lets see how much the Denver fans support thier team when they dont have a good year. Its about time that they have to deal with that. If they still sell out the Pepsi center when that happends Ill be shocked!!!!
  19. Goon--- Couldnt have said it better myself, except I dont golf.
  20. I love that line by Steve Levy "Welcome to all you viewing on ESPN Classic... wait not yet!" Great Game--- Great Series
  21. Wild Win!!! Need I say more!!!
  22. And then there was Forsberg's ignoring the puck and raping Gaborik... Not cool... Dirty Dirty Dirty.
  23. Definately the games a lot of people were NOT hoping for. UGLY. I was looking for a war all the way to the end but OH well, Ottawa - Philly will be a good series too.
  24. I don't know how much better a player like Hale, Bayda, or Sejna would have gotten playing in the WCHA. In Sejna's case he ran around everybody all year long. It didnt make any sense for him to stay. He was obviously the best player in College hockey and had nothing to gain. Bayda was a similar case but he obviosly never dominated like Sejna did. Hale was kind of a wild card but depending on his health he could see some time in the NHL next year. The Devils have so D-men that are getting up there in years Daneyko, Stevens and Albelin are all rapidly approaching 40 years of age. While Stevens doesnt show it (he rules all ) Knowing the Devils I doubt that they would have signed Hale to a juicy contract if they didnt think he would be capable of playing in the NHL. Why would the Devs pay for a year of Development that UND could do for free? The AHL takes the development that a player gets in the upper NCAA ranks (H-E, WCHA, CCHA) to another level. They play almost double the number of games at a level just below the NHL a player. Just like Juniors takes a High School player and elevates him to a college level, the AHL takes a College player/ Major Junior player and elevates him to the NHL. There are the rare talents that come out of the college or Major Junior ranks and make an impact on the pros with out any AHL season but those guys are rare.
  25. All I know is that as I type this Toronto is getting Spanked in every sense of the word. 10 minutes left in the 3rd and the Score is 6-1 not pretty. Belfour must have taken some cough syrup like he did in game one of the 2001 Stanley Cup finals.\ And they are Singing ---NA NA NA NA HEY HEY HEY Goodbye with 10 minutes left, bad sign. Sucks because I really hate Philly just as much as I hate the AVS. The only team I hate more is the Rangers.
