Make me really happy!!! The Devils really like college players.... IE...David Hale, Paul Martin, Brian Gionta(BC), Jay Pandolfo(BU) ,Rafalski (Early 90s Badger), John Madden (U of Mich), Erik Rassmussen (Gophers) Thats 7 players that are direct products of the US college system. Parise will fit in just fine. Aslo just a note Commodore is currently playing for the Lowell Lock Monsters, I guess that means he somehow got into the Carolina Hurricanes organization.

The ASPCA would have a stroke.... PETA would protest... The Grand Forks Herald would cry foul... But it would be worth it!!! Before one specific Gopher game I was with a group of guys calling pet stores looking for Gophers... For some reason they didnt want to sell us any rodents... would couldnt understand why.

Favorite Old Ralph Memory-- The final Gopher game in the arena with a greatest bon fire in the history of hockey... A couch went up!!! It was cold as anything but people who you didnt know would be quick to offer up some libations to warm you up. There seemed to be a great fell of camraderie that was done away with at the new ralph. From what I have heard the arena atmosphere has improved but it will take a national championship or 4 to regain the fervor and anger of the old arena. That building was loud and angry and teams trully feared playing there. REA is a great recruiting tool and it is a great hockey building but it is still a blank slate. The tradition of Fighting Sioux Hockey is still there but a new house doesnt become a home for a little while. It takes time but it will happen.... but yes I do miss the old arena, It will always have a soft spot in my heart.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet but the Gold medal wasnt the only goodness going on in Sioux-land this week. Division I Men's Players of the Week He is rapidly turning him self to a Hobey Contender ... He is currently #2 in the nation in scoring (14G-15A) but he has only played 17 games with a 1.71 ppg average while #1 (Jim Slater MSU) has played 23 and no one on the top 25 list has played less than 18. Keep up the good work!!!

You must also condsidder the fact that there is no way that the WCHA would allow SD into it with no DI Hockey experiance they would probably have to play in the CHA to get some credibility before the WCHA would even talk to them. It would be like UND going DI for football and trying to join the Big 10 its just ridiculious. There would not be a lot of money to be made as a CHA team especially when trying to start out from nothing.

I best chime in here--- Congrats to Team USA. It is trully a shame that the US media chose to gloss over this tournement and very few of us (not me) got to see what might have been one one the greatest hockey games in US history. Obviously this is second to the Miricle on Ice, but it is still incredible none the less. Congrats is Zach Parise especially- Now the world knows what kind of force he will be in the future. The beauty of this tourney tends to be a show case for future NHL talent. Being a big time goalie fan I would also like to give props to Al Montoya who is yet undrafted probably rocket up the pick chart from a second or third round goalie to a top 10 pick. The team never let up more than 3 goals for the tourney, and had a 27-8 GF - GA stat... That is insane. True donimance. The first 2 games of the tourney (Austria and Slovaka) were won by a combined score of 13-0 Congrats now Zach, Brady, and Drew lets carry that momentum so you guy can add a National Championship to that gold medal on the mantle!!! P.S. Awesome video!!

Watching the game it seemed to be a pretty even game it just seemed it all boiled down to that one fumble in the red zone other that that one big play the game was dead even. But Ill give it to GVSU they played a great game, it was a battle to the end. Congrats... Well see you next year. (Sorry no 3-peats allowed)

Sorry I forgot that I was in Eastern Time... The game is 4pm out East and 3 in the Central Time Zone.

The BCS is obviously messed up. The simple fact that there will be 2 national champions if USC beats Michigan show that the system is flawed. D2 and D1AA as well as most other sports have some sort of play off /tourney that is influenced by alot of the BCS factors (SOS and rankings) and after it is all said and done we will all know if UND is the champion or not- It will be decided on the feild not in some old crappy computer.

I was just looking throught the Good ole TIVO box and it looks as if the Game will be on ESPN (not the duece) Saturday at 4pm. This is great news all of us schlubs with out the privelege to be in Grand Forks and with out digital cable or Direct TV can see the Game!!!! Great stuff!

Lets be honest here. We should not be getting on this Alabaman's case. We should be applauding him. The simple fact that he knows how to put together a coherent sentence and then turn on a computer and type that coherent senctence is a miracle!!!!!! Being an old-school Jersey boy (as old school at a 22 year old can be after living in Grand Forks for 4 years) I have been following the Devils since the late 80s when they sucked, but they always were a class team with players that wanted to be their. Lou Lamerello (GM) is a class guy and only puts class guys on his team. They dont have a 50 goal scorer because everybody score 15-20 goal a year. They are a deep team and everybody plays if they work for it. Im sure you can all guess how happy I was when the Devils drafted Parise, rest assured the Devils will not sign him just to sign him. The will sign him when they think he can make an impact at the NHL level. David Hale case in point.

Great to see Dave Hale kickin some ass and getting some playing time in NJ. Dave has played in all but 5 of the Devils games this year and a few of those he was banged up, for a total of 15. He has yet to put a puck in the net but has 2 assists, 17 penalty minutes, and is currently a -1 rating, not bad considdering he never played a game in the Minors. Paul Martin has played 13 games and has been a healthy scratch the past few nights. Has a goal and an assist, is a +1 and has yet to go to the sin bin and feel any shame.

They just need to play some good ole' Metalica and other good @$$ kickin songs before the game. Welcome to the Jungle is a classic. BTW its Re-animation not ressurection.

This is a horrible situation. Lets all pray that they find her safe and sound and hurt the bastard that did this. Grand Forks is a city that has trully amazed me. It is full of trully caring people who despite differences can band together for what is right and good. I wasnt there in 1997 but in my 4 years there (1999-2003) I was honored to be a part of that community. They rejoice in truimphs and band together in times of diffuculty. I know I am a better person for having spent 4 years there. I was trully sad to leave. I will say a prayer for Dru and her family in hopes that there is a safe outcome to all of this.

Depending on the situation and the quality of play from Parise and Ziggy it would not surprise me to see Lamoureux be redshirted for that first year simply because there would be a Senior Jake Brandt and a Sophmore Parise and Ziggy. You might as well let him develop with the team for a year while there still are 3 eligable goalies.
